    5.Santiago Lopez/19 YO/RP/63 OVR/74 POT
    6.David Bautista/18 YO/SP/51 OVR/89 POT

    Overview

Pretty good draft really excited about Shinjo he has potential to come in and play from day one but I might give him atleast a year in the minors to develop. Enrique Cruz could also play right a way all though he might come off the bench for the majority of his career.

In terms of this year's team? Well we tanked in may/early June. We have been hit with the injury but hard as we lost Yoan Moncada at the end of April (still out 1-2 more weeks with a broken leg), Avisail Garcia (broken arm 1-2 months), Reynaldo Lopez (SP broken arm 1-2 months), Lucas Giolito (SP torn finger ligament 1-2 months) and Tyler Saladino (torn hamstring 1-2 months) plus a few minor league injuries...apparently our club house ran out of milk...

We were offered a trade after Garcias injury and we accepted as we sent Catcher prospect (24 YO 64 OVR B POT) and received veteran Jed Lowerie 2B (33 YO 79 OVR). He has played well for us and has been our starting RF since joining the team.

Our offense has been good but certainly dropped off since April. We dropped two spots but are still 3rd in BA (.278), 9TH in Runs (280), 3RD in hits (603), 5TH in doubles (119), still 1ST in triples (27), and 4TH in home runs (87)

Our pitching has still been atrocious we are dead last in ERA (5.14) 26TH in home runs allowed (80), and 30th in strikeouts (385)

I just completed the season opening vs. the Phillies.
It was a good playing series. I won the first game in a walk off squeeze play.
2nd game lost 3-2. 3rd game lost 2-1. Hits per game as varied, from 14,8 & 8. Archer struck out 5. McCarthy struck out 8 & Theran struck out 9. No HR's as of yet. Everything seems to work on the diamond visually thus far.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Approaching the draft, the 2019 Rays are sitting at a not too shabby 23-27. We've continued to hit for a great average, but with no power at all, while ou starting pitching has been decent and our bullpen terrible. It's almost as if power and relief pitching cost money and we haven't spent any...

Despite our alright record, we are all but out of playoff contention already. The Yankees and Red Sox have run away with the division, both 12 games above .500, while the Indians and Astro's fight it out for the second wild card spot about 8 games ahead of us. Surprisingly the White Sox and A's lead the AL Central and West, you could probably get decent odds on that happening!

With that in mind it might be getting towards time to start shopping some of our veterans with an eye to opening up roster spots for McKay, Bauers, Robert and Adames.

        Vets on the block
        Saltalamachia .236, 10HR
        Cron .283, 5HR
        Beltre .269, 4HR
        Reyes .312, 1HR, 2SB
Fernando Rodney 12/13 Saves, 3.14 ERA
        Venters 3.65 ERA

I probably should shop Jung-ho Kang but the guy is hitting .335 with 8 homers so I really can't bring myself to do it! He's our entire offence most of the time, despite his terrible defence

We continue to play .500 baseball, but thankfully we are still just 2 1/2 games out as no one else in the division is playing much better.

We really need to put a run together of about 7 out of 10 or 8 out of 10 to get things heading in the right direction. Hopefully that run starts now as the calendar flips to June.

Speaking of June, the draft is a few days away. I have my big board ready. Hopefully this year's draft for us is better than last year's
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Well, we got roughed up to the tune of 1-5 in the next two series against Baltimore (which leaves us last in the East) and then Cleveland (who further opened up the gap between us and the 2nd Wildcard spot). The season has officially been declared dead, on the eve of the draft. (in which we get first pick at least!)

So with that, everyone in the final year may as well go to make room for the next generation to have a shot. I could wait a month, but why bother? A year of service time is a year of service time and I'd rather they got the extra month. So we traded away Saltalamachia, Beltre, Reyes, Venters, Chaz Roe, while DFA'ing Guyer and Cozens. We got pretty much nothing in return as this was mainly just a minor salary dump and a way to free up roster space. The only notable return would be Colin Moran, who isn't exactly something to write home about but can do a job platooning 3rd/SS with the newly promoted Willy Adames. (with veteran Kang moving between the positions depending on the matchup)

So up come SS Adames, 1B Bauers, CF Luis Robert, RHP De Leon, LHP Banda and last years first round pick, catcher Bryan Winslow. Top prospect Brendan McKay is currently out for a couple of weeks but when he returns we'll move on CJ Cron to make a spot for him, same goes for our top closing prospect Neil Biden with respect to the resurgent Fernando Rodney.

Exciting times in Tampa Bay as the next generation truly begins in earnest. It'll be tough for a while, but fans are a lot more tolerant of exciting prospects than they are of mediocre veterans.

This is quite unrealistic. The Yankees would never trade Andujar AND Sheffield let alone Andujar solo for Brad Hand.

