You can't use discount codes on pre-orders. I actually thought you couldn't use the discount code until actual release date on the 27th.

Yeah, since the code doesn't work on pre-orders, and since the only way you can play the game early is to pre-order, you're gonna have to wait until the real release date if you wanna use the 20% off code.
