SDS Answers Some Questions About March to October

    Hey guys,

Just wanted to shed some answers on questions that were presented about March to October following last night's stream. These answers are from San Diego Studios directly.

    - One *successful* March to October campaign should take 15-20 hours of gameplay.

    - Users will be able to earn the highest possible reward in March to October by winning the World Series with any team on HALL OF FAME difficulty or higher, not legend.

    - Winning the world series with a Longshot will obviously be more difficult than with a Favorite. Because of this, rewards will be adaptive based on that. This could include supplemental stubs or packs or other things in addition to the 6 cards presented as examples.

    - All card rewards available in March to October will also be available to earn in other ways in other modes, not necessarily just through marketplace purchase.

    - You can progress Diamond Dynasty Moments and/or Programs by playing March to October. For example, doing the Mariners March to October would progress specific Mariners programs or Moments in Diamond Dynasty.

    - You can earn several rewards in March to October WITHOUT winning the World Series

Are there any episodes where you play a full game other than a game 7 in the postseason?

I was hoping that I could a play through faster than 15-20 hours. For some reason, I figured it would be a 5-6 hour process. At 15-20hours, I might play it one time through. For some reason I thought I had heard you could do it in one to two sessions? I guess they meant longer sessions.

I had heard Mto was going to be involved in the DD Team Epics, and this seems to confirm that. I hope they aren't necessary though (with more than 100% worth of options to pick and chose from for each program like with the moment programs they've shown so far) as completing Mto with each different team, presumably even on higher difficulties, sounds like an incredibly arduous grind if each one is 20 hours long.

Can we at least save part way through and go back if needed? As otherwise I can only imagine how annoying it would be to lose the WS on HoF and then essentially count as failing, needing to redo 20 hours of hard work.

Correct Ramone did say that...1-2 ten hour sessions, which is about a normal day for us franchise guys trying to get thru a full season with two teams...lol.

I'm happy to hear 15-20 hours to play through. That might be a few weeks of gaming for me these days. But it's also short enough that if the mode is engaging, you could do it in a few days. We'll see!

Lol, yeah the timeframe seems to be good for some and not for other. I was hoping to take the cardinals through MtO, but I am not sure that I want to be away from Franchise or DD for that long.

I love seeing guys who just were complaining about SDS speeding the game up and making too many shortcuts complaining about MTO now being too arduous of a grind because it's 15-20 hours to complete a season.

Games are most fun when winning and losing means something. You want to get rewarded, regardless of how well you perform?

And no, there is no way they will let you save and repeat to win rewards for the same reason there won't be custom rosters and sliders. Everyone competes on the same field, and their scores are judged against each other on leaderboards full of people that played under the same conditions.

I think what was meant by that 15-20 hours being too long comment is that this mode is not going to be many people's primary mode in the game. But for people who just want to dabble briefly (maybe while taking a break from franchise/DD/RTTS), the draw would be to get through an entire team's "narrative" in a sitting (a few hours) and then move on and do another team. And another. And another. So the time commitment being alluded to here is really when factoring in you're multiplying the single play-through time by 30, and also in the context that this isn't going to be your primary mode anyway. That was my takeaway rather than people that were complaining about too short are now complaining about too long. If it's going to take 15-20 hours per team, then less people might see this mode as a quick hit or a break from the longer gameplay mission they're on.

For people that plan on playing this mode primarily, then 15-20 hours seems like a perfectly reasonable amount of time for a play-through.

I don't mind it being like that as a standalone mode, just like how I don't mind it being 15-20 hours as a standalone mode, it's the integration with DD that makes those things a concern.

Because if the Team Epic for each team requires winning the WS in Mto, maybe even on a higher difficulty, that turns it into an incredibly long pass/fail mission. A 20 hour long pass/fail mission for each team epic is pretty brutal, especially if you fail and have to redo it all!

That's why I was curious as to whether completing Mto will be necessary for each teams team epic in DD, as if it is then that's like 600 hours, even if you never fail. I'm hoping it more just counts as an optional extra, in the way last year you could use certain programs as optional extra % boosts for immortal programs.

If it helps progress team epics, I hope it’s not solely dependent on winning the WS. Maybe it will count at bats or innings pitched while playing MTO if that’s a requirement again this year. It still wouldn’t be too bad if you had to complete a season as part of the team epic if you didn’t have to win the WS.

That would still be a pretty epic grind considering it's not actually in DD or using your DD team. I'm hoping it's like an optional 50% or something, so if you complete Mto then you can avoid doing the innings grind from last year (for example). So it's not at all compulsory, but if you have done it then it's a nice boost

I wonder if we can only use the default rosters?
                            Custom rosters?

I actually liken this mode to the retro mode, which I never have played and never will play. This mode appears to be a fun mode that is a side mode to your main playing mode. In my case, franchise. I think the 15-20 hrs is fine. But even with this mode, since it is like a season mode, I would prefer it actually be longer as long as you can save it. I also play RTTS casually because I can save it. If I get back to it great, if not, no big deal. I might try this mode, but like many others have said, with its current limitations, it probably won't get more than 10-15 hours play from me. Plus, I just don't like simming that many games. I thought I would like the current moments (I forget the name) mode within franchise (I do play it for the minor league teams) but I prefer to play the full game instead of random moments. That said, if storylines in this mode can be incorporated into franchise in the future, it is a win win.
