HDR mode locked on MLB The Show 18

For some reason I cannot unlock HDR on MLB 18. I have no problem on 17. I have a Samsung QLED 50" TV. Please help. Thanks.

I have a 65inch Samsung..Did you turn on HDR in the settings of the Tv?

Samsungsyou have to go to your picture settings, expert settings, uhd color and turn it on for whatever hdmi sources you want hdr to work. I just turn it on all of them. I dont think it does anything negative if a source isnt displaying hdr

Yes, I went to Picture, Expert Settings and selected HDR+Mode. Still locked on HDR Mode when I go.back into the game picture settings.

I think I am getting somewhere. I went to General, External Device Manager, HDMi UHD Color and selected all HDMI's to on. When I did that I was able to turn HDR on withing the game. Now I have to find the settings for 4K, Enhanced Visuals etc. All I see is Game Resolution and the choices are Balanced, Sharper and Faster. Hmmm... No 4k, Enhanced Visuals, etc... Did they rename to the three above?

Yes.. sharper is 4k and balanced is 1440 i believe

Balanced is still aiming 60 fps, but it can occasionally dip on some camera angle cuts for a split second. Never really during core gameplay like batting/pitching. It's at 1440p.

I haven't tried Sharper yet, but assuming it's like the 4k mode from last year, which was choppy 30 fps.

Yea makes sense it would still be choppy since it's limited by the hardware (PS4) and not the TV anyway.
If you have a 4k TV, balanced is the way to go. Looks a lot better than frame rate with pretty much the same performance of silky smooth gameplay.

Using game mode on your Tv doesn’t over saturate the colors? Example as in way to bright?

Does HDR make the game look worse for anyone else? In last year's game HDR looked way better ON than OFF for me, but so far in 18 The colors and contrast with HDR off look great but look much worse with it on.

Same TV? Game Mode?

It sounds like it could be an HDMI handshake issue with the TV and your PS4 Pro when you enable it within the game. After turning on HDR, try exiting the game completely and then back in.
