Francisco Lindor signs with the Yankees, turning down the Cardinals offer

One of the two big targets the Cardinals were seeking this offseason has signed, and it wasn't with the Cardinals. Francisco Lindor agreed to a surprising 3 year $90M deal with the Yankees. The Cardinals had an offer of 8 years $225M on the table and the Blue Jays had an offer of 5 years $142M offer out there as well.

Lindor will quickly fill a need for the Yankees who haven't had an all-star caliber SS for several years now and we're looking at Thiro Estrada as possibly being their everyday SS heading into camp.

The Cardinals will now turn their attention to Carlos Correa, although it appears the Cardinals aren't as in on Correa as they hoped. It's looking more and more likely that the Astros are going to re-sign Correa.

My Dodgers have slipped out of a wild card position, losing theee of our last four to Colorado who hold the first WC spot. We are currently 1 behind SF who hold the second WC spot.

      Nine games to go.

I just hate that in the game after three teams offer they start eliminating teams so there is only 3 at a time.

Really, I pride myself on running legit and realistic franchises. I know it sounds dumb but I go back and forth with every decision, such as "is signing Trout a legit option or is it fast tracking my franchises and taking the easy way out?".

I'd also like to see "small market" teams and teams always at the bottom of the standings rise up and overtake some of the big boys. The Reds have won the division and been in the playoffs in all three of my years so far. The Padres have sniffed the playoffs but Baltimore (me), Miami, KC, Detroit, Texas have all been at the bottom and setting records for futility.

Maybe I just think too much.
You can never "think too much" and I like your ideas about building contenders from small market teams. Out of Machado, Harper or Trout...Trout is the only one IRL and the game I would like to see play for the Reds.

2021 White Sox are through the month of May at 39-22 in first place by 3 games over Minnesota.

The Sox may have a star on their hands with rookie SP Omar Salgado, no team has yet to figure him out. Posting a 11-0 record with a 1.34 ERA, 49 K's, 1.15 WHIP in 87.1 innings. Leads the AL in Wins and ERA.

As a team we lead all of baseball in ERA (2.36), runs allowed (156), homers allowed (42).

Offensively we are 7th in Avg. (2.68), 16th in runs scored (231), and tied for 18th in Homers (59).

              Orioles Rebuild Year 4:
              30 Team Control

              November 7th, 2020
              -Oakland

The Oakland A's today made the biggest splash of the off season by signing Mike Trout 29-99-A to a 5 year $155M deal. President of Baseball Operations Billy Beane said, "We wanted to show our fans that when they enter the gates of this new ball park they are going to see exciting baseball. That starts with a guy a like Mike."

"Mike" is the best player in the game. The multiple MVP award winner was excited to join the A's and stay on the west coast. "It's a great area that my family really enjoys. We were glad to get the deal done early and be able to spend the Holidays in our new home. We really enjoy the west coast and we are excited for the future both on and off the field."

Beane did note that had Trout wanted a few extra years on his deal it might not have been possible. "With a 5 year deal you eliminate the overreactions from media and fans about how a player isn't performing when a deal is back loaded. While his contract will be worth more at the end than at the beginning, we feel he will still be in his prime years after the 5th season and we'll see what happens then."

The short term contract (for baseball contracts these days) allows Trout options when he is 34 and still (hopefully) a good player. It also allows the A's to deal him if things don't work out.

The A's have made the biggest splash and with the Red Sox signing Betts back the next domino to fall off the free agent market is SP Jacob deGrom.

After extensive research, polls, back and forth and analyzing the rosters, I decided on three teams that needed him the most and made the same $ offer 10 times. 6 times he chose the A's and so he stays out west and in the AL.

As much as I wanted to have him on the Orioles for my team's sake, it just didn't work out. He signed with us 1 time out 5 in my elimination process. Perhaps I can draft the next Trout. Or, maybe I already have....

