PLEASE..PLEASE..PLEASE...PLEASE...LET'S NOT TURN THIS INTO A DISCUSSION AS TO WHY IT HASN'T BEEN DONE, WHY IT NEEDS TO BE DONE, I'M NOT BUYING UNTIL ITS DONE, OR ANYTHING ALONG THOSE LINES.

THIS THREAD WAS CREATED WITH THE INTENTION OF HAVING FUN AND SEEING WHAT FELLOW OS'ERS WOULD DO IF THIS FEATURE WAS IMPLEMENTED. THERE ARE PLENTY OF OTHER THREADS TO DISCUSS THE DECISION MAKING UP TO THIS POINT OF SDS ON THIS FEATURE

Ok with that out of the way.

I started a thread about Create a Stadium/Ballpark, so naturally I needed to start one about create a team/relocation/expansion.

I've never been a big proponent of this feature, but just like create a stadium/ballpark, my friend and I were discussing the other day, and I started thinking of ways I could/would enjoy this.

I don't think I would personally do anything in regards to expansion, as I like how things are now with 30 teams. But I would take advantage of relocation. And honestly, the only one that I would do is move someone to Montreal and bring back the Expos. Now who that team would be, I haven't decided, but I'm leaning towards the Rays, although that would mean the Expos would be an American League team and I don't know that I would like that. I've thought about the Marlins but I like having a team in Miami. I thought about the Nationals, but again I like having a team in Washington.

Other than that, I really wouldn't commit to another relocation.

So what about you? What teams would you create, what expansion would you do, or what relocation would you make happen if this feature ever came to fruition?

I'd love to do an expansion just for the expansion draft. It's such an exciting thing, I feel like it would be pretty impossible to really replicate in a game, but where teams have to decide who to protect and who to leave hanging out there, great stuff. So many players learn where they stand with a team when they realise they wouldn't really care if someone else just took their contract off their hands!

Expanding the league to 32 teams seems like an obvious no brainer tbh, with 4 divisions of 4 in each league. How that effects the playoffs, not sure as the wildcard game then makes a bad amount of teams. There are a lot of problems really with expansion as it would really involve a giant shakeup of how baseball works, unless you just bodge a 6th team in the AL Central and declare "who really cares, it's the ALC?"

I'd turn the Nationals back to the Expos. This is probably outside the scope of the thread but if we're going for a total customization feature I'd move Houston back to the NL and Milwaukee back to the AL and go back to four divisions, two wild cards per league and no interleague


Edit:Now that I think about it, no interleague wouldn't work with 30 teams unless I kept Milwaukee in the NL and the leagues were split 16/14 instead of 15/15

Bringing back the Expos is my dream scenario for franchise mode. Having the Rays relocate to Montreal and play in the AL East would be a boon for that team, getting to play a third of the home schedule each season against the Blue Jays, Red Sox and Yankees.

Of course I'd prefer to create a new ballpark, but given the likely limitations with development, I'd settle for including Olympic Stadium as a classic ballpark or even keeping Tropicana Field as the home field if I didn't feel comfortable in the generic stadiums currently offered.

If create-a-stadium actually happened, following through on the concepts being presented in Portland and reviving the Beavers brand from the city's long minor league history would be really fun.

Start off with moving the Nationals back to Montreal.

Then I would move the Rays out of Tropicana. Not sure if would keep them in Tampa or move them to another city, maybe have them replace the Nationals in Washington, if I do move them out of Tampa.

If we had division realignment capabilities as well w/ ability to add divisions I would make 2 expansion teams and 4 divisions with 16 teams in each league. Just not sure where I would put the expansion teams. But with expansion would like to be able to choose any city I want not just a few select cities to choose from.

Bringing back the old teams (the Expos, The Senators, etc). I'd love to be able to re-align a bit so that the Yankees, Mets, Sox, Phillies and probably Expos are all in the same division (seriously how is Dallas in the 'East'?). I'd do away with interleague play. If it were like NBA2K, I'd probably do an expansion then to get Montreal back in along with one other club to make 16 per league (in 2k I'm planning on bringing back the Super Sonics, like everyone else, and likely the Pittsburgh Pisces, if anyone cares). If we were given attendance stats, then as someone else mentioned, if a team were in a city not supporting then I'd be looking at relocation, then I'd tie in with MLB the Show CountryBoy Special Edition featuring Create-a-Stadium and go to town.

First thing I would do, create all of the specialty uniforms for MLB teams. As far as expansion, 2 of Charlotte, Nashville, Portland, and Montreal.

I think everyone on here wants this feature so that the Expos can be brought back lol. I just want the ability to run expansion drafts, build the league, build from the ground up. I love 2k's expansion feature, really start from scratch on building a franchise. It would be wild in baseball because of the minor league depth.

I also would want the ability for expansion to include a true custom logo creator like 2k as well, not the relocation garbage Madden has, with preset uniforms and nicknames only.

Think 1977-1992, no Marlins Rockies D'Backs or Rays.
If you could retract all the way back pre-1960's, the roster makers could not out a lot of great years and true pennant races with 2 8 team leagues with no divisions.

Yep, like others move Nationals back as the Montreal Expos again just as I moved Thunder back as Seattle Supersonics in 2k.

I was going to chime-in with the same thing. I'd LOVE to be able to retract to mimic the "good ole days".

Assuming this is part of the suite, I'd kick the Nats out and move them to Montreal where they belong, flip-flop Milwaukee/Houston between leagues (I STILL think of Houston as an NL team half the time), and give Tampa back their old moniker.

Expansion would be my go-to. The two new cities would be Las Vegas and Mexico City and I would re-align the divisions like so:

For Relocation, I'd move the A's out of Oakland and to a shiny new stadium in Portland. Then take the Rays and move them to Charlotte.

In terms of expansion, I would do the moves described above and then add two expansion teams in Louisville & Vegas.
