    OVERVIEW
A good second half proved to be all of not as we finish 8.0 games behind the Indians and 3.0 games out of the wildcard. Trading away top pitchers proved to be our down fall as the young guys could not get the job done. We are still negative budget wise and might look to move a older player or too who was underwhelming this season (Wellington Castillo) to get us in the green. Other than that we have control over everyone who matters.

It honestly depends on how much time I have in the day but I never advance through in one sitting. It usually takes me a week or longer to progress through the offseason.

I like to take my time, really evaluate what I’m doing vs what I want to do vs the changing landscape of the market and other teams rosters.

Reds signed LF Marcell Osuna to a 3 year $24M deal.

I did re-sign Dioner Navarro to a 1 year deal at $3M. I just don't feel 100% comfortable with Carson Kelly being the everyday catcher. Kelly will start the year again in Memphis.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

The trade with the Yankees for Josh Rogers just isn't going to happen. The asking price is insanely high for a guy who in his one full year at the major league level posted the numbers he did. He is left handed and young with a high ceiling, but I am not parting with the likes of Corey Ray, Elizer Alvarez, Kyle Funkhouser, Jack Flaherty, Aledmys Diaz, or Devon Snow. The Yanks wanted 3 of those players and that is just too much.

I'll continue to scout rosters and the market. We thought about Matt Moore who was a FA, but he signed with the Orioles.

I have kicked around the idea of Derek Holland who is on the market, but he hasn't been a full time starter in 3 years in my franchise.

Our outfield got a little less crowded, at the moment, as we didn't offer arbitration to Tommy Pham, allowing him to hit the open market. I thought about a sign and trade, but with how flooded the outfield market is/was at the time, I decided I didn't want to be take the risk of having that contract on the books in 2020. We may look to sign him as a free agent, providing his asking price decreases like Carlos Martinez's did.

Re: MLB The Show 18 Franchise Discussion Thread

I was just up 3-0 against the Braves in the 8th and I saw Washington got hammered by Baltimore so I thought I was going to be able to cut their lead to 4.5 games. Matz gave up a double and a weak single to start the 8th and put guys on first and third but I left him in because his pitch count was low and he was dealing through 7. He strikes the next two out and I think he's going to pitch out of it, then he induces a ground ball to 3rd but I gave Frazier the day off and Bautista was playing third and he booted the ball and let a run score. Then I bring in Swarzak and he blows the lead. 3-3 in the bottom of the 9th and Bautista boots another ball, Gsellman ends up loading the bases and we lose on a walk off line drive that bounces off my pitcher. That will be the last time Jose Bautista ever plays 3rd base, such a heartbreaking loss

                Atlanta Braves Franchise

                May 1, 2019

                Braves Record: 10-20 (5th)

My goodness, we could not be off to a worse start this season. Its May 1st and we finally just won our first series of the year, against the Mets at home. This team has just not jived at all, and has the worst record in the majors. I'm very disappointed as I made a lot of moves in the offseason to bolster the offense and the bullpen, and almost every player I brought in has been a bust. The silver lining is that the division is terrible. The Nats lost Harper to free agency and the rest of the East is mired in mediocrity. The Phillies, Mets, and Marlins are in a 3-way tie at the top with 15-16 records, so I am only 4.5 games out. If we can somehow claw our way back to relevancy before the all-star break it will be thanks to a good element of luck.

                Pitcher Stats

                SP Julio Teheran 3-2, 4.03
                SP Luiz Gohara 1-4, 4.02
                SP Lucas Sims 1-4, 6.18
                SP Sean Newcomb 2-2, 4.81
                SP Mike Foltynewicz 0-3, 6.59

                RP Matt Wisler 0-0, 5.19
                RP A.J. Minter 0-0, 5.87
                RP Tony Zych 0-1, 1.13
                RP Jose Ramirez 2-0, 1.98
                RP Grant Dayton 1-0, 3.65
                RP Bryan Shaw 0-2, 6.92
                CP Arodys Vizcaino 0-1, 5.56, 6 SV

The rotation has been crap aside from the occasional good start by Teheran or Newcomb. Sims will be heading down to Gwinnett in exchange for Mike Soroka, who is 2-2 with a 2.17 ERA after starting the year in AAA. Folty has been nothing but a disappointment after showing some promise in spring training. He goes to the pen in exchange for Wisler, who hasn't been great either but will get a chance to start and prove he can be a little bit better. Bryan Shaw was acquired in a trade during the offseason and has been terrible - he will be taking care of some mop-up duty until he can right the ship. Vizcaino had a few bad outings but has been better in his last few, so he keeps the closer role for now but is on thin ice. Rule 5 pick Tony Zych has been a rare bright spot, pitching to a 1.13 ERA and mowing down 29 batters in only 16 innings. Finally we got Tommy Layne back after a shoulder separation suffered during spring, so Minter goes to AAA.

