Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Some friends got me into play 1, sim 5 this year. I’m currently on game 161, if I win I take the Division. If I lose the division comes down to game 162.
    Game 161: Severino vs Sale
    Game 162: Tanaka vs Price.

Hands down the best ending to a franchise I’ve had. I’m typically locked for a wildcard spot or maybe have a solid lead on the division by this time. Never had it come down to the final game. Everytime my team would streak some W’s Boston would lose. Then Boston would get hot and I’d fall in a slump.

    Sale: 15-8, 2.80 ERA
    Severino: 19-5, 2.18 ERA

Also CPU pitched a no-no with Severino during a sim. I’ve never thrown one but I’m taking credit. 🤷🏾*♂️

I’m pretty bad when I play boston. Kimbrel (Leading for reliever of the year) is always lights out when he comes in. I have a hard time vs Sale also.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

      End of May - 2019

The season has been extremely frustrating so far. 14 games under .500 at 21-35. And thats fine. A little worse than I expected but whatever. The frustrating part is how we lose. And even more how we win. We cant just lose a game and then win. No we have to lose a bunch in a row. We started the season 1-12. Then all of a sudden we go 10-3. Fun while it lasted. Over the next 3 weeks we went 4-17. Currently 6-3 since then. If you are gonna lose just lose. Dont look like a competent team for 2 weeks to get peoples hopes up.

1-12, 10-3, 4-17, 6-3. Thats how our season has gone so far. 21-35 after the first 2 months. The AL Central is once again trash so we sit in 3rd place. 9.5 games behind the Indians.

Offense of course is not great. We are hitting .250/.309/.379. Dead last in doubles with 68. Tied for 20th in triples with 9. And 19th in HR with 55. In the offseason we brought in some coaches to help with our base stealing and plate discipline. Hasnt worked out well. Our 28 stolen bases and 55% success rate both rank 26th. And we are 28th in walks.

      Stats
      Spoiler

If you would have told me 3 of our top 4 hitters were gonna be Bonifacio, O'Hearn and Gordon. I would have said we would be leading the division. so of course the guys I thought would do well havent. Soler still has the power. But his AVG and OBP have fallen way off from the 2nd half of last year. Cuthbert and Merrifield are having their worst seasons ever. Mondesi and Dozier continue to do nothing when given the chance. And Bubba Starling never gets the chance to have a chance. Broke his leg on April 26th. Should hopefully be back by the AS break.

Pitching isnt the worst in the league. So thats something. We are however 28th with a 4.42 ERA. No complete games and 1 shutout are both last in the league. We are somehow 9th in the league with 58 HR allowed. I feel like I gave up that many in the first 5 games of the season. We are 14th in walks allowed and 26th in strikeouts.

      Stats
      Spoiler

Ian Kennedy lost the 5th starter spot. At the end of April he had an ERA of 7.94. Cole had an ERA of 2.95. Hasnt worked out to well for Cole recently. Still the better option though. Jake Junis went down with a Separated Shoulder in his last start. Will miss the next 2-3 months. Nolan Watson will make his MLB debut on June 5th against the Twins. He had an ERA of 2.56 down in AAA this season. Tim Hill was sent down in April. Had an 8.64 ERA in 8 IP. Needed more guys off the bench so no one replaced him in the pen. Richard Lovelady was optioned to AAA on May 15th. He had an ERA of 10.07 in 22.1 IP. Kyle Zimmer was called up to take his place. Brandon Mauer has the 2nd best WHIP of Major League relievers. 1 walk so far and 8 hits allowed yet 6 runs have scored. Cabrera has been a lot better than I thought he would be. Lets a lot of guys on base. But that 100 MPH fastball gets him out of it.

      Top Prospects Update
      Spoiler

40 games left before the break. 25 of them will be at home. Only 17 against teams with a losing record. Im sure we will lose 10 in a row at some point and then win 10 of 15. Also got the draft coming up in a few days. I like the talent we got down in the minors now. Just need to keep building on it. cant be like before where we bring up all our guys. Win a WS and then have no one ready to replace them. I mean ill take a WS. But would be nice to stay competitive.

