If you can come to grips that the headscratching trades the CPU makes won't be the exact same as the headscratching trades IRL GM's make, then it can be as realistic as any franchise with 30-team control on.

I do as well. I personally have never used 30 team control on any of my franchise plays. I also no longer use OSFM rosters or any sliders. I play the game out of the box with the default rosters and just play my own little baseball world.

I control all 30-teams.
I quick manage/retro/ff each game.
I SIM to 6th and 8th inning of each game.
I can take control of team with lead, and manage BP moves. It is a joy, indeed.
