    CPU Stealing Home

Twice recently I've had the CPU attempt a double steal with guys on 1B on 3B, and both times with mediocre runners on 3B. I've instinctively thrown to 2nd each time since I wouldn’t think the guy on third would instantly be going, and they easily score as a result.

I could see if it was a suicide squeeze or a delayed steal, but as is, it just seems like really bad baseball logic...although it has cost me a run in both instances lol...but it also would've been an easy out if my catcher had simply held the ball and tagged the runner coming home.

Hopefully they can do something to improve the AI logic in this scenario, because now that I know to play around it, I'll just get a free out every time they attempt this.

After years of playing, have never experienced this.

      Well...good for you...lol.

Not sure how that helps though.

        Re: CPU Stealing Home

When I first saw this thread I thought it was going to be in relation to the CPU attempting suicide squeezes.

I haven't experienced this myself, but am curious about the following:

        * Does the guy on third automatically break as well or is he waiting on you to throw?
        * Does it only happen in certain counts? Certain number of outs?
        * When/if it happens again, if you don't throw to 2nd does the runner on 3rd still come home?

I really am not sure what to offer to help outside of trying to determine what triggers the cpu to do this. Because as you stated and how its happening, its poor baseball AI that results in an easy out.

EDIT: If it happens again, could you take a video of it?
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

Thanks for the constructive post, CB. As I said, the runner from 3rd breaks immediately. I wish I could recall the counts, but I know there were less than 2 outs the last time it happened as I nabbed the runner stealing 2nd and the other guy scored (which was really frustrating because it was the go-ahead run late in a tie game). I will definitely make a video if it happens again.

The fact that the CPU did this twice blew my mind, but especially with less than 2 outs with a guy in scoring position in a close game. All they needed was a sac fly to score him. Like I said, I could understand the squeeze, but this is just recklessly weird.

Yeah that is horrible CPU AI.

I was thinking, not that this makes it any better because it doesn't, but I'm wondering if its a glitch where the CPU is attempting a suicide squeeze but the batter isn't bunting?? A bug of some sort????

Again it doesn't make that much difference in terms of it being ok the logic the CPU is using, but it would I guess assist in the devs in fixing a bug???

Really mind boggling to say the least....

Hopefully it doesn't happen again but if it does and you can capture a video, maybe sharing it would help the devs recognize what is happening and fix it.

That was actually my first thought as well: a suicide squeeze that never fully materialized, which as you said would be a bug or bad AI as well.

Maybe the AI is actually more realistic than we think and there was a botched sign somewhere along the line.

Didn’t know you were looking for help. I read that you wanted them to do something to fix the AI. That it was a glitch in the game.:nocomprende

Either way, your post only serves to frustrate someone who HAS experienced this and doesn’t contribute anything else.

I’ve also played the game for many years without seeing this, which makes seeing it twice already this year all the more bewildering.

Yeah, I know the frustration when somebody posts a problem with the game, says they know a work around, and doesn’t ask for a solution. Again you posted like it was a glitch, found your solution, but thought the devs needed to fix the AI. I’ll ignore your future posts.

What are you even talking about? It is a glitch from what I’ve seen so far and I have NOT found a solution or a workaround...did you even read the first post completely? Doesn’t seem like it...

But if this is your norm, then I’m glad you’re ignoring my posts because that means you’ll stop posting useless gibberish in reply to serious posts lol.

Did you read your own post? You said you just play around it and get an easy out. You weren’t asking for help, or ideas. I replied i had never seen this. Lighten up.

“Playing around it” saves me a run, but it's not a solution or a workaround to this issue...What I was saying is that hopefully they fix it because now that I know to simply hold the ball, it actually makes the bug even worse because it just becomes a cheesy easy out in what was otherwise a close game...definitely ruins the immersion and not a solution to the issue. The only solution I can see would be for SDS to prevent this from happening at all, which is actually what I asked for originally. Sorry if that wasn’t clear.
