Re: Patch 1.13 out this morning
I don't know if this is true, but I can't see them being able to schedule a recording session at this stage of the MLB season unless it was during the All Star break. Likely, they looked through their recorded data archive and patched in some names they hadn't previously included.Comment

Re: Patch 1.13 out this morning
Hoping two other presentation issues were corrected:
1) There are times where the game flashes an overlay to show the starting pitcher comparison mid-way thru the game and instead of showing stats, it shows their bio.
2) As you get into your franchise the game will show an overlay for your minor league teams and someone who is playing well, but the stats and such are all jacked up and make no sense.
Cool. If someone hear something special let us know !Comment

Re: Patch 1.13 out this morning
However.....
1. You have to use the SCEA version of Gleyber (you can export him from SCEA's most recent roster update and import him into your rosters)
2. You HAVE to leave his First and Last Name Audio blank in the Edit Player screen, you can edit anything else but his name.
3. PA announcer will not say his name, but Matt Vasgersian will when he comes to bat.
#1 and #2 are important.
I would assume this would apply to all the other high profile rookies who made their debuts in 2018.Comment

Gleyber is in and I would assume so is Acuna.

I did one test AB for each and the PA announcer used the number, but Matt never referenced them. If I had done another at-bat, I may have heard it.
Still a bummer since I was hoping I could assign audio to the player I edited into Acuna into my franchise. I'm too deep to start over.Comment

I was worried that might be the case. Thanks for checking it out.

So when you carry over your franchise all stats accumulated by the '18 SCEA version of Acuna will be displayed correctly against the '19 in-game version of Acuna (the version that shipped with the game). Naturally, you will benefit from having his picture, storylines, added quirks, etc...
Basically it is a way of tying together an SCEA created player, with the version of that player that will ship with the game in future versions.
All of that trumps (unfortunately) your use case of not being able to import him into your franchise.Comment

Re: Patch 1.13 out this morning
Yeah, the longer explanation and reason it works the way I outlined is for carry over saves. The idea is if you start a franchise with Acuna (or Gleyber, or whoever) using the SCEA version, when you carry your franchise over to MLB The Show 19, the game will be smart enough to recognize that the Acuna that shipped with the game in '19 is the same player that was added to MLB 18 by SCEA.

I jotted down Acuna's attributes from the official roster and then edited him into my franchise. I understand in SCEA's view, my Acuna isn't the "real" Acuna, and I'm OK with that. That's why I was hoping they could patch in the audio of "Acuna" and I could just give my version his name. I don't care about storylines, but it would be nice to hear "at-bat, Ronald Acuna" instead of "number 13."
If Madden (and SCEA apparently) can do commentary updates during the season, I have to think it's possible to add names to the editor.
Ultimately though, I'd love for their to be a way to import players into existing franchises. Give me the option to overwrite an existing generated player with one from the latest roster. Then I'd have the "real" Acuna in my franchise. But, I imagine, that's easier said that done to program.Comment

Re: Patch 1.13 out this morning
Limitations aside, this is a pretty interesting step that I doubt many of us saw SDS taking based on past history - calling the commentary gang back down to San Diego. I agree that it was probably done during the all-star break - it's likely the only time they would have been free to do it.
The patch was only about 300 MB so I doubt it was a huge amount of audio recorded, but it's always good to hear things that are fresh and new.Comment
