Re: The Ps5 and the show
There was a completely different architecture between ps3 and ps4. Rumor is the architecture isn't changing just the hardware will be much more powerful.
In my opinion, from what I'm reading, it will just allow much more. Ps4 required completing redoing all stadiums and put dev team behind.

Re: The Ps5 and the show
I'd be very surprised if there was a leap, as they will almost certainly release the first, if not second ps5 version of the Show on the ps4 as well to maximise their audience, thus limiting the game.
Sports games usually have people getting excited about what the next generation will do, but I can't recall any game actually making a sudden leap. not to mention that the team that makes it probably won't get any bigger, so what they are "capable of" won't really change as their main limiting factor isn't the ps4, it's the lack of man hours to create the game.Comment

The Ps5 and the show
Doubt I am an early adopter. Years past....most sports games need 1-2 cycles before they find their footing on a new console.

Re: The Ps5 and the show
Dev kits for the PS5 are out and all of Sony's first party studios have started working with this new hardware. Do you think the show will take a huge leap next gen? Or smaller steps building to something greater year by year.

Lack of memory space on the PS4 has made it so Create-A-Stadium is virtually impossible to add in (at least to the capacity consumers want it). I also better uniform physics and a better representation of crowds would be first-year additions.
These are a few items that have not been included strictly due to the PS4's hardware.
As far as newer player models and things of that sort, I believe those would follow closely behind in year 2 or 3ish.Comment

Re: The Ps5 and the show
The PS3's CPU was strange but strong. Some game companies didn't know how to tap the potential.
The PS4 is basically a PC. I'm guessing the PS5 will be the same architecture as a PS4 but stronger.
They should have no issues coding for the PS5 right outta the gate. The first MLB The Show game for PS5 should be impressive. They should already have a basic cloth physics system waiting for the PS5. If they don't, they're not doin' it right.Do it. (Release The Show for PC)Comment

Re: The Ps5 and the show
I heard on a video on YouTube a long time ago when they were first talking about the consoles that we're going to be skipping into The uncanny valley which means photorealistic faces

Re: The Ps5 and the show
I’m always in awe of PYS’s pitching motions.
Whatever tech SDS uses for their uniforms is a memory hog (according to them anyway). I’m not a programmer by any means so I’ve always just kind of accepted their explanation as is. What this means going forward will be interesting. I’m hoping they rip this out and bring on next gen uniform tech (true reactionary cloth physics, customization, etc) rather than what they could do (shutter), which is a very subtle upgrade (what we got between PS3-PS4).
Hoping for the former, but only time will tell. As someone mentioned, it could take a dev cycle or two on the new platform to really see these differences come to life.Comment
