Add another one to the list...the disabled list...Luke Weaver out 2-3 months

Luke Weaver is the latest casualty to land on the disabled list for the Cardinals, as he was placed on the 60 Day DL due to a shoulder injury. Luke Weaver is now the 4th starting pitcher to be on the DL for the Cardinals joining Austin Gomber, Miles Mikolas, and Carlos Martinez. Aside from Martinez, everyone else is expected to be back around or after the all-star break. Martinez is expected to return end of June/first of July.

Luke Weaver was in Memphis when he suffered his injury as the Cardinals continue to have a revolving door for their MLB starting rotation. Just 6 weeks into the season, the Cardinals have now used 10 different starting pitchers, as Junior Fernandez became the 10th when he started Sunday's series finale against the Cubs.

The Cardinals may have to turn their attention to the free agent market or the trade market to try to find arms to get them to the All-Star break so they don't fall too far behind the division leading Cubs. After Sunday's win, the Cardinals are currently 8 1/2 games back of their northern rival.

The Cardinals are set to take on the Twins in a quick 2 game series. Michael Wacha and Jack Flaherty are the scheduled starters for the two games.

      Having a bad September.

I'm in 2019 and the Cubs lost a heartbreaker on September 2nd in Milwaukee when once again my bullpen crapped their pants. Most of my guys have been struggling with Justin Wilson pitching 4.76 even after a decent start. Carl Edwards Jr. has been atrocious at 5.29, Duensing at 6.95, and Cishek at 5.47. Brandon Morrow has been struggling with 7 blown saves and a 4.79 ERA.

I do have some decent seasons though. Mike Montgomery has been serviceable at a 4.00 ERA, and I traded for Michael Lorenzen just before the deadline. He is pitching 2.44, and has taken over as closer, being perfect in save chances. And a generic guy I called up from Iowa named Rom Ingram is doing well at 2.24.

I lost 2 of 3 in Milwaukee and then 3 of 4 back at home against the Dodgers. Meanwhile, Milwaukee keeps on winning. I currently lead the Wild Card, but now trail the Brew Crew by a half game. Hopefully I can right the ship and take the division. But it's been tough.

        Cardinals win 5th straight..beat Padres 3-2

Cardinals won their 5th straight game as they defeated the Padres 3-2 in San Diego on Thursday night. Jack Flaherty was solid on the mound going 6 strong allowing 2 runs on 7 hits while striking out 8. Roberto Osuna pitched a perfect 7th, John Brebbia pitched a perfect 8th, and Trevor Rosenthal struck out the side to secure the victory.

Carson Kelly drove in 2 runs, including what would be the game winning run in the 6th. Kelly was 2 for 3 on the day with a double. Juan Fabregas who started his 3rd game in a row went 2 for 4 with the other RBI. Fabregas is now 7 for 11 in his last 3 games with 5 RBI's and a homerun. Fabregas is making it difficult for Matheny to leave him out of the lineup. With Piscotty and Pham both experiencing cold streaks at the plate, don't be surprised to see Fabregas start again tomorrow.

Next up is game 2 of this 4 game set in San Diego with Mike Leake squaring off against Braden Shipley.

Jose Quintana clears waivers..outrighted to Memphis

Jose Quintana has cleared waivers and has been outrighted to Memphis. The fact that Quintana cleared waivers is a little surprising but then again not given the weak trade market and even moreso his poor performance thus far this year. Quintana is 0-5 with an ERA of nearly 6. Quintana, and the Cardinals, hope the veteran finds his old form and success while pitching in Memphis.

Paul DeJong to 10 Day DL with back strain

Paul DeJong is headed to the disabled list with a back strain. DeJong was placed on the 10 Day DL after Thursday nights game where he left after making a throw to first on a ball in the hole. The Cardinals don't expect DeJong to be gone any longer than the 10 days. Greg Garcia has been recalled from Memphis to take his spot on the active roster. Marwin Gonzalez will most likely assume the starting shortstop role in DeJong's absence.

          2018 Oakland A’s Fantasy Franchise

July 30: It’s been 10 games since the all star break and we have not been playing great ball. We dropped 2 of 3 to SF at home and then went on the road splitting a 4 game series with TEX 2-2 and then dropping 2 of 3 to COL including a bad blown save by Hicks. 4-6 over a 10 game span isn’t a great sign for the team with the best record in the league(69-38), but fortunately are division has played so poorly that we still have a 14.0 game lead over SEA in the West with 55 games to play.

Krush Davis finished the final game of the road trip in Coors Field blasting a pair of solo BOMBS(487 and 468 FEET) to up his major league leading total to the magic number of 61, just 12 away from Barry Bonds all time record.

We didn’t pitch great as a team over the past 10 games, but Ohtani had two great outings and upped his season win total to 15, while lowering his ERA to 2.99. Michael Kopech picked up his 2nd CG SHO of the year with a brilliant performance against TEX to improve to 13-2 on the year with a 2.61 ERA(4th in AL). The two rookies continue to dominate and lead our pitching staff towards the postseason.

Next up we head back to Oakland for 8 games vs TOR, DET and LAD. The way the schedule works out as we move into August, we have 17 of the next 20 games at home!

