I read the comments here and expected that to be worse than it was. So they basically added a full team story mode with branching storylines? It’s an interesting idea at least. Def aimed at people who Sim a lot of their season so they can actually get through it id imagine. I’m curious how long the actual mode takes. Like on average how many full games are in there.

I kind of like the idea if it was just game by game. Like advancing you to critical games. But I’m not a super fan of the player lock stuff and even less of a fan of the GM stuff that’s out of your control. But that’s just me and I can see how some people would enjoy just going for the ride.

That being said I can def see this mode not lasting more than this year. Franchise guys aren’t gonna play it and obviously are gonna rage over it. And DD guys aren’t gonna play it unless it goes quick and there’s some kind of mega reward at the end. So who does that leave? I’m sure there’s some who will play but I don’t think enough.

I was looking thru the list of MLB hosts and nobody equals the * count exactly. The closest is Heidi Watney?

Not surprised. I actually think I mentioned in the other thread that i thought that those thinking it was the return of a regular season mode were building themselves up for a letdown.

If I buy the game I will at least give the mode a try as the Cardinals.

Terrible! The same as critical moments..... Wish they can just cater to all groups but those days are over. At least the gameplay had some nice additions.

It’s just the Moments mode in a season mode.

I would assume their data shows a lot of franchise players start but never finish a season so they probably think this will help.

I’ll stick with franchise mode though.

I think this mode will have a use amongst the community. It seems to be a mixture of DD, RTTS, and Season mode mashed into one game mode. While its certainly not my cup of tea, I can definitely see where there would be a user base for it.

I am curious to see the stream about it and learn more details. I'm thinking its a single season, but in the video, its mentioned that you take your team thru the postseason and beyond, so I'm wondering if it continues on past one season. Also, how much GM duties are involved in this mode?

Now, while I think there is a place and user base for this mode, its highly disappointing that this was the response to the Season mode player that lost their favorite game mode last year, especially given the matter in which it happened. I would've bet that after the backlash received after SeasonGate, that the original season mode would've been added back to the game modes.

Unless they have made an option in franchise mode to play less than 162 games, then season mode players are once again getting the short end of the stick, and if March to October is their consolation prize, then that is a shame and extremely disappointing.

Feels like they were really pleased with all the effort they put into Critical Moments, but then were unhappy that not enough people used it, so they've just made an entire mode out of it. Replacing Seasons Mode with Critical Moments Season Mode is a huge fail in my opinion and not something I think anyone has been calling for.

Not my cup of tea at all.

Makes my hopes of any substantial franchise mode improvements almost nill.

I assumed a sideline reporter because twitter partners talking about things. Honestly that doesn't do much for me if the core of the mode still has legacy bugs from the past 10 years.

Extensions do NOTHING for me. 95% of extensions that happen in real baseball already occur in the show during arbitration and renewable time.

Well, this is different....I love the idea of a branching storyline concept - something all franchise modes out there really suck at is story-telling. Plus, full franchise modes can be quite daunting for a lot of people due to their sheer depth (which is likely why they are failing to gain traction with newer players - they are just way too bogged-down). This might be a fun stepping-stone for a lot of folks and may allow for a re-growth of the audience for the franchise mode down the road.

I have a hunch though that this mode is going to be a bit TOO abbreviated for my personal tastes, but I am definitely going to try it out and see if I enjoy it or not. If SDS spent time putting this together, then it would be silly not to take advantage of it. One idea that intrigues me, IF the mode allows for the use to load a custom roster, is running a historical roster through the mode (I just don't have the time to run multiple franchises and play-out 162 games in each one).

I really give SDS credit for trying to do something different here and not just re-hashing the old season mode as something "new" (which is the type of onerous thing EA would do). I'm curious to see the reactions from the masses on Thursday's stream and whether or not it resonates with them. Of course, the more stodgy/stubborn "I only play franchise" types will dismiss it out-of-hand like they usually do. But the important "tell" is how the "general audience" reacts - I'm hoping that this succeeds and draws more people back towards the offline modes.

I love that they are trying to add more fun back into the game and between this mode and Moments, I think they've added a lot of additional value for offline gamers this year.

I didn't even think of this, but if you can use custom rosters then I may actually play this mode.

I've always wanted to play through a historical season, but never wanted to start a second franchise because of the time that is consumed by that mode.
