Questions for people with Carry Overs from the beginning

Hello fellow carry over enthusiasts! Just got a couple of curiosity questions for you. First of all I wanted to see how many of us are still out there in the wild chugging away at the save you started in 14.

    1. Franchise, RttS, or both?

    2. In your opinion, what is the most shocking difference between real life and your universe?

    3. Who is the best created player in your leagues? The best created player on your team? Your personal favourite?

    4. What teams have you been on (remember GMs can switch teams). What was your favourite (if applicable).

    5. (Franchise only) Did you abuse the broken trade system in 14 to stack your team?

    My answers:

    1. Franchise only

    2. Drew Hutchison developed into a top tier starter, winning the cy young twice. His name and appearance has changed, but he is currently the ace of the Brewers.

    3. All are the same person. I drafted Jose Lozano, a SP, in the first round of the 2014 draft. He had some risk, but he was rated 99 potential, and I was really shocked when the first few teams in the draft skipped over him. He is playing his first full season in the majors this year (2019), and after a rocky start he is quickly developing into my best pitcher. His kit is based around control and movement, and his best pitches are a 2SFB and a splitter, but he can use all five of his pitches effectively.

    4. Blue Jays only.

    5. Oh yeah. I abused the stuffing out of that. I got away with murder. I mean, I traded Adam Lind for Eric Hosmer 1 for 1! I'm embarrassed to talk about how loaded my team is. It's not only the best team in the majors but it has the best farm system. By a long shot. A REALLY long shot. Turns out, once you are asset rich and winning, it's really easy to stay asset rich and winning. My most stacked season was in 2017 (in game), where I had a full rotation of Aces and a bench that made the middle of most orders look anemic.

Nice thread topic WarmWind! I'm still going strong with my carryover Franchise (Astros 2020 year) and RTTS (3B now in year 2026) from MLB 14. I do often wonder how other players universes are shaping up. As a precursor, both my Franchise and RTTS were started using OSFM '14 - so a lot of today's real life stars (Judge, Springer, Lindor, Thor, Correia, etc.) are there, but as CAPs. Ive updated (in franchise) their looks, gear and motions every year; not touching any ratings though. All except Judge have developed into players of their real life caliber, which is a testimate of the great work roster makers do. (Judge was probably not a highly rated CAP). Anyway, to answer your questions...

    1. Both

    2. In franchise I would say that most shocking is that the Dodgers are not a competitive team at all, and Washington is an absolute powerhouse in both my franchise and RTTS. The won three WS titles in four years from 2018-2021 in my RTTS. We finally won the WS in franchise in 2019, after finishing runner-up in 2016 and 2017.

    3. Who is the best created player in your leagues?
RTTS - besides me, SEA SP Gil Lyles, SEA DH Earl Lund, Franchise - CLE 1B Hunter Morris (won 2018 MVP), TEX SP Lewis Palmeiro (won 2019 Cy Young) nasty stuff, that I saw first hand as a division foe.

The best created player on your team?
RTTS - BOS RF Eli Lugo and 2B Rick Klaszewski (denied me the Triple Crown by batting .397 in 2025.
Franchise - HOU 3B Matt Rogers

Your personal favorite? Eli Lugo. Was my teammate in BOS, put up some great years, then went to SD in free agency. He was MVP material but beat him out twice. I think he had enough of playing second fiddle.

    4. Franchise - HOU only.
RTTS - Drafted by and played 6 years in PIT. Signed 10yr/$300M contract with BOS in free agency. Currently in year 5 of that deal.

    5. I guess a little. I managed to get Bryant and Lester from the Cubs, in a lop-sided deal. The game paid me back last year after Lester won the Cy Young and retired on me, lol.

A few notes on player movements (strange faces in new places) I have noticed...

    RTTS (in 2026):
    Strasburg - SFG
    Kimbrel - BAL
    Castellanos - OAK
    Wilmer Flores - LAD
Machado - SD (was in BAL until 2025)
    B. Harper - NYM
Heyward - was my teammate in BOS, can't remember where he went in 2026
    Stanton - NYY (surprise)

Franchise (more real-life players in 2020):
    Miguel Cabrera - NYY
    Jose Reyes - DET
    Thor - WAS
    Judge - NYM
    Schwarber - CWS
    Ellsbury - DET
    Kris Davis - LAA
    Matt Harvey - DET
    Gerrit Cole - BOS
Matt Kemp, Colby Rasmus - CHC
    Rizzo - LAD

      Great thread!