Quintana was key for me in the 2018 postseason. That July, the Astros offered me two young pitchers for Jose. But I had Kyle Hendricks on the DL with a torn rotator cuff, and with Yu Darvish on the shelf after Tommy John surgery, I felt that I couldn't afford to lose another playoff-ready starter. Unfortunately I had to dump his salary for 2019.

But I wish I still had him. The Cubs recovered to take 2 of 3 from Colorado in the Friendly Confines, but September 16th was a bad day. Rizzo broke his ankle sliding into home plate in the first inning, then Lester injured his back in the fourth. The Reds beat the Cubs 6-3 at Great American Ballpark.

Losing is something the Brewers aren't doing much of, unfortunately. The Cubs are now 2.5 games behind. With Lester and Rizzo likely done for the season, it's now about holding on to the Wild Card.

Ole Country Boy has convinced me.......Legend, default sliders and max out pitch speed sliders.

FINALLY started my Tigers franchise tonight, and Yanks beat me 4-1 to open the Grapefruit League schedule.

Honestly, after testing different slider sets on here for the entire summer, default legend plays just as good as any set out there IMO.

The pitch speed sliders are gonna be a challenge, but after 30+ ST games I expect to get my timing down.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

                September 20th:

Joe Maddon held a meeting before the Cubs took the field in Atlanta. His main message was it doesn't matter who you are or what kind of season you've had, he needs you to step up. ERA over 5? Forget about it, pitch well these final weeks. Just arrived as a September call-up? Now would be a great time to showcase what you can do. And as for the main guys, he needs these good performances to continue.

He might as well have been Knute Rockne because the Cubs were ready to run through a brick wall for their manager on this night. They scored first on a solo shot by Contreras in the 2nd, then picked up 3 more in the 4th to take a 4-1 lead.

Then came the top of the 6th where the Cubs put up 7 runs, capped off by Schwarber's 3-run bomb. Up 11-1, Maddon was able to pull his entire starting lineup to give everyone a half game of some much-needed rest. And 11-1 is where the score remained.

                47302913_10158185770913228_6006632366137671680_o.jpg

Despite the huge injuries, the division is no longer out of the question. The Brewers finally lost, and the Cubs only trail by a single game. What's big is that Milwaukee comes to Chicago on September 27th for the final 3 games of the regular season.

                This is getting really interesting.

Cardinals come from behind, beat Padres to win 7th straight

The Cardinals trailed 6-1 after 4 innings. They would proceed to score 2 in both the 6th and 7th, one in the 8th to tie the game at 6-6, and then one in the 9th to win the game 7-6. The comeback started in the 6th when Juan Fabregas hit a 2 run homerun to cut the lead in half to 6-3. In the 7th, Kike Hernandez hit a pinch hit 2 run homerun to make it 6-5. In the 8th, Patrick Wisdom hit a solo shot to tie the game. And in the top of the 9th, Kolten Wong hit his first homerun of the season to put the Cardinals ahead, and give them the win, 7-6.

Junior Fernandez struggled on the mound only lasting 4 innings giving up the 6 runs. His defense didn't help him much committing 2 errors and a few head scratching plays. Tyler Lyons pitched the 5th and 6th allowing 1 hit and zero runs. Sam Freeman pitched a perfect 7th. Jordan Walden struck out the side in the 8th and John Brebbia notched his 2nd save of the year by pitching a perfect 9th.

Next up is the series finale as the Cardinals go for the sweep of the Padres and their 8th straight win.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Well the 2019 White Sox remain a .500 ball club through June at 41-41 now 7.5 games back in the AL Central to the Indians and 6.0 games out of the 2nd Wild Card spot. Can't say the Sox are not consistent as they've finished each month in the season so far with exactly a .500 record.

Offensively been middle of the road with the leagues 14th best offense in Avg. (.251) and tied for 13th in runs scored (336).

Pitching is 11th in the league in ERA (3.48) and Runs allowed (309).

July will be big month when it comes to deciding what to do at the deadline. Have to do something if they want to stay in the race for the Wild card or division. The Sox could use an upgrade in the infield as Matt Davidson, Tim Anderson and Yoan Moncada have struggled to hit as they did all of last season as well.

The Sox do have plenty of pitching prospects they could deal with Michael Kopech assuring a spot in the White Sox rotation this year and 2018 draft picks Kevin Dibiase and Omar Salgado surpassing a few other prospects in their short time in the pros. Dylan Cease and Alec Hanson could be included in a trade if the White Sox go that route.

DiBiase has a 6-3 record, 2.76 ERA and 73 K's in 97.2 innings in AA, while Salgado was a recent call up this month to AA but has a 1-3 record, 3.64 ERA and 24 K's in 29.2 innings.

Wacha earns his 100th career win...Cards beat Twins 6-3

Michael Wacha earned his 100th career win as the Cardinals defeated the Twins in Minnesota 6-3. Wacha also recorded his 1,300th career strikeout during the game as well.

