    Advice please

I have started a franchise with the Chicago Cubs because they’re my team since I was 5 and I love them but it doesn’t seem
    Right being them cause
They’re so good. We’re 4-0 to start the season and they’ve been in postseason several
Years in a row. Problem is if I try anyone else I tend to what to start over with a new team
After about two weeks. Started one with the Rockies and played 8 games now thinking about deleting and doing a Mets one. Just don’t know what to do. Anyone have this problem?

    Re: Advice please

I understand your problem, in all sports games I can only play as my favorite team or else I lose interest.

Best advice is to turn up the difficulty to make it harder to be the Cubs. Or do a fantasy draft so you're still the Cubs but have different players.

try a different hitting or pitching mechanic.

Alter Mike's sliders to make the game more difficult for you.

              Re: Advice please

I tend to run 2 franchises. One Cubs one every year as that's my favorite team as well. Since they're a great team it makes it a challenge to make sure I actually earn that postseason spot. After that the playoffs are a different monster.

The 2nd one I always pick a rebuild team and just simulate games while controlling everything in the organization. Last year I picked the White Sox. This year I'll go with the Marlins.

Having the two very different teams makes things fresh from a franchise point of view.

It's the same reason I tend to run 3 different RTTS players - one SP, one CP, one position player.

I've played The Show since MLB 08, and before that MVP Baseball, and before that other baseball games. Always the Cubs. No one else. I've played through many a dark years. I have to say I love actually playing the game with a good Cubs team. I remember one year I came in third place with the Cubs and felt like that was quite an accomplishment with the team I had.

Something I did one year was go into the roster control screen and swap all players on two teams, so that your team isn't as good as they are in real life.

So, for instance, swap all players with the Cubs and the Rockies if that is the team you were looking at. Then you'll be the cubs, but with the roster of the Rockies.

I used the Cubs in 15 before they were good again. I can't use them now since they're so good; it's not really fun. I like the idea of the fantasy draft. I'd go with that if you can't last with a different team

                      Re: Advice please

As an Astros I know the feeling. In the past I have really enjoyed going through the rebuild with them. The past few years their rebuild has been complete, so I just had to try to get them over the top. Now they have done it and their team is ridiculously good.

So I decided not to use them this year. Instead I went with the Rays since they are in the position to rebuild. It's my favorite way to play this game.

For me personally, I have found that instead of playing some games and simming a bunch, I really enjoy doing a Quick Manage in every single game. It's a quick way to get through games but I still feel like I have a say in how it goes.

I can't be anyone other than the Yankees in the game. If I pick another team, I feel like I'm not being a loyal fan(weird I know) This year it seems almost wrong, because I hit 3 or 4 homeruns a game, but at the same time, I've had several years where I've struggled with them as well.

Stick with the Cubs. What is realistic is that you are the GM & you are not Theo or Hoyer or Maddon or even Ricketts. What might be realistic is there is a need to shed some of that $162 million albatross budget. The Competitive Balance Tax Threshold is $145 million. You owe it to your fans to reduce ticket prices. You don't need a complete rebuild to accomplish that.

Don't know what rosters you're using so these are just examples from the default .You can look more closely at your roster to fine-tune the details.

Mike Freeman isn't happy. Move him for someone that is closer to under a 65 overall.
You may be emotionally attached to Ben Zobrist but c'mon the man is ancient at 36. Shed that nearly $5 million dollars.
In your heart you know Chris Gimenez isn't the answer to your backup catcher role. Bang. Gone. Dump him. Another $3plus million saved.
Justin Wilson ain't satisfied with his 2 million, find someone who can appreciate minimum wage and is under 65 overall.
Lester & Duensing aren't they future of Chicago baseball so ... bang, gone.
All of these guys replaced with minimum wage guys rated 65 & under brings the budget under the tax at a cool $142 million.

CB is also spot on about sliders reduce by 1 human contact power timing solid hits control & consistency. Increase by 1 all of the same for the cpu.

The Show has been traditionally balanced toward randomness, in that presuming your settings aren’t objectively too easy for you, you’re GOING to lose a good 33% of your games just by the nature of things. So in the case of a stacked team, just shoot for the moon. Start 35-5 like the ‘84 Tigers and don’t look back, no apologies. So long as it’s not straight-up silly (8+ runs per game), I don’t see the issue.

My suggestion is to play it out. It’s only been 4 games. This game has a funny way of humbling you when you think that you are dominating your opponents and can’t be stopped. It’s a long season and the playoffs are a completely different animal.

Last year I did a Dodgers franchise. I simmed through 2017 and 2018 so that I could go through the big Free Agency class and bring Harper to LA. I did along with a few other smaller pickups. I played every inning of every game. I had a monster season and we had the best record in baseball. We hit over 300 HRs as a team and Harper broke Bonds’ record with 81 HR(ridiculous I know, he hit like 10 in the final week of the season). I was expecting us to blow through the playoffs and take the WS. Nope. We couldn’t even get through the Giants in the NLCS to make the World Series. The playoffs were hard. Every pitch, every at bat was so intense. I can’t wait to get back there this year!
