In the video the guy is hoping that this is all tied to trading and that a "Rebuilding" team will be more inclined to trade for prospects and get rid of veteran players with large contracts, but I have a feeling it will only be something of a splash page to make it, "easier for new players to play franchise mode!!".

I really hope it is integrated throughout franchise and has some sort of affect on trading and free agent signings, but I wont be holding my breath.

The 4 different groupings already exist on 18 (and every other version) they are just labelled differently (team expectations- win the WS, make the playoffs, break .500 etc). The different expectations have little to no noticeable impact on the teams trading/roster decisions currently. Hopefully they severely tweak that logic, but like you, I won't hold my breath.

They've been doing this for the last few years, marketing screen changes and display changes as new features. They change the splash screen and UI every single year and market it as a new feature, meanwhile it's the exact same thing with a different look. Why would this be any different?

Be interested to know how the projected wins is calculated and whether it’s a generic number based on the team name/player ratings or it hints at some more detailed use of savermetrics and putting WAR to use.

I'm actually excited at the possibility of elements of DD coming to franchise. As long as it's possible to completely ignore it and just play the game like it was played in 18, then I in fact encourage microtransaction elements to come to franchise.

I know that sounds awful, but guys, it means franchise will actually get attention.

It's really dependant on how the microtransactions are implemented. It could be a really bad thing, but it could also be a really good thing that could benefit even those who refuse to ever purchase a microtransaction.

If Micro transactions come into franchise I WILL NOT be buying the game, they are ruining games... could you imagine?? pay now or grind for hours and hours of game time to get XPT or you can just pay real money.

stay away from any sports games micro transactions. should be made ILLEGAL and only legal for free to play games. if you wanna throw in pay to win EA style that is one way to really make angry fans

I think the fact that more than one person is clamoring for microtransactions is just a sign of desperation. But, I'd prefer not to pay for anything beyond the initial cost of the game.

I wouldn't say clamoring for microtransactions, more so clamoring for improvements to franchise and willing to accept "certain" microtransactions if improvements to franchise come with it. If they start putting rosters and sliders behind paywalls, that's a joke. I was more so talking about things like build a stadium or relocation.

that stuff shouldnt be behind a paywall either. only free to play games are games that should have micro transactions. there is a reason sports games are in a massive decline right now, not ONE sports game is at it's high right now even the show has been on the decline because of this the last few years.

ignore the stupid IGN reviews about madden giving it 8 out of 10 every year. it's the same game with recycled features. I don't use season mode, but taken that out is the start of the EA way of gaming.

If they are introducing difficulty to franchise mode they need to explain which is normal/neutral instead of just providing a list to choose from.

I agree. I'd prefer no microtransactions but if that's what it takes for relocation I'd probably do it.

Yeah I will definitely reconsider buying this game if franchise mode is overlooked, linked to DD, or contains stupid micro-transactions.

Franchise mode can be great again. Just build a wall.

It really can be a lot better than you imagine.

Here's a way that DD can invade franchise that has nothing but a positive effect:

Let's say the draft class for a given year is produced the same way it's always produced. No different than 18. However, if you spend DD card, it will produce a player in the draft class who will mimic that players career.

All of a sudden you've got many franchise players interested in keeping (and even buying) DD cards. Demand goes up, SDS makes more money, and franchise isn't negatively impacted in any way.

There are good ways to implement microtransations. It just takes careful, creative thought, which a lot of video game devs/producers are unwilling to do.