        Hey Folks!

I've been lurking on this site for years getting tips and such and only recently created an account. Since I do not have privileges to start a new thread I thought that I'd share this with you all here.

I love historical stat tracking with final standings, league leaders, playoff results, etc. and since the game lacks this feature I've created my own spreadsheet. I spiced it up using team logos, playoff logos, etc. to give it some visual appeal. Since I've gotten a lot out of reading threads and using the OSFM rosters I thought I would contribute something to the community. I plan on using this in both RTTS and franchise.

Feel free to edit it to your liking if you feel the need to do so.

        Enjoy!

Updated my Tigers franchise page. 42-12, 7.5 game lead on the Indians through may 27th. I play every inning of every game, no sim.

On my site, on the sidebar to the right, there is a link to full MLB standings, and full Detroit Tiger's statistics.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

So my process for calling up prospects has been kind of flipped on its head. After doing extensive "research" on a few players by doing quite a few quick manages and player lock games, I came to the conclusion that Jake Bauers and Justin Williams were possibly ready for the call up. Willy Adams's wasn't because he could not buy any hits.

So I decided to give Bauers a shot and when both Kiermaier and Span went down, I gave Justin Williams a shot. In about 60 ABs for Bauers and 45 ABs for Williams they struggled heavily, hitting a a terrible .138 and .167 respectively.

Then one of my infielders got hurt for an extended period of time so I decided to go ahead and call up Adames. He responds by hitting .485 in his first 5 games. Small sample size, I know, but the other two guys were never even close to that.

Anyways, after the ALL-Star Break my Rays team is currently 51-61 which puts us in last place in the AL East, 11.0 games behind the Red Sox.

I decided to make a few moves. I traded some mid level prospects for Tommy La Stella and I traded Curt Casali for Jon Singleton and Reymin Guduan.

Tommy La Stella became my full time 2B which allowed to move Austin Barnes to catcher. But then La Stella got hurt with a fractured forearm. Singleton is now my Platoon 1B with Cron. If it does not work out then I will let him walk.

Ah yes in my most recent game I had two balls go by my SS that he should have gloved. I guess its my fault for taking a poor angle or something but its just like he didnt go into his animation to catch the ground ball

This is great dude.... Thanks for sharing. I have a basic spreadsheet for tracking my RTTS player stats but I'll be using this for everything else. Thanks again.

This would normally go in the Trade Discussion thread, but since it's year 2022 in my franchise, I thought you guys could help me out with it.

                      I offered the Colorado Rockies..

3B - Brian Anderson (85 overall) 28 years old (A potential) - signed through 2027 for 8 million per year on average.
SP - Trevor Rogers (85 overall) 24 years old (A potential) - signed for 2.3 million for 4 more years.
SP - Franklin Perez (78 overall) 22 years old (A potential - Top 50 prospect)

                      For

3B - Brendan Rogers (87 overall) 25 years old - last year of his contract
                      They accepted it.

Now I kind of feel guilty for taking him from them, even though I think I gave more than enough? I improved their pitching staff, and I gave them a .280 hitter with 20 HR power, still in his prime years, and signed long term.

They always let their FA's walk in my franchise. They didn't bother re-signing Nolan Arenado or Charlie Blackmon. I figured I would take Rogers, give him the contract that they won't, and then they get 3 players who are signed for 4 years or longer at a cheap price.

You guys think this is a fair deal?

I would prefer that you say I got robbed versus me robbing them. That's a good thing in my eyes, and makes me more at ease with this deal now.

If anything you got robbed. You gave them a 3B back that’s only slightly worse and older but that is under contract for a long time, a very solid young SP that is under cheap control for 4 years, and another young SP with great potential that is already pretty decent. All for a 3B on an expiring contract. That’s more then fair for them.
