There isn't a minor league players association the way there is a MLBPA which is why they can't be negotiated with universally.

If there were, they certainly wouldn't be treated as crappily as they are in the minors.


(Before questioned, I know they had some in MVP. I don't know the actual answer, but keep in mind, that was before the lawsuits with NCAA happened and there wasn't as much fear of litigation. My guess is they just went out and picked top prospects to create and weren't worried about any repercussions.)

OOTP has them now though. Idk how they do it with having the completely full minor league system. I highly doubt they went out and negotiated with all like 3000 players separately.

That's a good point, I wouldn't be surprised. But I could have swore there was a minor league union symbol next to the MLBPA one in the start up screen (I could be wrong on this it's been 13 years), but was maybe at least triple A unioned maybe back then?

Seems like they had a guy come in on a Sunday to work on the game so we could resign players during the season and had a intern give players real salaries something we could do ourselves if we wanted to ..and said franchise mode is done.......they don’t even take pride in there work over there at SDS

Whether your speculating is accurate or not, I think you made your point pretty clear without that last part. I don't think that had to be said for any reason whatsoever.

Now as for me, I'm going to start looking on the bright side of this, anyway: the more microtransactions or whatever people purchase, the more they can staff for their game, the more hope for franchise down the road in the PS5 iterations.

Which is literally what he tells people to do multiple times in that video if they don't like what SDS is selling this year (including shortly after where I said the franchise future stuff cuts off). The guy in "The Show" shirt, as you seem to emphasize, is saying he didn't like that only real contracts and extensions were added to franchise in '19, and he's saying to not buy it if you don't like what's in it. I don't agree that that's a "throwaway line", and I'm not sure why you think that.

And to be honest, it doesn't really matter anyway because I don't intend for this to be a critique on Mills himself as it will just derail the thread. I've decided to delete the embed and would appreciate it if you and rebel would do the same (though I can't force you).

I think we are discussing the game. This whole thread is a conversation about the game. What it has in it. What it doesn't. What it should. What it shouldn't. How it falls short of or exceeds our expectations. What people like about it. What people don't. People trying to convince other people of this or that. The whole nine yards.

No you would have to go thru ‘19

You don’t have to play a season in ‘19 just borrow a copy to transfer the file to ‘19 then upload into ‘20

I did this going from ‘16 to ‘18

Thank you. I think to each person who posts here, this game is their baby. Of course they want things in/out of the game to meet their personal wants (mine has to do with face creation), but it's all good as long as we realize the passion that's in us about our game of baseball. Our ONLY game of baseball that we have.

Again disappointed with the limited changes/improvements to franchise mode. I'll be holding off this year with a purchase and sticking with OOTP 20 for my franchise/baseball fix (which btw blows MLB The Show out of the water in terms of depth and options). Hoping they do something next year with this mode, but I have feeling they will disappoint us again. Also we need MVP and MLB 2K to make a comeback dammit!!

OOTP doesn’t use player likenesses since it is text based. They can use names just like fantasy baseball leagues can without paying for usage rights.
