The 10-5 Reds head to division leading 11-4 Milwaukee for a 3 game set.

Game 1 and Chase Anderson confounded the Reds two hitting them over 8 innings of shut out ball. Knebel got the save and the Brewers take game one 2-0.

My starter Castillo went out injured after 1.2 innings and the bullpen who were already on fumes after playing 12 games without a rest day, were stretched to the limit.

Next game Matt Hervey takes on Jhoulys Chacín, a pitcher I haven't beaten since The Show 16. lol

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Game one of the NLDS is in the books. Kershaw and deGrom were facing off and the way Kershaw dominated the first inning I thought I was in serious trouble. deGrom gave up a HR to Bellinger in the top of the second to give LA a 1-0 lead. In the bottom of the second David Wright drew a one out walk and Jay Bruce followed it with a double but I had to hold Wright at third. Mesoraco and deGrom struck out to end the inning, but I rank Kershaw's pitch count up to 30 after two innings and he at least felt human. Next inning Rosario leads off with a walk but Frazier and Cespedes both failed to advance him. With an 0-2 count to Conforto I figure it's as good of a time as ever to try stealing and Kershaw throws a curveball making it an easy stolen base. Conforto works the count back to 2-2 then gets an opposite field single to score Rosario. A single by Wright and a walk by Jay Bruce and now we've got the bases loaded. Thanks to a throwing error by Justin Turner, we score an unearned run and take a 2-1 lead. Kershaw's pitch count was at 70 after three innings and we were able to get him over 100 by the 5th. Cespedes hit a HR in the 5th and that was all we would do offensively but it was enough with our ace on the mound. Dodgers were making contact with tons of first pitches so deGrom was able to pitch a complete game on only 99 pitches.

I'm a little nervous that Kershaw completely screwed up my timing. Going back and forth from a 94-95mph fastball to his 72-73mph curve, I was constantly in between pitches and all of my hits felt like luck. Then Pedro Baez came in and I was even more uncomfortable, I just cant pick the ball up with his delivery. I don't even see his throwing arm, it's like the ball is being fired straight out of a cannon from his shoulder

My Dodgers just sneaked above .500 for the first time in months, our record stands 40-39 after taking game three (and a 2-1 lead) in our four game series with the Cubs at Dodger Stadium. In contrast to game 2 which was a genuine pitchers duel, the bats were warm at least. Cubs took a 2-0 lead only for my Dodgers to come back and tie it up in the fourth. In the fifth the Cubs re-established their two run advantage, going ahead 4-2 again. However, after an impatient fifth inning when my guys were swinging the bat recklessly, we exercised more patience in the sixth and we scored 6 to take a commanding 8-4 lead, which was the end result. We only scored in two innings but took advantage of a solid effort pitching collectively.

We're only three games behind the division leading San Francisco Giants but sit in last place, given it's a competitive NL West reaching mid-season.

Just started September and have the AL West locked up already. Washington is looking like a sure lock in the NL East. The Cubs and Milwaukee and St. Louis are dueling it out in the NL Central. The Dodgers have the NL West locked up. In the AL the Yankees are starting to look like the favorites in the East. The Indians are of course running away with the central. Don't have the rundown on the wild cards right now but as long as the Twins or Orioles don't make it I should have a shot at the AL Pennant.

Game 2 of the NLDS was a heartbreaker. LA scratched a run off Syndergaard in the 2nd, then got a Joc Pederson solo HR in the 4th for a 2-0 lead. Alex Wood was tough to hit, another funky delivery that I just couldn't pick up, but we were able to run up his pitch count and get him out in the 6th. Frazier led off the inning with a single, then Cespedes got a bloop single because LA was in a no doubles defense. Conforto got an RBI single and the CF booted the ball allowing Cespedes to advance to third, leaving 1st and 3rd with no outs. Adrian Gonzalez hit in to a double play but a run scored to tie the game 2-2. Then in the 7th with men on 1st and 2nd and two outs, Frazier came through with a double but I screwed up the controls and held Rosario who was in motion with a 3-2 count at second when he could have easily scored, so I only scored one run. On to the 9th with a 3-2 lead, and Familia's first pitch to Cody Bellinger is an opposite field HR to tie the game. He gets the next two outs and then surrenders a HT to Logan Forsythe and LA takes a 4-3 lead. We couldn't touch Jansen in the bottom of the 9th so we're off to LA with the series tied. I need to win two road games or else I'm facing Kershaw again, this time in an elimination game

                Starting Rotation
                Spoiler

                Overview

We were able to resign Tim Anderson to a huge 5 yr 155 mil contract. It took him a while to sign and it was quite nerve racking watching the rest of the AL Central sign big name free agents while we played the waiting game.

