Is it a waste to give guys proper contracts? For example, I would give a guy like Justus Sheffield a 7 year deal because he did not accumulate service time this year, but he likely does in 2019 and that would give him the 6 years of his rookie deal that they get before their first Free Agency. Someone a little further away like Wander Franco, I give a cheap, 9 year deal, because he probably doesn't come up for at least a couple years. In previous years, I would notice good solid minor league guys hitting free agency and it would piss me off. Like, why is Vlad Guerrero on the Royals now.

As much as I love The Show, the contract and entire salary cap situation is a mess. The way it affects budget and player morale is nothing but a headache. You’re better off not thinking about real life contracts and try to match their morale preference.
