Re: How many more patches do you see being released for MLB The Show 18?
According to the devs there will be at least one more patch.
As for myself, I don't have anything that I feel "needs fixed" via a patch. The game is playing beautifully for me after patch 1.10. It was actually playing great before patch 1.10, but the slight changes to the PCI made the game even better in my opinion.
Things that I would like to see patched have nothing to do with gameplay and would be off the field improvements/additions/changes that I doubt they will spend patch time on. It's more of something that is worked on during the normal development cycle.
So for me, if they release a patch then great, but I'm not "needing/wanting" one to make the game play better, because for me its playing great.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.
I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Re: How many more patches do you see being released for MLB The Show 18?
Last year's final patch happened around early August. That's much later then most years, but given that information I think it's safe to say that there will be at least one more patch.
There are several things I hope are in the patch (my wish list is forever unending) but if I were to pick one thing I want most in the patch, it's that I want them to patch in missing modern uniform options, the Blue Jays alternate white panel hat in particular (with matching helmets). It's painful to see them wearing it in real life and to be unable to pick them in the Show.
I try wearing the old throwback white panel hats, but the different symbol and mismatched shade of blue is irksome to say the least.

Repetitive commentary. By May in franchise, when players have had a chance for extended hitting streaks, Matty V. and DeRo keep saying the same thing over and over again during the same at bat about the players hitting streak.

Off the top of my head, the only thing I see that I'd really liked patched is the Phillies' red. It's still too dark. I think it's the only team that wasn't fixed, this year. When you have OCD, crap like that just sticks out.#LFC

If the over/under is 2, then I'm saying 1. But if I can pick an even 2, then 2 is my final answer. Even if one is dedicated to art asset touch ups.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: How many more patches do you see being released for MLB The Show 18?
Appreciate MLB The Show the game and studio effort, But for me far too many core baseball fundamentals missing at this point in the series and I just don't think a patch will fix it!
Especially from the perspective I play which is single player mode relying on CPU teammates to make core fundamental decisions on the field in both offense and defense!
At this point in the series I feel the pure focus for the way the game plays is no longer the single player and CPU teammate experience as you may be able to alleviate some issues with full team control gameplay.
Single Player Defensive Shifts
But something troubling from a single player gameplay perspective that maybe could be patched. I would say defensive shifts when you are playing a position on defense.
A.) If you do not move your player in time before the countdown timer. You will remain in the same position on the field while your CPU teammates are none the wiser and will shift to their spots on the field. It's like you are not apart of the defense. Defense should feel like it's orchestrated.
B.) If you do move your player when said countdown timer appears. You will continuously need to move your player to the shift spot after each pitch!
It's the implementation that needs to be fixed and has existed in the series for the last 5 yearsso I think the effort is much more granular than a patch!
Base Lead Off and Return Interactions
***Continuously holding the left stick to return safely to a base to avoid being picked off is not a feature!*** Something is wrong under the hood! It would be another band aid to include different animations for lead off runners and the way runners return back to the bag after a pitch sequence ends and not fix the main problem. But it's even more daunting when you realize that you have been starring at the same animations for all the previous year's iterations!
Player Lock Stamina UI Issue
You can continuously player lock a player and there is no way in the UI to know what level of stamina your selected player or teammates have! According to the game it's infinite energy and you can continuously play without any performance/stamina issues as well as your teammates.
Auto LineUps Based On Performance
I thought this years game brought logic to move players around in the lineup according to performance! I may have miss heard the stream and maybe the logic focus was player call ups and send downs. Either way my line up never changes unless I manually do it. Even though all of my Franchise settings are set to auto!
Game Watch from 1st Inning
Those who play this way still can't understand or justify why! Batting 8th and coming up to bat down by several runs! If you are trying to win a game I am sure you would feel the same way!
MLB The Show 19 will most likely have new uniform and graphic tech! But there is too much wrong underneath the hood to appreciate any new graphical tech, features or modes in the next version. The casual gamer will never notice and be wowed by the next set of features. But the player who has been with the series will definitely notice!Last edited by jada855; 06-02-2018, 05:33 AM.Proud member of the 0.04%Comment
