    Power, Contact, Normal swing

There's a thread about this in the DD forum that I resurfaced from May, but the discussion is a more general one in my opinion.

Given that the game has been out for 6 months, it would be good to see what current thinking and opinion is.

I use analog hitting. I only use a normal or contact swing, I've never used a power swing. I generally go with contact for a higher contact rating or in a situation where I'm behind in the count. I've hit plenty of homers off a contact swing. I use a normal swing in counts where I'm ahead but mostly if I'm hitting with somebody who has a high power rating.

I have no idea if the power rating or contact rating are tied to a particular swing though so it will be interesting to see what others think.

I use Zone hitting. I use “Normal” swing prob 99% of the time. Every now and then when I’m down 0-2 or 1-2 with more of a contact type guy or a pitcher I’ll use the “contact” swing. I don’t know why anyone would need to use the power swing because I hit a TON of HR.

I used to never, ever use power swing until this year. However, this year I’ve used it often with Schwarber, Bryant, Rizzo, Baez, and even Happ in hitters counts of 2-0 or 3-1. I have had a lot of success with it.

I only use normal swing. No matter the count or who is up...I always use normal swing.

I’ve found that I had better offensive success and more hit variety when I used the power swing up in the count with my power hitters.

I usually had always use normal swing...recently i went into a huge slump and went to contact swing whenever i had 2 strikes..great results with it and have hit a pretty good amount of homeruns using contact.

                Re: Power, Contact, Normal swing

Directional hitting. Early in the game I'm purely normal contact but by the 7th inning I go more by what my opinion of the situation dictates. And that doesnt always jibe with conventional wisdom. For example, say I'm down a run with less than 2 outs with runners on the corners. I've got a guy at the plate with no power to speak of but I really dont wanna take a chance at GIDPing so I want to sac fly, I will use power to get that fly out and hope its deep enough to tag.

There’s nothing like absolutely destroying a ball with a power swing by Schwarber or Rizzo. Love it.