After the winter meetings were over, we found ourselves nearly 1.00 mil in the hole weekly. This could largely be attributed to the fact that the arbitration board sided with every player therefore they are playing for more than we expected them to be.

For that reason, we were forced to do something we never wanted to as we traded away Jose Abreu. He was earning 12 mil this year and had long ago started his decline. This was to be his age 36 season and I really felt it was time for Cruz to step up to be the everyday starter at first.

Our main addition from free agency was Carlos Martinez who has taken Lance Mcculers Jr's rotation spot as Mcculers was traded.

We are again ranked as the best team in the league and on paper look like we have a pretty good shot at repeating as world series champions. This next offseason will again see a key players contract expire as Yoan Moncada is on his last contracted year. Obviously, we will do everything we can to bring him back. For now, let's win another world series!

                  Been a delay in updates...

We lost 5 straight heading into the All-Star Break and the Cubs managed to cut the lead down to 5 1/2 at the break. But we have won the first two against the Brewers and the Cubs have lost 2 to the Reds to push our lead back to 7 1/2 games.

The American League won the All-Star Game in extra innings with Josh Donaldson taking Michael Wacha deep in the 10th for the walkoff 2 run homerun.

Here were the All-Star starters for the 2020 season....

I upped my pitching difficulty to the highest level (from hall of fame) and jeez i've been struggling.

Leaving lots of balls of the middle and walking a lot more batters. I guess it's more realistic than having the Reds staff in the top 8 for ERA, but it's hella frustrating. haha

You really have to nail that meter dead on to have a hope of locating, huh?

What does the crown looking symbol mean when someone has it next to their name when you're putting together your lineup? Brandon Nimmo and Amed Rosario both have it but Rosario is only batting .200 and Nimmo only has started one game out of three in the NLDS. Neither have done anything I'd consider crown worthy

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Game three we got off to a fast start vs Kenta Maeda, scoring two in the top of the first off a Nimmo triple, Cespedes double, and then a Conforto single. LA got one back in the 2nd and 3rd off of Bellinger and Errol Robinson HRs to draw even. That's three HRs in three games for Bellinger, he's been a terror this series. In the 4th I got a two run HR from Todd Frazier and then an RBI single from Cespedes in the 5th to make it 5-2. Then in the bottom of the 5th Matz gave back two on a Chris Taylor HR to make it 5-4. I got an ok performance out of Matz, 6 IP 4 ER. In the top of the 7th I got a two run double from Conforto and that was all we'd need to go on to win 7-4.

Game four was a pitchers duel between Zack Wheeler and Julio Urias. I got six shutout innings from Wheeler and Urias tossed six shutout innings too, but in the 7th Cespedes reached on a throwing error and Conforto turned that in to a two run HR. Wheeler could have gone deeper but he came up with a man on third and two outs in the 7th and I wanted to try and get that run in with a pinch hitter but failed. Wilmer Flores knocked in an insurance run in the 9th and we've advanced to the NLCS. Conforto was the star of the series, batting .462 with one HR and 7 RBIs. Apparently I've taken a time machine back to 2015 because we're facing the Cubs in the NLCS after beating the Dodgers in the NLDS

means they're a league leader in some category. not all are good, like strikeouts and pitcher walks.

What are your CPU hitting sliders at? Default? Reason I'm asking is that I'm pitching on HOF with the CPU hitting sliders at default and I still don't think they're hitting me around enough.

Finished year 1 of simming in my Baltimore Orioles rebuild. Finished 60-102. I got 3 60 overall, 90+ potential prospects from the draft and 1 88 potential from it as well. They were 2 outfielders, a shortstop, and a closer. Traded Adam Jones to a contender for a B rated 2b prospect who could develop with time. Focus for the first few years is to build up the farm. I used the newest OS rosters with Machado already being a Dodger. I didn't make any big signings or trades during the offseason as the early goal is to boost the farm through drafts and trades.
