    Crazy Offseasons

I just finished my offseason in my chise, and it was a wild one, as Bryce went to Boston, and Machado signed with Detroit.

The Yankees went and signed Altuve, Goldy, and Quintana.

What are some crazy signings/ offseason moves that you have seen?

I can't remember which show it was. But it was the year Before Cano became a free agent and signed with the Mariners. But almost 99% of the time the A's signed him and at least one more of the top 5 free agents. Would never happen in real life

      Was this with budgets off?

I play with budgets off in my franchises, and have actually seen more realistic contracts than if they were on.

Interesting.....I may have to try that. But I always like the challenge of having to build a team on a budget. Especially when I embark on a rebuild franchise.

Budgets on. But like armor said I like to challenge myself by playing within the construct of my teams budget. Even if it does allow the computer to cheat he system a bit

I had a franchise going before the Puig and Kemp trade and the Dodgers signed Machado, Harper, re-signed Turner and one more stud OF I can't remember. They had Turner at 3B, Machado and Seager at SS and I think they signed 2 second basemen too. The OF was like 6 guys and all of them were studs.

I play without budgets on now and 30 team control. I will make Free Agent offers to the top names with 2 legit teams and one wild card. The money and years are usually exactly the same to make it fair. I don't use budgets because of the trade factors that emerge but I stay within limits for each team.

Budgets off is the way to go. I'm in year 1 Franchise off-season.

I used OSFM Hybrid Roster to start. I did everyones contracts at 80% So if someone had a 100 million dollar contract it would be for 80 million.

This way team budgets were more in line to real life budgets and upcoming free agency.

Anyway just did some signings and Padres offer for Manny for 5 years was 155 million from the get go.

AJ Pollack wanted 120 million if i remember correctly. But controlling 30 teams I had him offered 4 years for 85 million by both Dodgers and Twins and he signed with the Twins

Also with budgets off, I created a salary budget index for all 30 teams and try to keep within 5 million of that cap for the team.

So Rays have a cap of 85 million. I can go as high as 90 million and as low as 80 million for that given year

How does the index adjust per year?

I set luxury tax for $175 year 1 and $180 for year 2

                  IRL it goes $195, 197, 205, 207, 209

I think the highest team is the Brewers with $173 million budget right now as they're going for it this year
