Stubs for payroll
Anyone ever paid stubs to increase payroll? Is it worthwhile?

yes, every season I sell off all cards I can to get as many stubs as I can for the entire season..."Baseball is life, without Baseball life itself ceases to exist." - Ken SpragueComment

Re: Stubs for payroll
Never. Whats the point? Feels like cheating. I play with the budget assigned and aim to do well so it increases. Also feels more interesting to work within restraints rather than sign everyone in the world.Comment

Re: Stubs for payroll
I can see the rationale, but there is literally no other use for stubs in franchise other than payroll. For franchise only players like myself, it’s a reward for good play and reaching goals.

Re: Stubs for payroll
I added 44 million to my payroll. It’s basically like real life I guess, investing money into ballclub. I did it because some of my main talent is gonna be up for long term contracts and I want to be able to afford the ones I truly want.

I use it, I like to pretend the Mets have owners that realize they’re not a small market teamComment

Re: Stubs for payroll
Its annoying we even have to use stubs for it. Im in year 7, and after free agency there are still numerous high to mid 80 overall players sitting in free agency the next spring training because nobody has money to sign these players.
So instead of the game allowing me to give more budget to CPU teams and having them sign those players, I have to use stubs to do so to keep my franchise alive. Its honestly stupid.Comment

I think a big part of the problem is the limited roster space (90 per team) and teams have difficulty, as do I, of balancing out their roster with stars, everyday players, role players, minor league journeymen, and prospects.
The rosters need to be expanded and when they are, more money needs to be added to each teams budget.I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

Like MLBLover, I don't think its solely due to the fact that teams can't afford these players. Sure there are some teams that are maxed out, but a vast majority would have the ability to sign one or two of these players.

Nope. Its budget. I've ran many tests on this. 7/8 years deep teams cash flows are negative 200k-300k leaving the best free agents out there still. It's been this way for years where the budget increases are not enough and teams dont have enough money to nab the top free agents.Comment

Re: Stubs for payroll
I'm 6 years into a carryover franchise save and there are a majority of teams that have the ability to sign free agents, but they don't. I know this because I can sign a free agent in the offseason and trade them to one of those teams for their lowest rated/paid player and they will accept.
I'm not saying that's not the case. But it usually does not happen until 7-9 seasons in. Over tested countless franchises. Teams give horrible long deals and then have no money for the top free agents.
It happened all the time to me and my buddies in online franchise as well. We had to manually do most of CPU contracts because of money issues.
But since hardly anyone gets that far I'm sure SDS does not see it as a problem. Which it has been for years.Comment
