Different ways to play through a season

1 - start a new test franchise with the sim fantasy draft method, and see how the cpu teams picked to see if they did the same overload of pitchers vs bench players

2 - get into the regular season and see how the cpu resolves those same roster issues / see if they add more bench depth

Ok, did some testing here. After simming the fantasy draft, my team actually had 4 guys on the bench. However, the cpu teams were a mixed bag. Some had 4 bench players, some had 1. I simmed a month into the season to see if they worked themselves out, and the teams that only had 1 or 2 bench players still only had 1 or 2. So, I then checked my franchise that I’m actually playing through (in year 2), and these roster issues are not present on any of the cpu teams.

So, I guess I never noticed this issue before because typically I do sim through the first year when I start a new franchise, just because I like to get one offseason in, get my first round of draft picks in, get a start on filling the holes on my roster from the fantasy draft sim, etc.

Thank you for testing it out. Maybe that will be the thing to do is sim the first season.

What I have found to be fun and keeps you involved and "trying" to get "your" stats is when I start the season I play the first game. If I win I continue to play until I lose. Once I lose, I quick manage the rest of the series and then start the process over with the next series on the schedule.

This way I feel like I've been a part of every series of the season. The only time it got a bit cumbersome is when I went on a twenty game winning streak a couple of years ago.

I usually get three seasons in before the next version comes out.

With this thread and one I started a couple of days ago, I am prepared to start a franchise with either Toronto or San Diego using OSFM rosters.

Do any of you sim the 1st season?

This past year I starting doing something different as well. My buddies and I would pick a player to use before the game and control their at-bats only. We would sim the pitching and sim the other hitters. Solo, I would just control my hitters and sim everything else. Occasionally, in late innings, I would take over the pitching. It really helped me complete more games and it’s a blast!

I usually switch up how I go through a season. Right now, on my Cardinals franchise, I pick one player to player lock each game. I basically just go down the lineup. Only downside is that you have to alter your lineups every 3 or 4 games to get the bench guys in as there is no fatigue when player locking thus the cpu wont alter the lineup before the game.
