    Managing Minor League Teams/Players

Managing my minor league teams and players has always been kind of a struggle for me. I’m terrible at developing prospects and usually just use them for trades. What are some strategies you employ to make sure your best prospects develop? Any strategies for managing these players/teams?

First thing is I sportscast manage, or whatever it’s called, all my minor league games. That way I can “see” how players are playing not just view stats.

Second is that any drafted player doesn’t get pass Single A unless forced due to injuries. I leave them their to develop.

Third, I ensure to monitor their training. Every month I look at how they are doing training wise and I change it monthly. I focus solely on weaknesses while maintaining what I value at the position. Ex: catcher I prefer blocking, arm, and defense over anything bat related. CF I value speed and defense

Finally, I’m slow at advancing players. If a guy is tearing it up in AA, the chances of him going to AAA mid-season are slim and none. Again injuries force change to this mindset. I believe that pushing a guy thru the ranks is more negative than positive.

If you have any specific questions or anything please feel free to ask.

I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

You can manage the minor league games? I had no idea that was possible. How do you do it?

I used to pitch with my top young prospects while in the early years of the rebuild. However, after a while I missed the MLB games so I just simmed the first few seasons of my rebuild and waited for their debuts. I'm thinking of going back to the minors and making these guys progress on my own with legit sliders. It would get me through the snowmageddon and hopefully progress my Orioles rebuild.

I dont play Double A games anymore but back when I did, my young starting pitcher prospects, I would mostly just throw their 2 best pitches and rarely use their other pitches until they jumped to AAA
