The first time I fired up a franchise this year I started a White Sox franchise and I had a huge game with Jose Abreu. After the game, I was in the menus checking stats around the league and that radio show came on. They were saying Abreu had 2 homers and 5 rbi and how we won and are sitting atop 1st place in the AL central. My jaw literally dropped. I sat there and listened as they discussed every game around the league and then at the end they had the little sportscenter type jingle. It took me back to my childhood where I would listen to sports radio and they would give updates on MLB games around the league late at night. God I love this game.

I can't say enough good things about The Show 18
I gotta be honest. The few previous years, the show got really stale for me. This year is on a whole new level. The lighting is incredible. The hitting is pretty much perfect out of the box on default legend for my skill set. The commentary even seems better. Yes, there are a few issues as far as some questionable fielding plays, bunts, pitchouts, and the dreaded CPU suicide squeezes. But I can look past all these seeing that I get such a quality baseball simulation experience this year. I love the little radio show they do in the franchise menu where they are giving you updates on games around the league. Just these little things makes the game so much more immersive and is a huge deal for me.

Re: I can't say enough good things about The Show 18
when I discovered there was no season mode I was deeply dissappointed, maybe even disgusted but after awhile I eventually came around and I cant say that I really have anything bad to say about 18. if I'm forced to, then I'd say I still dont care for Allegri's radio show.
as for the Pale Hose, I got a season in with them too and Abreu & Moncada are my favourite Windy City Daily Double since Dernier & Sandberg (I dont bat Moncada at leadoff but rather 2nd in front of Abreu).
My only regret is Jose's age. I do wish he was closer to Moncada but it is what it is. But what I really needed was a companion piece at pitcher to compliment James Shields. Gialito was coming along nicely but as I was doing a one & done, I'll have to wait & see how I fare next year in 19 when I run another White Sock season.OSFM23 - Building Better Baseball - OSFM23

Re: I can't say enough good things about The Show 18
I'm running with the White Sox right now as well. Abreu is having a monster slugging season, as is Castillo. Trayce Thompson is absolutely wrecking halfway through the year (.307 19HR 56 RBI .915 OBP). Honestly, Trayce is my favorite underrated guy. I picked him up in an earlier Athletics franchise and loved him.
But I'm debating on trading Abreu. Carson Fulmer was unhappy and the Yanks were offering up Justus Sheffield for him, that was a no-brainer. So far, the deal is working out for both teams. I acquired Luis Valbuena and Matt Shoemaker in a deal with the Angels so I have a 1B guy to replace Abreu if I trade him, and even better, he's on a one-year deal.
Per reality, the AL Central is absolute dog crap. The Indians lead the division with a 45-51 recordand I'm 3.5 games back on them about 6 days before the All-Star break.
My first franchise was with my favorite team, Atlanta. But I got halfway through the first year and was like "wait, this is way too easy". That's when I picked the Phillies to roll with, and I had an absolute blast with Philly.
Also, in my first ever game with the Braves, the AI did back-to-back-to-back suicide squeezes on me, I was literally laughing the whole timeComment

Re: I can't say enough good things about The Show 18
I played The Show 2008-16, then skipped 17, before jumping back in this year. This version is definately the best, on the field, of any version before it, at least for me. With only minor slider adjustments (except for base stealing), I've gotten a much more realistic, challenging, and true to life experience than I've ever before gotten from a sports title.Anyone who claims to be a fan of two teams in the same pro sport is actually a fan of none.Comment

Re: I can't say enough good things about The Show 18
I'm one game before the trade deadline in my Red Sox franchise (30 team control) and I try to keep the rosters as close to current as possible manually. I make all major trades, signings, DL guys who are out for season or on 60 day DL, etc throughout the season and any major call ups.
I'm going to have to hold off on playing now for a couple weeks so that I can manually make the deadline moves before continuing my season.
What I do is prior to each series, I get the opposing teams roster set pretty much to what it currently is, set walkup and reliever entry music and make any major changes needed to stances, windups, equipment, etc....it adds a lot to realism to the game. I'll probably kill the next couple weeks going team by team and updating players equipment, maybe boost some ratings for players who are performing way better than they are rated in game.
JD Martinez is having a monster year almost on par with real life .288 37 HR and 82 RBI
Mookie Betts started out awful and was hitting like .220 with maybe 5 HR around the 40 game mark before catching fire and he's now up around .258 with 23 HR
Jackie Bradley has been a surprise hitting .270 with 19 HR
Mitch Moreland is around .300 with 24 HR having a great season
Xander Bogaerts has been a major disappointment hitting .267 with just 3 HR
Sale and Price have been really good at the top of my rotation and Kimbrel has been lights out at closer
I'm currently 6 games up on the Blue Jays and Yankees and set for what should be an exciting stretch run
This years game has been excellent and I agree that the game has been a little stale the last couple years (but stale because the game is so good it didn't need major overhaul of anything)....The Show remains the bench mark for sports games year in and year out....I wish the devs for the NHL series would model their game after the way the Show is made year in and year out....strive for realism and an accurate representation of the sport instead of arcade type gimmicksComment

Re: I can't say enough good things about The Show 18
I recently picked up MLB 18 The Show and I’m impressed so far. I haven’t owned The Show since The Show 14 on the PS3. So 18 on PS4 is quite impressive to me.
I was worried because as a long time The Show fan I know that each year can bring about new bugs and such. But the game seems fine so far. No season mode kinda bugged me but I read online that franchise is the same thing, just more in-depth.Comment
