Potentials drop starting a Franchise
When starting a franchise why do all the potentials drop? I started as the Mets and for example Thor when 92 to 88, Conforto 85 to 77. Is this a bug?Tags: None -
Re: Potentials drop starting a Franchise
This is likely due to their morale. If they are upset with their role on the team, their contract, etc., their ratings will decline.Orbis Non Suficit -

Ratings sure, but their potentials? I don't recall this in previous years. Could be wrong. I only recall potentials changing at the end of the month sometimes when you get those inbox messages.Comment

Re: Potentials drop starting a Franchise
I guess I am confused then...the OP mentioned number ratings. Potential is the letter grades (A, B, etc.). So I just assumed ratings were what was meant.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: Potentials drop starting a Franchise
Yep, it's due to the morale...for example, in my Franchise I started last night, Javy Baez fell a few ratings points because he's upset with his contract and his role (he wants to be "Star", but is considered an "Everyday" player). This was also prior to the first game of the season.
I did not notice any potential grades dropping...just player ratings.Orbis Non SuficitComment

Re: Potentials drop starting a Franchise
My bad I should have worded it better it is the overall rating dropping not the potential. I'll take a look at it later to see what the morale is but just seems funny every player dropping some points before anything even happens. Whats the point in that to start out? I can see as the season went along the morale changes but not at the beginning of camp and for that much of a drop. Conforto went 85 to 77Comment

Some may be upset over their role with the team. Maybe a starter wanted to be the Ace of the staff and he's not. Or a position player wants to play everyday but his role is the bench.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: Potentials drop starting a Franchise
However I think it's worth noting or discovering are there morale messages based off of potential? I noticed in the player editor you can edit potential 1- 99..
I wonder if morale is based off of potential or overall more? I know things like playing time and where you bat in the lineup effect as well

Re: Potentials drop starting a Franchise
Technically the potentials have number values. If you edit a player, their potential is on the 99 pt scale just like every other attribute. However it only shows up as a letter on other screens. 90-99 is A, 80-89 is B, etc.Comment

Good to know...thanks for the info. I am just used to seeing a letter grade and had no idea a number was behind it.Orbis Non SuficitComment
