    Franchise Pros/Cons

Hey guys and Happy New year.

I haven't played The Show in a few years but was planning on picking it up for 19. I'm a huge franchise type player, was wondering how good/bad the franchise mode has been. maybe a short list of opinions with Pros and Cons.

    Re: Franchise Pros/Cons

    Pros are:
    30 team control
    Injury Control
    Sim Options

    Cons are:
Budget/FA/Trade Logic - all need rework.
Limited trade options (no 3 way trades, no cash exchange, etc.)
    No expansion, relocation/rotating schedules, etc.

Franchise has been kinda ignored the past 2 years and the other sports games have kinda lapped the field on The Show.

A BIG con is the number of players who disappear when the new game comes out. When your franchise carries over dozens of players may disappear because SDS does not have that player in the game anymore. Created players don't disappear, but there can be many fringe players who do and it really impacts the immersion for me as I like to keep the rosters true to the team.

My biggest CON - 90 man rosters. My favorite PRO - carry-over saves. I'm sure I wouldnt even play multi-seasons without it.

Big PRO (for me) - the detail of the ballparks and the radio show, I listen after every day and it really pulls me into the living world of my franchise. I'd love to see them add to it but damn it's good.

            Pro's

            Good UI
Inside The Show (Very Valuable) Just needs more details. Says very little about selected team but details others! and new intro song

            Con's

*No in depth manager/management influence on teams (CPU)

*Fatigue has little performance/player intensity affect/Impact (CPU)

*Wish the backend settings were as detailed as NBA 2K MyLeague

*No season stat ticker similar to NBA 2K

*No equipment update or change system/frequency , NBA 2K sleeve example some times, all the time etc.

*Roster management based on performance and attributes. This was hyped the Twitch stream but I saw no impact. My Player locked CAP player out performed other CPU players in the lineup but remained 8th batter position that would only change due to another injured player! One side affect of no manager logic!

              Pro's-
There is a lot of customization options to allow you to play in different ways, edit players, fix the otherwise hugely flawed AI decisions.

Carryover saves are cool (although also a bit of a negative as they prevent them ever making genuinely significant changes)

AA/AAA teams. Sure they've been on here forever, but it's still a cool thing.

              Cons-
It's probably not significantly different to when you played it last, even if that was a decade ago

Without the fantastic community making minor leaguers, it would be genuinely pretty unplayable.

              Awful finance system

Far too many legacy issues from multiple years ago.

For a stats based sport, it does a pretty poor jvb of collecting your stats/records

Generally, it's a pretty bad mode that saves itself by being just customizable enough that the truly committed can find workarounds to make it all sort of work. It's hard work though

                PROS

*There are a lot of things you can edit for each player going as far as spray chart stuff or cleat colors.
*Stat-tracking has been upgraded a bit compared to 3-5 years ago (now includes The Show's version of WAR and much more than just HR/RBI/SB/ERA/W-L/K on the player cards)
*The graphics/colors/textures have received some attention in recent cycles.

                CONS

*There aren't many innovations on a yearly basis. Franchise mode is largely what it was 3-5 years ago.
*Some of the recent innovations aren't that solid or can be considered arcade-y (quirks, morale system)
*This game still doesn't come within 1,000 miles of OOTP in terms of team management, customization, and front office stuff.

                  Re: Franchise Pros/Cons

Thanks for all the replies everyone. If I get 19 then i wont get another version for a while and just play 19 multiple season so I guess my concern would be replay factor for each season, such as contracts, retired players stuff like that. anything that ruins stuff like that each year going forward.
