Mlb 19 the Show: Database of voice files for first and last names

In MLB 17 the Show one of the legends was Cy Young. I recall the announcer using his name. Thus I was very surprised that "Cy" or "Sy" do not appear in the list of first name voice files. In MLB 18 the Show I believe the announcer referred to a player last name of "Brothers" or "Brouthers", though this last name does not appear in the database of last names available for editing players.

My question is this: Does anyone know whether the database of voice files for first and last names is growing or is there a maximum file size requiring that some names be deleted to make room for others.

Also assuming there is no limit, why would SDS not add all that there are created sound files for.

I for one hope that the list is growing. I agree that every pronunciation should be available to add to a created player.

Maybe it's too much to create, but I'd love a phonetic option for the more unique names.

You mean like how it lists "Cofaxx" in the RTTS name list for what is clearly supposed to be Sandy Koufax? It's even pronounced the same. That HAD to be intentional.

I know Sandy Koufax is a very private man, but I didn't think he'd make SDS afraid of lawsuits for using his name...

Imagine if we got stuck with the weird names shown here.

Question: a while ago I thought folks were indicating one of the Gb hogs was audio files, so when the Show has "Cy" or "Sy" in the database and Matt V says the exact same audio:
          1. Is the concern about disc space and audio file size a real thing that could limit what is included (yes some of us still use disc) and
          B. would such entries be 2 files and 2 entries, or two ways of spelling the name but both open the same audio file?

If disc space/game size is impacted by audio, and they have 3 files for Jon, Jhon, John, that would be 'silly'. Hopefully I'm wrong (as I usually am).

I'd just settle for having my last name pronounced correctly in the game LOL. There's one that's close at least.

It's growing as he's saying names of irl players like Benintendi now. Now WHY we can't name a player Hideo Benintendi and have the name said, idk. The game can say "Benintendi", why can't we pick it?

I think it will continue to grow as rookies and such arrive. When we can actually use the names for fictionals...

Ron Cey's last name they mess up half the time. They pronounced it like see and say
Say is the correct way to pronounce it.

Also Moose Skowron "Skow" should sound like cow

I offered Cofaxx when they were taking names.

it looks like they finally got Thames right this year. only took them a few years.

Just on this, they need a better way of audio for players that don't have names in the database so we don't have 'number 7' be more generic like. 'the first baseman comes up to bat' at least that is something that is possible that the commentary might say a commentator will never say 'number 99' comes up to bat

This will be the second year that Cy Young will be in the game. (He was also in MLB 17). So is there any reason not to include Cy in the first name voice database?

The thing is that "real players" that are already in the game, don't have "First Name" and "Last Name" audio, they simply have "Name".

So "Cy Young" is one name, so is "Aaron Judge", or "Mike Trout". So just because a real player has that first and last name, it doesn't mean that they will have the audio for each piece individually.

What I have always been upset about, in relation to this topic, is that they have nonsense like "His Dudeness" or whatever, but they do not have the Top 100 prospects or the Top 50 Japanese players accounted for in their CAP name database.

I remember when Judge came up in 2016, I had to use last name audio as "Judd". Despite the fact he was well within the Top 50 prospects and there was a possibility he'd be called up that season.

They need to pay more attention to the MLB "pipeline" and make sure those names can be created.

I agree, and it would be good to include the first and last names of all players in the Hall of Fame. They would only need to add the names that are missing.

As for having Cy Young as a single voice file, I imagine it would not be much work to split it into two voice files.

He's still called Judd in my franchise. Sometimes I pretend he's a distant relation to Ashley.
