4/19 @ CHC: 6-5 W (F/15). J. Eickhoff 7 IP, 2 ER, 5 H, 2 K. D. Smyly 7.1 IP, 1 ER, 4 H, 4 K. J. Jimenez (1-0, 3.08) 2 IP, 2 ER, 3 H, 2 K. S. Cishek (0-2, 5.68) 2 IP, 3 ER, 3 H, 1 K. B. Harper: 3-6, 2 HR, 2 RBI, 3 R. K. Schwarber: 2-6, 2 2B, 2 RBI, 1 R.
That last one sure was a thriller, with both teams exchanging the lead late, and neither seeming to want to let go enough to lose - until the 15th, when the Cubs finally ran out of that comeback magic. We now move on to Chase Field in Arizona, as the Phillies prepare for three with the D'Backs.Comment

The Cardinals are heading to the NLCS
We beat the Dodgers 3-1 in Game 4 of the NLDS to clinch the series 3-1. We will face the Cubs in the NLCS. Mike Leake was absolutely masterful in this game throwing 7 no-hit innings. See the clinching Game 4 action below.

MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
So I really want to get my Dodgers franchise in 2019 prior to the TS19 coming out so I simmed the remainder of my regular season. We finished the season 97-65 taking the West by 7 games over the Rockies. I had a 6 game lead when I started the sim so not much changed.
2018 Awards:
NL Cy Young: Clayton Kershaw
AL Cy Young: Chris Sale, Red Sox
NL MVP: Kris Bryant, Cubs
AL MVP: Nelson Cruz, Mariners
NL ROY: Juan Soto, Nationals
AL ROY: Ryan O’Hearn, Royals
Mariners beat Yankees in the AL Wild Card. Cubs beat Rockies in the NL.
ALDS:
Astros v Indians
Seattle v Red Sox
NLDS:
Mets v Dodgers
Cubs v Brewers
I took game 1 with a 7-0 win with Kershaw and Maeda combining to only give up a single hit. Kemp, Bellinger and Travis (pinch hit) all homered.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
Free Agency has begun. For the most part I've done IRL baseball signings. But also did my own in my universe. Here some early tidbits. I'll have a full write up later
AJ Pollack had 4 year , 85 million pacts from the Dodgers and Twins. I guess he decided the playoff run last year was fun and choose to re-up with the Twins
Patrick Corbin had 6 years, 100 million from Red Sox and Nationals and decided to head to DC
Mike MooseTacos decided to join the Yankees on a 2 year, 20 million pact over offers from Angles and Brewers
DJ Lehmaeiu joied the Angels on a 4 year, 85 million pact over offers from Yankees and Mets
Carlos Gonzalez joined Angels on a 2 year, 20 million pact over Giants and Indians
Giants traded Jonny Cueto to Yankees for Jacoby Ellsbury and Greg Bird
Giants traded Jeff Smardjza to Brewers for Keon Bronxton and pitching prospect

How do you manage arbitration and your FAs? This is my first offseason and my lost.

We beat the Cubs in Game 1 of the NLCS. Juan Fabregas finally came out of his postseason shell to hit 2 big homeruns. Jon Singleton went 4 for 5.
Michael Wacha struggled a bit but Alex Reyes was great in early relief. Trevor Rosenthal saves his 4th game this postseason.
Game 2 will feature Marashiro Tanaka vs Carlos Martinez

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread
I've made it to September in Year 2 of my Mets franchise, playing every game (All-Star default, quick counts, directional hitting, classic pitching and auto field with manual throwing). We're up 17 games in the NL East, which is crazy since we ended June in second place in the division.
Question for the group ... have you all noticed the game playing differently recently? It seems like outfielder reaction is slow and animations overall seem sluggish.Currently Playing:

If so what I do in the beginning phase is offer anyone a renewable contract for the years they're capable to be renewed. In real life they get renewed every year however since I'm controlling everything I just do the 3 year renewable so I don't have to do it every year.
If you offer someone a tendered contract and they don't sign don't sweat it. I figured out in FA you can resign the guy and he'll still have renewable + arbitration years left as if he never signed.
You will also have minor leagues guys on roster who don't want the allotted 70K and won't sign. For that just give them 100K and they'll sign.
For FA I would look around to see who need what players and I would offer contracts to players. The team at #1 spot will not always get the guy. For instance the Yankees we're #3 on Mike MooseTacos interest but we're able to sign him.Last edited by Councilmann_Jamm; 02-24-2019, 08:49 PM.Comment