The Cardinals jumped out to an early 2-0 lead and then quickly pushed it to 6-0 after the top of the 3rd. The Twins scored 3 in the bottom of the 3rd to cut the lead in half and that is where the score remained and finished. Patrick Wisdom hit his 2nd grand slam of the season in the 3rd to really blow the game open. Juan Fabregas and Carson Kelly each had a RBI.

The win has put the Cardinals (20-20) back at .500 for the season and 9-3 for the month of May.

Fabregas and Cardinals walk off Phillies. Get above .500

Juan Fabregas hit his 5th homerun of the season in the bottom of the 10th of a scoreless game to give the Cardinals the walk off 1-0 win over the Phillies. The Cardinals are now 22-21 on the season and above .500 for the first time this year. They still trail the Cubs by 7 1/2 games.

Rookie Junior Fernandez was phenomenal today going 7 innings, allowing 3 hits and striking out 8. He did walk 4.

Neither team could do anything offensively as the teams combined to leave 15 runners on base. Both pitching staffs were lights out as the teams combined to allow just a total of 8 hits and 1 run, while combining to strike out 30 hitters.

Juan Fabregas who has been inserted into the everyday lineup as the left fielder now is hitting .321 with 5 homeruns and 15 RBI's in his limited at-bats. He also has 4 stolen bases. Not bad for a guy hitting 5th in the lineup. Fabregas' addition to the lineup has sent a struggling Stephen Piscotty to the bench.

Cardinals and Phillies will play game 3 of the 4 game set tomorrow evening.

Cardinals fielding calls on Jordan Walden

The Cardinals have let the other 29 GM's know that they are willing to listen to offers for Jordan Walden. The 33 year old started the year off hot, but the wheels have come off and Walden's ERA has ballooned from under 1 to 4.18 while his WHIP stands at 1.59. Walden does have 29 strikeouts in 23 2/3 IP. Not sure if the Cardinals will actually move him, but with the emergence of Joe Kelly and the depth they have, it wouldn't be a surprise to the see the Cards part with Walden to gain another starting pitcher who is either on the cusp of being MLB ready or in the MLB already.

Cardinals send Piscotty to Memphis. Recall Corey Ray

The Cardinals have elected to send Stephen Piscotty to Memphis for at least the remainder of the month of May. The Cardinals recalled Corey Ray from Memphis to take Piscotty's spot on the active roster.

Piscotty is hitting just .186 this year with 3 homeruns and 8 RBI's. Granted this year has been a bit of a roller coaster for Piscotty who was replaced in favor of George Springer to begin the season. After things got off to a rocky start both on the field and in the clubhouse, the Cardinals sent Springer to the Bronx for ex Cardinal players Alex Reyes, Corey Ray, and Mike Leake. Piscotty just can't seem to find his stroke at the plate this year, so management has decided to send Piscotty down to see if he can work out the kinks and get back to the career .272 hitter he has been. The move is expected to last just until the end of May (2 weeks). The situation will be re-evaluated on June 1st.

Corey Ray gets his first taste of big league action in a Cardinals uniform. Ray who last year was traded to the Yankees hit .342 with 14 homeruns and 55 RBI's in 85 games. This year he got off to a slow start hitting just .146 in 12 games. Ray has hit .255 in Memphis, but that average was on a huge upswing as he got off to a poor start readjusting to the Cardinals organization and being back in the minors.

The Cardinals have no plans of trading Piscotty as he is under contract thru next year. He also has option years available so the Cardinals can continue to try to get him back to his old form without risk of losing him to waivers.

The Mets are having a difficult time avoiding balls being put in play. Ahmed Rosario is out for a few days after taking a line drive right to the face. Thankfully, the orbital bone isn't broken, but he's got a nasty black eye and is on the 10-day DL to allow the swelling to go down.

Seth Lugo lasted just 0.1 innings in his last start, as he was forced out of the game after a liner caught him flush in his pitching arm. Unfortunately, Lugo's injury is more severe than Rosario's, as Lugo was diagnosed with a broken arm and will be out 1-2 months.

Jay Bruce was moved from the 60-day to the 10-day DL. He wasn't quite ready to rejoin the team, but will be ready to go after the 10-day stint.

45-24 record puts New York a game up on Washington in the NL East.

Can somebody please tell me why I just spent 12,000 stubs to increase my budget by over 40 million dollars and the game is still telling me I have no money to spend?

I know this game is historically ******** about how it allocates budget, but I got to free agency with the Marlins, did my exclusive negotiations, avoided arbitration with all eligible players, tendered all of my renewals and then signed my minor leaguers. It then told me I had no money to spend on free agents, which was fine, but I then spent 5,000 stubs to increase my budget by 20 million, and although it added that 20 million to my "bank", it still wont allocate that money to my budget. Confused, I spent another 5000 stubs hoping it was just something I wasnt seeing, but by now Ive spent 12,000 stubs to increase my budget by 42 million, with all of my players and staff signed, and yet its still telling me I have no money to sign players and staff half way through free agency.

What the hell did I just spend all of those stubs for? Why does it say my bank has 57 million dollars in it, but I have no budget to spend on players now?

Why is this game so ****ing frustrating and unclear about your teams finance. I want the budget I just blew 12,000 stubs on. Id really appreciate the help.