                Position Players

                C Manny Pina .273 4 HR 7 RBI
                1B Freddie Freeman .347 4 HR 19 RBI
                2B Brian Dozier .212 3 HR 9 RBI
SS Ozzie Albies .239 2 HR 10 RBI
                3B Johan Camargo .178 1 HR 5 RBI
LF Marwin Gonzalez .198 2 HR 13 RBI
CF Ender Inciarte .297 2 HR 15 RBI
RF Ronald Acuna .286 1 HR 12 RBI

                C Rob Brantly .222 0 HR 1 RBI
IF Christian Colon .133 0 HR 0 RBI
IF Dansby Swanson .333 0 HR 8 RBI
OF Ezequiel Carrera .250 0 HR 5 RBI
UT Ryan Flaherty .176 0 HR 0 RBI

Let's start with the good here. Manny Pina has been very productive at catcher and Freddie Freeman is near the top of the league in most offensive categories. Dansby Swanson is getting on base at an eye-popping .519 rate and has wrestled the starting 3B job back from Johan Camargo. Inciarte has been solid and Acuna is hitting much better than last year, albeit with little power. Now the bad, Dozier and Gonzalez were my big free agent signings and to say they have underperformed is an understatement. Neither of them get hits with runners in scoring position. Pretty sure all of Doziers dingers have been solo shots in blowouts. Basically we don't score unless Swanson or Inciarte get on, steal a base, and get knocked in by Freeman. My bench players have all been automatic outs except for Carrera, who may replace Gonzalez as the starting LF for now. I'm honestly not sure how to further address these issues. Austin Riley is tearing it up in AAA but he can only play on the corners, which are not my problem areas and that doesn't suit him to be a backup infielder. Lane Adams is hitting over .300 in AAA so he could get the call in favor of Flaherty or Colon, or Camargo. Will have to think on that one.

Cheers to a better May. The draft is 34 days away and we have the 3rd pick. At this rate we will be picking first in 2020

How do you like playing day games at Suntrust? I can't for the life of me pick the ball up out of the pitcher's hand when I play there

For some reason its almost always raining or overcast during my home games. Not sure if the weather is actually so wet in Atlanta. Other than that I don’t mind it.

The 20-game lead in the division may be causing the Mets to look towards the postseason a little early. New York has lost 4 of its last 5 games. Hitting has been inconsistent and pitching flat out poor across the board. I'm looking forward to expanded roster so I can get my starters a little extra rest.

I'm going to play this season a bit differently. I'm going to play the first and last game of divisional series and I'm going to play the second game of non divisional series. If the non divisional series is a four game set, I'll play the 2nd and last games.

In past seasons I have done play one sim 5. Although it gets me through the season rather quickly, I sometimes miss a whole series and I kind of felt like I didnt really have an impact on the season. Hopefully this way will change that.

Thats exactly what i do, play one sim 5. I tinkered with playing every game and it took way too long to make progress (idk how some of you guys have the patience for it). Now i quick manage the 5 sim games and i think i like that best. The CPU makes strange decisions on a straight sim that bug me.

As we stand at the Rule 5 draft there is a bit of irony taking place in St.Louis.

Despite the fact that we have a crowded outfield, we signed Dexter Fowler to a one year $2.5M deal. That's right, we added to the issue of a crowded outfield.

The idea is that Pham is gone, at least a free agent, and is wanting appx $3.2M for his services. We get Fowler who is just as good, produced extremely well in Arizona last year and was willing to Platoon in the outfield.

The other thought is that we could possibly flip Fowler to a team that is seeking outfield depth. Normally I don't do that, but it is a thought if a team has a left handed starter I wish to pursue.

We are also going after Greg Garcia to be the 2nd infielder off the bench along with Aledmys Diaz. Garcia spent last year in Seattle and hit .270 in a limited role. He will provide a left handed bat and the ability to play 2B/SS/3B thus opening up our versatility. Hopefully he will sign.

We continue to scout the market for a left handed pitcher and I've lowered the bar a bit in seeking a MLB ready pitcher. We are now looking for a MLB ready pitcher, but also one that is on the cusp of pitching in the majors. I still keep going back to Josh Rogers, but the Yankees still want a fortune.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

What I do is play the first inning, fast forward 2-5 and then pick up in the 6th. That way I get a few innings in with my starter and get to handle all of the substitutions unless my starter gets shellacked in the first few innings and the cpu pulls him. I'll still sim games here and there but for the most part it allows me to be involved in the majority of my games and make decent progress

I had Garcia in my season with the Rangers last year. I got him in Free Agency. He is still with me in 2020 and hits 270-280. good utility infieder