Was approved in the trade log in this thread so I went with it. Two top notch prospects is what it costs for a top notch reliever with years of control, not even mentioning the contract won't ever pay him as a top 30 reliever. Trade is fair value, look back at the Ken Giles trade, Phillies got two of houston's top four prospects plus a top 15 prospect and a MLB arm in Brett Oberholtzer. Andujar solo wouldn't net Hand, one of the best relievers in MLB. Andujar is #63 prospect in baseball according to MLB.com, if you think you could get Hand for just Andujar, you are mistaken.

I think what he is trying to say, isn't that Andujar for hand isn't fair value, but that the Yankees view Andujar as having more value than Hand does.

It is the case of different organizations viewing players differently. A player's trade value is only what another team will give you. If a team will give you two top prospects for a relief pitcher, then great. Not every team will. Does that mean that Brad Hand isn't worth two top prospects? No. It just means that some teams view his value differently. Very doubtful that the Yankees would give up two high prospects for Brad Hand. Maybe another team would. It is all subjective. You can say that a player's value in a trade is two top prospects, but if no team is willing to give that in return, then is that player not worth that? Not necessarily. Just means that other teams don't view his worth as that much.

But, it's your franchise, if the trade is accepted, by all means make it.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

Updated my Tigers page. 68-18 through July 2nd, after taking 3 of 4 games in Toronto. 10.5 games ahead of the Indians.

Had to put Daniel Norris on the DL, and called up Warwick Saupold.

Rotation is really pitching well, aside from Matt Boyd. His 10-4 record is a bit deceiving, as his ERA stands at 5.49. He has gotten a lot of run support, and he has really stunk it up in recent starts. Will probably scour the trade market for an upgrade, though with the NL Wild card race really tight, (7 teams within 4.5 games) not too many starters are available. At least not yet. I will see how things shake up as it nears July 31st.

One thing I do in my franchises (30 team control) is I manually set the trade block for all the teams, but leave trades on Auto. If I see one that makes sense, I let it go through. However, as it gets closer to the deadline, I will actually make deals for other teams, that make sense, according to their needs.....

Not to mention that the further you go through the years, the less that approach will make sense.

The Marlins have opened the season at 4-1 with veteran ace Damian Boeve going for his second win in the early going.

"I've still got my stuff. Underestimate me at your peril. I know you all hope I'm fading out, but not yet, " Boeve smirked.

All isn't well to start the year, however. Sam Javeri has looked nothing like himself to start the year and also struggled in spring training. There is concern about him hiding an injury, but Javeri is insisting he is fine. Team doctors, so far, has found no issues either.

Javeri is batting just .217 with a .240 OBP. What's also strange is that he has two home runs already.

The one loss came at the hands of Bill McDonald out of the bullpen, but the rest of the starters behind Boeve has played very poorly out of the gate. Loren Rasmussen in particular looked lost, which is not a good sign when you throw Reagan-era fastballs.

Charlie Beaulieu and Frank Clemente also seemed overmatched. Beaulieu isn't too much of a surprise as even the Marlins think he's a touch overhyped, but Clemente falling apart would be disappointing for sure. Both Clemente and Huey Kiser, the one starter not named Boeve to be decent, are vying for the title of "next ace" once Boeve decides to stop terrorizing hitters.

Positive signs include catcher Julian Peralta hitting the ball well, though he's there mostly for his defense...but his arm isn't great. Accurate, but not that strong, so he'll need the bat to solidify his spot because Maxwell Lima, another defensive catcher, is waiting for his chance to prove he can also hit.

Bo Winter is hitting the ball and, speaking of the bat keeping a spot, that is Winter in a nutshell...because the defense is eroding. He completely misplayed a ball in left field into a triple, just lost the read on it. More of that will put the Marlins in a difficult spot. There's no DH to hide him in the NL and first base is occupied (albeit with inconsistent Alfonso Ortega, who might could get back to AAA to make room). Winter still has a bat worth of the title "best outfielder in the game", but that fielding is not even close anymore. It's bordering on liability at this point.

2028? Man's that crazy dedication! I admire that. I'm sure at your pace you are gunna see Ichiro Jr haha. That far in the future makes me wish you could do stadium upgrades or build new stadiums because I can't imagine playing 10 years in that current marlins park haha.

                                Actually 14 years

This is a file that started in MLB14 and has been carried over through each version of the game, though it temporarily "retired" because I didn't have MLB16 for PS4 (when I got my PS4, I got 17 not realizing it couldn't pull a PS3 save from the cloud into a PS4).

But that's been corrected and now my beloved franchise lives on.

As for Ichiro Jr, I'm trying to develop him. That's Sam Javeri. Even has Ichiro's swing.
