Frame rate seems choppy
Just played a few innings, but the games seems to stutter at times (especially on foul balls). I have a 55 inch LG TV. I think just 1080P? Maybe it’s a 4K. What’s the deal with the Choppy gameplay? Especially since I’m offline. Are there settings I should change in the game? Also, the game didn’t take up the full screen of my TV at first. I had to fix that.Tags: None -

Re: Frame rate seems choppy
Is your game fully installed yet?
Now I'll agree with you that the normal framerate still ain't all that to me. I still prefer Faster much more. I just don't know exactly how choppy it actually is for you.Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Frame rate seems choppy
Yeah I've been experiencing is very very bad I have my connection hooked up to my 4K 60 hertz behind my TV and I have to turn it into 1080p mode cuz when playing in 4k with HDR enabled I guess it's really bad stutter and I can't stand to look at it it's so weird I've never had this issue before

Re: Frame rate seems choppy
The PlayStation 4 Pro was a newer model released less than 18 months ago, I believe. Many games are optimized to perform better with its new internal hardware. The Pro offers one to play this game either at 1080p/60FPS, 2160p/30FPS, or 1440p with a framerate that kind of juggles in between (like the game would on any standard PS4 at 1080p, or so it seems).Samsung PN60F8500 PDP / Anthem MRX 720 / Klipsch RC-62 II / Klipsch RF-82 II (x2) / Insignia NS-B2111 (x2) / SVS PC13-Ultra / SVS SB-2000 / Sony MDR-7506 Professional / Audio-Technica ATH-R70x / Sony PS3 & PS4 / DirecTV HR44-500 / DarbeeVision DVP-5000 / Panamax M5400-PM / Elgato HD60Comment

Re: Frame rate seems choppy
A lot of people aren’t understanding it, so I’ll break it down best I can.
It is impossible for the game to run at 4K HDR at 60fps (smooth framerate). It typically runs at 30fps, which makes it look choppy. Only the absolute highest end PCs can do native 4K at 60fps.
That’s why there are 3 rendering modes:
1080p - full HD resolution, with a solid 60fps. Since it’s taking less computing power to render at a lower resolution (lower than 4K), that extra headroom allows for a smoother framerate.
1440p - as you increase the resolution, the framerate takes a hit. It’s a smaller hit here, compared to 4K, but still noticeable.
2160p (4K) - with the top resolution selected, we see better ambient occlusion, but that’s about it. Unlike PC games, there isn’t a full set of graphics sliders to tweak the balance between resolution and framerate. At 4K, the PS4 Pro can only handle a framerate of 30fps.
If you want a smoother gameplay experience, and you’re on a 1080p TV, select the 1080p mode. If you want better shadows and better overall sharpness, then you’re going to suffer in the framerate department.Comment

Re: Frame rate seems choppy
When I was installing it was choppy as hell, even on faster on a Pro. Once it was installed it was buttery smooth.Comment

Re: Frame rate seems choppy
Not challenging you, just genuinely curious - what display cable do PCs use to do 4K @ 60? I thought they ran HDMI?Comment

Edit: The reason why most gaming monitors use DisplayPort is because HDMI isn't capable of running Gsync or FreeSync (which are basically lag free versions of Vsync, a technique used to prevent screen tearing and other minute graphical glitches).Last edited by TheWarmWind; 03-23-2018, 09:22 PM.Comment

Re: Frame rate seems choppy
Newer versions of HDMI can run 4k 60 fps, but most monitors have both HDMI and display port inputs. Most people use displayport these days.

Ah, that’s right. I forgot about Gsync and FreeSync. Nvidia and AMD, respectively, right?Comment
