New update has broken hitting once again

Just when I thought SDS had finally gotten it together after the train wreck that was MLB 17's hitting system, they go out do it again. This new update has turned to game into Groundout Simulator 2018. I even jacked up the sliders for contact and solid hits thinking this would offset it, nope, can't even buy a base hit. Seriously the pitchers could be tossing underhand and would still be throwing complete game shutouts left and right. Almost feels as though the devs are trying to punish people for playing correctly since good timing swings routinely turn into popups and weak grounders. Anybody found a way to fix this mess through sliders? Also, why was an update necessary this late into the game's lifespan? Or does SDS just pull this stuff now as some sick joke?

New update has broken hitting once again

My hitting didn’t change after this update. Same as it was before which i would expect since the patch only addressed a head to head freeze and a stealing exploit.

I play on default legend across the board except for pitch speed sliders maxed out

Be glad it hasn't been affected. I've been playing my franchise over the past couple days and EVERY game has been decided based on nothing but bloop singles and infield hits. Think I could count the number of extra base hits by both teams on one hand at this point. Not to mention swinging at anything with good timing is essentially a death sentence now.

Gotta be some other problem than the patch, my hitting performance hasn't changed but then, I play on dynamic difficulty.

Try uninstalling and reinstalling the game

I usually don’t respond to patch-hitting threads but I literally just finished a game where the pirates rallied against me with 4 straight bloop hits. I get that it happens, but 2 of the pitches were out of the strike zone and yet Luplow and Frazier blooped game tying and winning singles and doubles.

Offensively, my good timing was getting me nowhere. I also get that that happens as well. But I had to respond to this thread cause getting a notification for it in the middle of such a game felt fateful.

That's been me ever since the patch dropped. I've had better luck swinging at things on the corners and sometimes even out of the strike zone than things that were basically Home Run Derby pitches.

Tried that and so far the game still plays like garbage. I'm starting to think SDS enjoys making unnecessary changes that ruin the playability of their games. Starting to remind me of EA in a way, which is never a good thing. Either that or one of their developers is just really not good at their job.

I don't know why you're having issues with hitting, but I don't believe it was the patch. The only thing this latest patch addressed/changed was a freeze in head to head games and fixing a stealing exploit.

Can you post videos of what is happening? I'm recording the spring training game that I'm currently playing. I'll share it when I'm finished.

Here is the video of the Spring Training game I just completed against the Red Sox. I had a total of 6 hits. 2 homeruns and 2 doubles. Plus some hard hit outs.

For me, nothing has changed in hitting. It is the same as it was prior to the latest patch.

I haven't altered my sliders or difficulty settings at all over the past month. Literally nothing has changed. My team's batting average has plummeted in my franchise since the update. I even played my RTTS character and his BA has dropped by almost 35 points since the update despite the fact that my strikeout rate and walk rate are almost exactly what they were prior to this problem (24.5% and 10.3% respectively). It has to be the update, it's just super suspicious that this started happening immediately after it dropped. I've seen a few other forum posts of people having the same problem. I don't really have a way of recording videos so I'm not quite sure how to do that but just imagine that whenever you swing at a meatball with good timing that there's a 90% chance it ends in a popup or weak grounder to shortstop. I'm not even trying to exaggerate on that.

Well, there's your problem right there...

I keed. I gotta fire up this game again, but patches have been known to alter some gameplay things in the past. Had I not known a patch happened though, I would just chalk it up to a cold streak. If something is truly different however, there would have to be a reason that it is happening to you and not others. Franchise mode as well? Options you use?

Your batting average has plummeted from what average to what average? How many games?

You can double click the share button and the PS4 will record 10 minutes of video then you can upload here. Or if you have YouTube channel you can broadcast after getting setup

Have you had any of these issues with hitting prior to this patch?
