    Switched to Zone Hitting

So I've made the switch to zone hitting and I actually enjoy it a lot more than Pure Analog. Gappers and Home runs occur on a much more realistic level and are far more rewarding. I have good games and I have bad games.

But this just puzzled the crap out of me.

I'm batting with J.T. Realmuto and got a fastball nearly right down the middle. PCI is perfect on the ball. Pop fly and okay contact with good swing timing.

    What the ****??

Earlier Hosmer was well under one according to the feedback but replay showed he squared the thing up perfectly and launches a 3 run homer. Is feedback on Zone PCI just bugged or am I missing something??

I took a picture of the feedback on my phone, I'll reply with it if I can.

Interesting. Someone else talked about this recently too. I have never seen it, but im glad you got a screenshot. I have been screenshotting every Good/Good and Good/Okay batted ball and its result since that thread, and i have not seen it. Maybe there is more to it than i have seen.

I do know that with some hitters, the ball doesn't need to be squared up perfectly on feedback to hit a HR, if they have enough power to muscle it out.

I do not blame you or anyone else for being upset if the result of that is a pop-up. That must be what the other guy saw too. My first impressions are that I would not be happy either if that is what you're seeing.

Im not sure what to make of it.

I bumped up my solid hits and contact sliders by 2 each to default on solid hits and 9 on contact. I'll see if that helps.

It might just be a bug with the PCI/Feed back mechanic. Cause like I said earlier, feedback had Hosmer well under a high up and in fastball, but replay showed he squared the thing up perfectly. I wish I had screenshotted that one.

I dont always trust the replay on where the ball hit the bat, because it can be off a bit. There are many more frames in replay, right down to uber-super-duper slo-mo that just aren't in the live game, so replay has to fill in those gaps like using frog DNA in dinosaurs. So i wouldn't put too much stock in a replay as far as contact goes.

I am curious as to where that pop up from that screen shot ended up?

From the dirt line between first and second base. About 5-10 yards into right field.

Moving up solid hits and contact seems to work. Hits coincide more with PCI placement now.

                Re: Switched to Zone Hitting

I use Directional hitting because I never cared for the PCI thingy, even going back to the old ASB games that had it. I notice that the situations where I get good timing and only okay contact are the times where I've pushed the directional button the wrong way. Like trying to pull an outside pitch instead of going with it. Makes a big difference between good contact and poor contact.
