    Pitcher Positions

I feel there should only be two positions of pitchers in the game. SP and RP. We don't need a designated position for closer.

Similar to what they did with your batting lineup, certain positions represented 'STARS' and this basically only affected morale. You could setup something similar for the bullpen where some pitchers expect to be the closer or in a setup position and morale is affected if they are not in their desired roles. This can all be done without the use of the CP position.

I think the logic should state that the best RP on the team is the default closer for the AI. IF he is injured then the 2nd best takes over. In the event of ineffectiveness his rating and confidence should drop. Paving the way for another pitcher to overtake him as the closer.

I completely agree, maybe even use the Clutch attribute as a big factor for who closes.
Closers change all the time but in the game, a Closer will be replaced with another Closer even if that Closer is a minor leaguer who isn't ready or effective. All while deserving RP are overlooked because of in-game logic/coding.

Actually the CPU this year will use a relief pitcher in the closer role

        Re: Pitcher Positions

I completely agree but the simple fact it is there for the all star voting, so the game knows who should be pitching in the 9th.

it's a issue because the CPU is dumb and will always put the Closer to pitch the 9th even if they are gassed and pitching 7 straight days. I have to use the old move the controller over and make the change myself or I know i will come back and win because of the dumb A1

I guess we can all change the CP to be RP but I am guessing the game will whinge that we at least need 1 active CP on the roster?

yeah but you gotta put them in the depth chart closer role, I think even if you do that the CPU will still overlook the CP position and use that as a priority

I think we could all change them to RP and that would solve half the problem. not sure how the all star voting will go then you might get some wacky results happen

Actually you don't. The CPU will assign who they want to be the closer, place them in that role and then they will be the closer. And it will/can change over the course of a season.

It doesn't overlook it and choose the CP position to be the designated closer.

yeah, the closer designation isnt necessary, I mean, you dont need some relievers labelled ''setup'' or ''long relief'' or ''middle man''.

                    Re: Pitcher Positions

I think the all-star issue is easy to solve - really the all star teams only have to have 1 closer.

Use similar logic to how they determine the Relief Pitcher Award at the end of the season and the top closer wins the all star voting for the closer role.

The rest of the RP's are voted in using the current logic, if other 'closers' are voted in because they have good numbers then so be it.
