Create a Stadium?

Is this a feature we can ever expect to have in MLBTS? Other games have advanced creator tools that allow for creating of stadiums (2k for instance) and also ones that allow for user created content. What is the reasoning behind Sony not implementing this feature yet? It would go hand in hand with a relocation/expansion feature.

We should be able to edit everything from wall height and distance to bleacher color, and grass patterns. Hell iirc MVP had a stadium creator tool, all though theirs was very basic and generic and only let you set templates. But this is 2018 soon to be 2019, this should be in the game. Once more, enable us to share them. It would be crazy to see all the radical designs the community can come up with.

The only person/people who could answer your questions is SDS themselves.

This topic has been debated/discussed ad nauseam on the forums and only leads to speculation as to why it isn't done.

Someone can correct me if I am wrong, but I remember back in one of the dev streams before either The Show 17 or 18 was released that SDS said that the only way they could develop and implement a create a stadium feature is if that were the only thing they worked on between games.

In other words, no other updates, changes, new modes, etc. would be added to the new game if create a stadium were to be added. To me, this makes create a stadium highly unlikely to be added, since they want to keep making different changes and updates to all areas of the game. But you never know...

Hell they could make the entire thing online based, similar to NCAA's team builder feature.

To be honest they could easily work on this feature through 2 or 3 cycles before finalizing it and putting it into the game. That way they could work on other things while also working on a stadium creator as a side project over the course of a couple years before actually implanting it. To me that excuse is a cop out. Look at 2k, hell even the new PGA game has a course creator, they could implement it if they wanted to. If there's a will there's a way.

I remember hearing that and it just pisses me off and comes off as extremely lazy. We've seen other games add so much between cycles and yet The Show's franchise mode has been pretty much untouched since the move to PS4.

Anyone play with the create-a-team/expansion franchise mode on NHL 19? The amount of options for creating your team, arena, uniforms, mascots, celebrations. It's all downright mind blowing. I spent hours working on it because there's so many options to be had. Then the expansion team option in franchise mode is so well thought out and put together with the expansion draft prior to the entry draft.


Don't get me wrong, The Show is a tremendous game and the only game I buy at will every year, but I'm so sick of all the attention online modes like Diamond Dynasty gets at the expense of franchise mode. Not just The Show issue, but all sporting games. Downright ridiculous. I can't even afford a PS Plus subscription to play online and even if I did I doubt I'd play Diamond Dynasty because I enjoy franchise mode the most with real MLB teams.

for create a stadium, I'd settle for just making the outfield dimensions right, and the rest based on a cookie-cutter design for the rest. I realise that would probably mean no stands in the outfield but I'd take that in a heartbeat. after a few years of that, they could enlarge the scope to include foul territory.

for all we know, that could be exactly what they've been attempting but with fruitless results so far.

I’m not saying that alone means that create a stadium can’t/shouldn’t be done, just that if you’re going to bring up the fact that other games have done it then you also should note the fact that the SDS team is smaller than the others.

Money. Compared to some other leading sports video games, baseball is a relative niche market. Sales for Show 18 as of October 6th: 840,000
Show 17: 1.15 million
Show 16, PS4: 960,000 - PS3: 370,00
Madden 18, X-Box: 1.87 million
Madden 18 PS4: 2.59 million
Madden 17 X-Box: 2.44 million
Madden 17 PS4: 3.27 million
NBA 2K18 Nintendo Switch: 410,000
NBA 2K18 X-Box: 1.98 million
NBA 2K18 PS4: 3.29 million
EA's FIFA 18, PS4: 11.72 million. Yes, well over 11 million just on PS4!
EA's FIFA 18, X-Box: 3.11 million


Some of thes games I could have included other versions like xbox 360, ps3 & pc sales putting the Show further behind the 8-ball.
It's really quite amazing what SDS has done with the revenue they generate compared to other games. And now you can see why other baseball games have fallen to the wayside in recent years.
