Why are Ratings Changing In Game

For example Billy Hamilton has 99 speed and stealing, but in game it drops to 97. Curious why. Is this some dynamic rating dealio? And yes, I'm using the Reds. It's not so bad. 8-5 to begin the season.

Happens to me with Trea Turner’s speed. I assume it’s a progression/durability or even potential thing. But like most things in franchise, I cant figure a rhyme or reason to it.

I believe it's based on a mixture of performance (Steal 5 bases in 3 games and your confidence will be higher, therefore I assume your rating goes up), progression (based on age and potential, so if you are 21 and A potential, your stats are probably going up any way. If you are 31 and potential D then they will naturally be going down), and durability (Billy Hamilton at age 35 won't have 99 speed).

I dont know any of that for sure, but that's just based on experience of playing the game for years.

The difference in ratings between roster screen and in game is tied to Morale.

Of the player is happy you'll have higher attributes in game than what out if game says, if they are unhappy it will be lower. That's why I trade off all my unhappy players.

What sliders are you using? What is the base speed set at? I always go with 4 and notice my runners speed are lower so I just assumed it was because of the base speed being 4.

It's an interesting question and not to take away from it, I'm wondering whether there's a noticeable difference during on-field gameplay to somebody with a 99 speed versus 97?

Also I think everyone ratings go down early in the season, then unless they're old it rebounds.

Energy does not show a ratings change. It affects them, but you wouldn't see it change ratings in an in-game menu.

Hamilton is currently Very Satisfied, or whatever level is the highest morale (Can't think of it right now)((blue smiley face)). So morale cannot be the reason.

He is fully rested, hired a new coach with "A" overall rating (with nothing referring to speed) and morale is at it's highest level.

Either way, not too concerned, just curious. And, since Red Dead 2 has come out, I've been pathetically immersed in that gem of a game (my fiancee will attest to that, haha). Literally 10 yrs old and can't put it down. Anyone else ever wake up and think "do I really need a job when I have a game to play?" Asking for a friend.