Unfortunately I lost my '14 carryover in '16 due to an issue that cause my data to become corrupted.

But I'll answer in terms of playing since '16 (Year 2019)

      1) Franchise Only

      2) Probably the most shocking was how dominant the Rays had been. They went to the World Series in '16 and then went to the ALCS in '17. In '18 they missed the playoffs and this year they are really struggling.

      3) The best CAP in the league (granted I edit players to match draft and all) is probably Ronald Acuna of the Braves. He was quickly brought to the Majors and has been tearing it up.

As for my team, its Magnerius Sierra. He won rookie of the year in 2017 and is a threat to be a 20 homer 50 stolen base guy each year. In 2017 when he won the award, he hit 18 homers and stole 38 bases. Last year he hit 20 homers and stole 40 bases. This year he's on the DL until the All-Star break with a broken arm.

      4) I've only been the Cardinals.

      5) In '14 I didn't really stack my team as I've always preferred to develop players than "buy" them.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

        Franchise only Braves.

        2. In your opinion, what is the most shocking difference between real life and your universe? Bryce Harper is still on the Nationals. Jose Fernandez is a Cy Young winner for the Yankees.

        3. Who is the best created player in your leagues? The best created player on your team? Your personal favourite?Don't recall for the league but I got a closer that made completely not miss Kimbrel.

        4. What teams have you been on (remember GMs can switch teams). What was your favourite (if applicable). Braves still, though I probably should have already been fired.

        5. (Franchise only) Did you abuse the broken trade system in 14 to stack your team?
No, I'm sentimental and find it hard to get rid of most guys. I'll let them retire a Brave if at all possible.

Re: Questions for people with Carry Overs from the beginning

          1. Franchise

          2. My league had become a league of pitchers for a long time. Even IRL aces in their prime were having a hard time getting signed, and I'll never forget the year three of them retired out of the FA pool. Team ERA's topped out at like 3.70 (that was last place), my ace had a 1.60 ERA and had to fight off three guys for the ERA title, it was insane but I loved it

Another surprise was some of the prospects. Buxton, for about 6-7 years, was the definitive best player in baseball, even over Trout. He was a do-it-all monster. I'm glad he was in the AL (I'm the Marlins), and he was never traded or became a FA.

Oh and Jurickson Profar, a 78 OVR player, wanted $24 M per year to sign. I never saw an average player want that kind of contract and never saw it again since.

          3. The answer to first two questions is both is Damian Boeve, a pitcher I drafted 2nd overall when I started in 2014. He was one of those "blue chip" guys. His story will never happen again, barring a reversion to that player dev. engine, because of "decisions" made for the player development.

The answer to the last one is Clay Huff. He was a pure finesse pitcher that had a godlike H/9 rating and minimal K/9 and threw very slowly. I had him for a few years before he left via free agency and I still followed his career. I got Loren Rasmussen now - who looked like a washout but became a middle-of-the-rotation starter. Reminds me a lot of Huff.

Honorable mention to my Ozzie Luis. I call him "the best long reliever in history". He really should be a starter, but he was a "nobody" reliever that took off in Stamina and /9 and then grew his pitches.

Man I miss MLB14-15 player development. Anyone could grow in any way and sometimes you get the completely unexpected. Reminded me of OOTP and how I never really want to give up on anyone without thought or cause because I might cut/trade the next diamond in the rough. Really, really miss that. Pitcher development is so predictable now

          4. Marlins from the start, now in Year 15.

          5. No - it just happened via development, especially how it was for pitchers in 14 and 15. In fact, I often traded young up-and-comers away for more solid prospects because there was no way I could keep them all or play them all.

Offensively, the team has a lot of solid players, a couple good power threats, and a lineup that ends at the 6th spot, basically lol. 7, 8, pitcher is like...yeah okay, nothing gonna happen here.

Bench is solid but the only possible starter is Prince Jimenez, who'll probably be taking LF in a few seasons based on how my starter LF had started declining.

Otherwise, they make good PH bats and occasional starters. Nothing I'd want to run with for a full 162.
