Outfielder errors/"scripted" games??!!
Is this intentional this year? It never fails. Simple fly balls, especially in close games in late innings, are being missed. Like clockwork. Last night vs CPU , tie 2-2 in the 15th inning, routine fly ball to my right fielder, bam, ball flies over his glove, allowing the runner to get to 3rd, next batter, singles in the runner, ending the game. (I have it on auto fielding). This scenario has happened more than once. The scripted endings are getting ridiculous. No matter what pitch I give the CPU, they will always make a comeback, they don't always win, but no matter how many runs I am up, the CPU will get few in the 8th or 9th, conveniently by errors in my outfield. It's enough to throw the controller at the monitor! I have at All star setting(both hitting, pitching). The outfielder issues are bad this year, guys diving for balls that are nowhere near them, and missing, base hits rolling past them, resulting in triples. Anyone else seeing this?Last edited by Bochte23; 04-05-2018, 12:55 PM.Tags: None -
Re: Outfielder errors/"scripted" games??!!
Nope
I've blown out the CPU, been blown out by the CPU, and I've come back once to win and so has the CPU in my 12 games of franchise. (not counting games played during play now)
Nothing feels scripted, nothing feels cheap, and as it has been stated before there is no comeback AI or scripting in the game.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

The only thing I've really noticed and is getting on my nerves is that when a ball goes over an outfielders head they will start to run towards it, then stop, while another outfielder runs to the ball from (far away) and fields the ball. I've had two guys get in the park homers on me because of this *issue. It makes no sense for the guy to stop going for the ball and waiting on someone else. This is with auto fielding by the way.Comment

I guess I should state that I use manual fielding.
Maybe its an issue with AUTO fielding and not an issue with scripted games/comeback logic.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Re: Outfielder errors/"scripted" games??!!
I second country boy. I have had some games where I have been stopped, some games where I do the stomping, some games where I am getting stomped and come back, some games where I am stomping and the cpu comes back, and of course tight and close games. This game feels far from scripted.
To the OP. I know sometimes you can run into a stretch of bad luck that feels like everything is going against you but that's baseball my man. Ohtani pitching debut on Sunday against the Athletics Kris Davis had to deep fly balls hit his glove he wasn't able to bring down for a catch. Granted they were very tough catches but it's an example that it happens.
Furthermore I have yet to see an outfielder muff a straight up fly ball, so I can't really say I have experienced what you are experiencing. Straight up fly balls that are not well hit are like magnets for me and the cpu. Haven't seen one error on these in over 50 games.Comment

Re: Outfielder errors/"scripted" games??!!
I haven’t had a chance to play much this year, but there was definitely scripted or “high percantge no matter what” plays in games from at least 14 to 17. The most prominent is the runner on 2nd batter laces one right down the 3b line. It didn’t matter the pitch or the location or the handedness of the batter.Comment

The scripted game thread is as predictable as the "players aren't trying" threads in fan forums.Comment

Re: Outfielder errors/"scripted" games??!!
I have only played two games but in the second one I had the opposite outcome that the OP had. Tied 1-1 in the top of the ninth and my pinch hitter hits a liner to the gap in right center. RF dove and the ball glanced off his glove for a triple which led to my beating the CPU 2-1. And I got through the bottom of the ninth without a comeback by the CPU.
I thought it was way cool realistic.
BTW, the amount of games I have played will increase rapidly. I just got the game Monday and each day when I wake up all I want to do is play The Show 18 for 16 hours straight. Then I go to work.Comment

Re: Outfielder errors/"scripted" games??!!
You’ve never had a hitter hook a low and away slider right down the 3b line or have a guy with no power (right handed) rocket a fastball in on his hands to the right center gap for a run to score from first? Never? Those are things that happen once a week, maybe, not multiple tiles a game.Comment

auto field/manual throw since inception of this game. It is not an issue.Comment
