Substitution Help
I just botched a substitution in the 9th inning pretty badly so I'm hoping someone can help me figure out how to do this properly for next time. Here is the scenario, it's the bottom of the 8th and I'm down a run with Todd Frazier on 3rd and one out, so I pinch run Juan Lagares for him, I've still got Wilmer Flores on the bench so the plan is for Flores to come in for Lagares and play third base in the 9th. I end up taking the lead and the pitchers spot comes up so I pinch hit with Flores with the intention of keeping him in the game and putting my closer in Lagares' spot. The inning ends and it tells me I have a position player in at pitcher(Flores). I'm thinking I need to switch Flores and Lagares so that Flores is at 3rd and Lagares is now the pitcher and then just sub in my closer, but it won't let me, and now it won't let me bring a reliever in at all and I have to pitch to a batter with Wilmer Flores. I intentionally walk the batter and then bring my closer in to try and close the game with a CF playing third base and I proceed to give up a two run HR and blow the lead. Ironically I ended up winning on a walkoff hit by Lagares in the 9th when it would have been the pitcher's spot coming up to bat if I didn't mess this all up so my Mickey Calloway-esque incompetence paid offTags: None -
Re: Substitution Help
Interesting, I thought you could only double switch when you are bringing in someone off your bench, not when you're keeping a pinch hitter in the game in the pitcher's spot -
Re: Substitution Help
When you select double-switch after bringing in a pinch hitter, it will ask if you want to keep the pinch hitter in the game. Then you select the spot for your pitcher. You can then switch fielding spots to get everyone playing where you want. Hope that makes sense.
