    Pitchers Hit By Liners

Has anyone ever seen a pitcher get hurt from being hit by a liner? I never have in all my years of playing The Show and it's quite annoying because most times when a pitcher is hit by a liner he leaves the game with injury. I know because the last 2 games the Braves lost was because of losing their starter after only 2 innings because of getting hit by a liner.

Only when it hits them in the head do they leave. If they get hit in arm or leg they always stay in.

I don't think I've ever seen that either. It's always arm or leg and they always stay in.

Bad thing is, pitchers get hit so often on the mound, it's probably best they don't usually get taken out of the game. The fact that SDS knows this may be the reason they never get hurt. I would rather see them cut back on the ridiculous amout they are getting hit on the mound, and then maybe get injuries on that play to happen more realistically.

The pitcher not getting injured very often doesn't bother me that much but what really annoys me is how it often has no effect and they are able to field the ball for the out like nothing happened.

Yes I've seen them get injured when getting hit by a line drive. SDS has a threshold of hit speed that it must hit the pitcher at before they remove him from the game due to injury. Reason being is this is a legacy issue that they continually work on each year to correct/reduce and until they do, they don't want pitchers being taken out of the game every time they are hit by a batted ball.

Funny you mention this, I think I've seen the pitcher replaced once or twice since I switched over to PS3/4 in 2011.

My cousin had to replace his pitcher this past weekend when we were playing each other. Liner off the arm, player looked to be noticeably discomforted by being pegged by the liner. Sure enough, he was prompted to remove him.

Interesting. I wonder what that hit speed is? Just frustrating hit a rocket and to drill the pitcher, the ball lands right at his feet and I'm out.

I hit a pitcher in the face one time off a bounced ball back to him and he was removed for concussion like symptoms. Only other time I've seen a pitcher removed was when I hit a line drive back at the pitcher over 100+ mph and it hit him in the stomach.

Just had this happen to Miles Mikolas. He was hit by a line drive off the bat of Lorenzo and went down and didn't get up.

Good to know that is in the game. I have never had that happen. All I've ever seen is the little, hit in the foot or arm animation and they always recover and throw me out and stay in the game.

On YouTube, hit Share. There will be an option for Embed. That will give a code that you simply copy and paste into your post here. That's how i do it anyway.

I see it at least once every few games but I've never seen then taken out. Sometimes the ball bounces right to 3rd or SS and I'm thrown out. Sometimes the pitcher gathers it quickly and sometimes they just walk around the ball till the 3rs basemen grabs it and I'm safe. I dont mind it. But I wish every once and a while the pitcher has to come out.

Using the Reds and Homer Bailey was hit in the head with a line drive. He had to leave the game and spent 10 days on the DL due to a concussion.
