    Trade Deadline in Franchise Mode

Is there any possible way to turn off the trade deadline in Franchise Mode? Perhaps in the past additions there was an option, but I forgot. And I’m not some huge genius who knows the ins and outs of the game.

I’m approaching the deadline in my franchise and I follow the real-life rosters and don’t want to play/sim through the deadline yet if there is no definitive way of turning it off - especially if some significant trade were to occur - but I really want to play.

If there is absolutely no option to disable it, I guess I’m stuck and will have to wait. Which is fine, I suppose.

    Anybody? Thought I’d ask.

I don't know if there is a way to turn the TD off after you started (if at all). One thing you could do if you can't wait is once you pass the deadline, is to pass everyone through trade waivers (or those that come up in real life trades) and make the waiver trade on you calendar after they happen. I'm assuming you have 30-team control to keep the rosters close to real life. The only thing you'd need to consider is making sure that you do stop 4 or 5 days before the Sept call ups as I think once you hit that you can't trade playoff eligible players. So if deGrom gets traded for a prospect, pass deGrom through waivers, set so no one claims him, once passed through he's good until Aug 31 (I think) to be traded for another waiver-cleared player. Suggest saving the current game as one file and a renamed save that you could experiment with in case my suggestions is flawed.

Thank you for the tips, man. Much appreciated. I figured the whole waivers scenario would be the only option if there was no way of turning the trade deadline off, but just a little more work. I’ll have to figure out a method and your suggestions help. Thanks!

Not sure if it will work this year but after the trade deadline, if you search for a player in the find a player section in transactions and then select the player, it will let you trade for him no matter the point of the season.

Interesting, I never knew that. Thanks. Maybe I’ll test that on a separate save slot.

I've not tried that but I know beyond the trade deadline by normal trading means you do get stopped unless they passed waivers.

I'll be darned that worked in 17. The one downside though is that if you search any player they can be added to the trade dialogue, however it looks like your team or any other player on the other team that isn't eligible for a trade won't show up on the trade screen. So I would still suggest passing players through trade waivers. I traded Stanton from the Marlins by searching on Stanton, then had LA trade a minor league closer. However, within the Dodger's trade screen, Kershaw, Puig, etc were not visible. After Sept 1 I did a search for Stanton and traded him back for the same player. Again , he wasn't passed through waivers (and shouldn't have been eligible being a playoff eligible player) but the trade went through. Again on the Marlins side Jose Fernandez who is a 98 was not visible as an option to trade. So after the TD you can pass players through waivers to trade or if you know you the minor leaguers are tradable use the search to just bypass waivers to trade a guy on the 40 man, or use this if a guy gets traded after the expanded rosters. Seems like you have a few options to keep playing.