Giants add Kris Bryant on a 6 year $130.8M deal

The Giants continue to be the most active team this off-season and continue to add the biggest pieces. The Giants just signed Kris Bryant to a 6 year $130.8M deal. This after signing Freddie Freeman 2 days prior. And signing Blake Swihart a week ago, the same week they re-signed Buster Posey.

The Giants are looking to make some noise in the West trying to catchup to the Dodgers and Padres, the latter has been very quiet this offseason.

The Dodgers added to their bullpen by signing both Sam Freeman and Justin Wilson to one year deals. Those two lefties will join fellow lefty, Brad Hand, in the Dodgers pen.

Twins sign Carlos Correa to 6 year $185.4M deal

The Twins have made a huge splash to be repeat as AL Central Division Champions in 2022 as they just signed Carlos Correa to a 6 year $185.4M deal. The Twins are loaded at the infield position with this signing as they now have Correa, Ozzie Albies, Jorge Polanco, and Nick Gordon at the SS/2B position, and have Eric Hosmer at first.

I foresee the Twins moving one of the 3 of Albies, Polanco, or Gordon to SS and another to third. I also wouldn't be surprised if they traded one of them for more outfield depth.

The Twins are setting themselves up to be playoff contenders for several years to come.

White Sox look to defend world series title after beating Athletics in five

The White Sox streak of winning sixteen post season games in a row was snapped by the Athletics in the first game in Oakland.

In that game, both teams would struggle offensively. This led the game to going into extras with a score of 1-1. In the 11th, Matt Olsen would hit a two run homer to snap the streak and send their fans home happy.

With such a deflating loss, the White Sox would again come out flat in game four. At the conclusion of the third inning, the Sox would be down by five runs with the score at 5-0 in favor of the Athletics. Michael Conforto would try to get his team going in the fourth by hitting a solo homer. This did not seem to work as the Sox wouldn't score again until the 7th inning.

In that 7th inning, the Sox bats would explode for a five run inning to tie the game at six a piece. The joy from this would be short lived as the Athletics would again go up in the bottom half of the 7th 7-6.

In the ninth, the Sox were down to their last out. Tim Anderson came to the plate in a situation that many children dream of. Given this opportunity, he took full advantage as he hit a solo homerun to tie game at 7.

This game would also go into extras where the Sox bats again exploded to a tune of five runs. The Athletics would add two more of their own but fail to complete their own comeback.

The fifth game saw the Sox defeat a now down and out Athletics squad enroute to their second World Series appearance in a row.

The Sox will look to defend their world series title against the winner of Milwaukee and Los Angeles, a series that is currently 3-2 in favor of the Dodgers.

Picture is from when I did sims of the full 7 year offer

Blue Jays sign Christian Yelich to 4 year $56M deal

The Blue Jays just increased their chances of returning to the playoffs in 2022 with the signing of Christian Yelich. The Jays and Yelich agreed to a 4 year $56M deal.

The Cardinals had an offer on the table for Yelich but he turned it down and decided to go North. The Cardinals' plan was to have Yelich play right field with Sierra in center and Fabregas in left. The Cardinals could still re-sign Tommy Pham who is under team control. They also have kicked around the idea of moving Sierra to right and having Bader be the everyday centerfielder.

The only guarantee at this point in the outfield is Juan Fabregas in left.

With the arbitration offer coming up in 2 days, everyone will have an idea as to full free agent field going forward.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

                              Dodgers take game one

Julio Urias (7.0 IP/4 H/1 R/1 SO) pitched a great game as the Dodgers took game one from the White Sox.

Tim Locrastro put the Sox down early with a two run homerun in the top of the third. After that, the Dodgers leaned on their star pitcher to lead them to the victory. The White Sox lone run would come in the sixth when Corey Seager got ate up by a Casey Gillaspie hard hit grounder. This led to the ball going nearly to the wall in the outfield and Jiminez coming into score.

Game two will see the White Sox attempt to rebound against a still great Claytom Kershaw.

                              Dodgers lead series 1-0

Probably because Harry Doyle said "That's all we got? 1 G** Da** run?"
