Re: Are we nearing the end of MLB The Show?
Not for me. Still hoping to get it on the 26th. I’m an offline player though I usually spend my time working on the rosters than playing lol. It’s becoming a hobby of mine. I enjoy it. But I still do play games here and there, some RTTS if I need a break. Lots of quick franchise sims to test the rosters.
I lost my love of the NHL series cause this game took over. Last 3 years I barely touched my NHL games. Skipped one year.
Excited for this game. Updated Miami and Cleveland uniforms along with some small stuff here and there, faces, players, etc etc. Those are just enough for me to grab it.

Re: Are we nearing the end of MLB The Show?
I think they might loose the hardcore fans, but not necessarily the game. I am, like you, a franchise player only. And the lack of any real effort from their part for that mode, is daunting.
They seem to fear a game like RBI Baseball toward casual gamer. But they forget how the game became popular in the first place. They better hope the only competitor doesn't decide to be more serious with their franchise mode and the game realism.
For me, the only way it could end, is if EA or 2K decide to come back to into the dance. I still feel that probability is very low. But I would watch EA...they kind of hoping to return.Comment

Re: Are we nearing the end of MLB The Show?
as a casual baseball fan and off-line franchise gamer, I can see the title plateauing among-st casual fans.
the subtle changes in game play does not warrant a yearly purchase for casuals.
the ball physics the way it comes off the bat etc are great, but most casual gamers will not be looking for this or be wowed by this.
In addition with the real life issues with pace of play and interest in baseball, will probably lead to a slow down in game sales as well.
But the biggest issue for me, which I mentioned in the past, is the game's ambiance and intentional lazy sunday afternoon baseball feel and approach. just deosnt work, when there are so many other things to do.
presentation and commentary needs to be infused with more energy. They should take a look at 2k for this. MLB2k12, when it comes to presentation is still livelier than the most recent releases of The Show.
with that said, not sure if I will get this title, if I do it will be around mid July, early August. havent seen enough to say "oh I have to get this"Last edited by tril; 03-17-2019, 10:49 AM.Comment

Re: Are we nearing the end of MLB The Show?
Me personally I'm not playing it much not because I'm not interested. Life events. I have to find a balance. Love the show. There's no true MLB gameplay competition. I'll still buy this year, but just a standard version copy.

I’d like more details on this OSFM not being done until mid summer thing? That’s a postponement on purchase for me if true

Here's a thread discussing CRP which is a roster project being done by the OS community due to the potential delay of the OSFM roster.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

You can go look through all of Mills twitch streams and find it. I don’t remember the exact days he’s talked about. But all of his VODs are on Twitch. So if you want to find it be my guest, I don’t care enough to go digging through a years worth of Twitch stream to find a 30 second clip.

Just one of several reasons this might be the dumbest thread on OS.Comment
