Team Vs. Starting Rotation Vs. Bullpen E.R.A.

ok was thinking the other day while playing and going through my teams starting rotation and bullpen. why DON'T we have a break down of team E.R.A. starting rotation ERA and bullpen ERA.

It would be great to see how your starting rotation ranks in the league and MLB against all other teams. same with bullpens.

    anyone agree???

which also brings up the whole... why no LEAGUE rankings and just MLB style rankings.. that we weed as well for every stat category

100% agree! I was playing my franchise the other night and was literally wondering the same thing.

the problem for the Show is, for every 100 stats it tracks, there is literally a thousand more it cant.

why not. back in 1995-97 Front Page Baseball Pro on the pc was capable. We are basically gaming on a pc right? that to me is just a major cop-out. we should have breakdowns for everything in this game that we can see or hear about on MLBN or read about on the internet... it was available 20 years ago on way lesser pcs than we are playing on now in terms of our consoles... something is SERIOUSLY wrong... just my thinking

I have so often wondered this. Maybe i just dont understand consoles, but in the mid-80's my Tandy Color Computer 2 with 16K memory kept way more extensive baseball stats than the Show. Way more. 16K. The whole computer. Lol. And it was accurate and fast.

Seems like a PS4 could do that hundreds of times over with no problem at all if they wanted. Again, maybe i just dont understand consoles. But if not, my 16K memory computer from Radio Shack in 1985 was, in certain ways, more powerful than a PS4.

The problem is it keeps track of so many "advanced stats" no one cares about. I don't need to know someone's isolated power. I'd rather have a "team page," which told me how I've done against opponents, starter and bullpen stats both for and against, etc. I'd also love a season series breakdown before each series, who I pitched well against, which of their pitchers I've struggled against (especially relievers), etc.

I really don't understand why they can't keep advanced stats and still do what you're suggesting. I would like that too. This is why i keep score myself. So i can tell quickly that Altuve is 14 for 40 against me, hitting .350. While Matt Chapman on the A's is 4 for 25 with 9 K's against me. I have faced Danny Barnes 4 times and only have 2 hits against him. Yet Ryan Tepera has a 7.71 ERA against me. Estrada has been a terror to me, striking me out 14.25 per 9. I can also tell by this that i definitely dont want to shift against Josh Donaldson anymore. If the Show won't do it I'll do it myself lol.

What do you use to stat track? I use an excel sheet but just cover my teams stats.

I dont think so. My ps4 cant do a tenth of the things my pc can.
Occasionally I will browse the internet with my ps4 and the differences are stark.
heck, my ps4 cant even play cd's

I keep score as i play the game, so i dont have to input everything after the game. So i get every player's stats, including my opponent. The only thing i dont track are simmed games of course. So all stats from other teams are all from playing against me, so i can tell exactly how they have played against me. I still physically input some batter snd pitcher analysis into another spreadsheet after the game, which only takes a couple of minutes.

I also included Josh Donaldson's spray chart against me. I hate him.

What services do you use? This makes me want to fire mlb back up, if you'll remember we talked in the Mike Lowe thread, had to take a break because I was frustrated with sliders being to difficult. [emoji3][emoji3][emoji3]

                        You're comparing apples and oranges.

While Front Page Baseball Pro may have had more stats than the Show, there are plenty of things that it didn't offer, that the Show provides. The allocation of resources are vastly different between Front Page Baseball Pro and The Show.

I guess what i dont understand is how a computer with virtually zero resources to begin with can do this, and a ps4 cant, no matter the allocation of resources. It seems like there would be enough resources in the PS4's pinky toe to run all the numbers my entire 16k computer ran, plus some.

Im not arguing the point at all, i really just dont understand consoles i guess. There may be a good reason, i just don't know it yet. Its a little surprising that we are 33 years into the future, and cant allocate a sliver of a fraction of the ps4 to run the numbers an ancient 16k computer handled...

Consoles must be just completely different, or somehow data has increased in how much resources it needs? No idea lol.

Nobody is saying the PS4 can’t, it absolutely has the ability.

What I was suggesting was that the devs of the Show choose to allocate the PS4 resources differently than that of the FPBP on the PC back then.

FPBP has deep stats, but what else did it have that MLBTS doesn’t? What does MLBTS have that FPBP didn’t?

Everyone looks at what a game back then did that a current game doesn’t, but they don’t look at it the other way, what a game today does that a game of yesterday didn’t.

Yes the consoles now are more powerful than its predecessors but they also expand on some of the key components (gameplay, graphics, lighting) using that additional power.
