    Dolphins88,

It depends on your style of play! For me I player using Player Lock. Which was shown very little love. Even with the highly touted defensive improvements.

To be blunt. If you have been playing the series for a while in my opinion its not a huge leap. If you are new to MLB The Show 19 then it's great place to start.

Most noticeable take aways is the crowd sounds better and reacts nicer (Should have been like this in 17 & 18. The new action cameras are nice. But don't cross over to Player Lock mode.

Some new animations 1300 according to their initial trailer. But yet still the same base running animations for many years. I can't believe no one looked at this for so long oh well.

My second biggest detail gripe beside base running, logic and animations is that there are still no high fives for the small things that happen in BaseBall outside of the Home Run. I would take two high five cut scenes at this point LOL!

Depending on how you play I would stay with MLB 18 and wait for the price drop of MLB 19.

Same here brother. It's so bad at Minute Maid and Yankee stadium. It makes hitting a nightmare in those stadiums unless you use certain camera angles to hit from. Needs fixed ASAP!!!!! Was not like this last year!!

In my second game today I walked 10 batters, including 5 by one reliever in one inning. Never had that happen in any version before. Classic pitching, default sliders.
However, the stat overlay was very wrong. In the 5 walk inning it said my pitcher threw only 2 balls to 26 strikes.

Loving the gameplay so far but why does Felipe Vazquez look like a Dave Chapelle character? Seriously his scan last year was perfect.

So I'm hoping I don't experience any framerate issues with '19 that some of you are seeing. I play on a Pro, with a real nice 4K TV. I'll post again when I get home and get to play a few games.

For those experiencing framerate issues, can you describe examples of gameplay and/or ballparks that you're seeing the problem? I'll try to dive into the same scenarios and report my experience.

Glad to read a lot of positive reaction re:the gameplay. For me, that's the most important thing. Little improvement to franchise definitely stinks for us franchise-heavy players...but as long as the game plays smooth and great that's what I hope for the most.

The Show '19 releases, and 2 days later we have real baseball back as well. Awesome time! Can't wait to be at the G Spot on 4/4, watching Eloy smash some baseballs.
The Show has had awful frame rate dips ever since they added that PBR effect in 16. You'll find when it comes to frame frate fluctuations, that a large amount of people don't even notice it, which is why they say it's not happening to them.

              Base PS4 btw.

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

Only a small sample size, but I have played two sessions, in broadcast presentation, each three innings. First was Dodgers vs. Red Sox in Boston, and second was Cardinals vs. Astros at MMP. Running on a PS4 Pro and a Sony Bravia 4k HDR TV and NO choppy issues at all...none, and that is at the highest HDR level. Smooth

As to the game itself, I am very happy. I think the sound is better, especially with the fans and the stadium sounds. I really like the new camera views, a lot! Again, no choppiness here either. Like other folks have said, when the ball is hit, it just feels better. Everything just seems more polished. Nothing ground breaking here, but I don't see that as a bad thing. I loved The Show 18, and 19 seems more and more polished all around...the player movement, the menus, the sound as I mentioned already...all just better.

I still need to dig into franchise mode and see how that feels for me, but so far, over all, I am very happy and will be playing A LOT of The Show 19, more so than 18, and I was playing that up until last week

I have been playing '16 the last month and there was noticeable slowdown generally isolated to between pitches. Having played '19 since Friday on balanced, everything feels smoother overall and I haven't had any noticeable slowdown during gameplay or between pitches.

'16 has noticeable frame dips on my PS4 pro mostly between pitches, so I can notice when it happens. '19 feels smoother all around on my pro with no noticeable slowdowns with the balanced graphics setting. No idea if the framerate I'm getting is perfect 60 but it sure as hell isn't fluctuating much or below 50. The people on here saying hyperbole like it's garbage, either have bad luck or are full of crap.

I played 1 exhibition game. White Sox (me) at the Royals (CPU). I used quick counts. As far as framerate goes, there are definitely some hitches and more than there were last year, which is disappointing. I noticed it mainly when the ball is first put into play, especially on fly balls hit into the outfield.

After that, I booted up a game at Marlins Park just to see the new colors. I played an inning, and overall it played really smooth. Again, some framerate dips on balls in play. But overall, smooth.

Based on what I've read in this post, I quit that game and just started a game using the Rays at the Stros (CPU). Holy crap, THE FRAMERATE IS GARBAGE IN THIS PARK! Top of the 1st, I'm batting, and everytime Verlander throws a pitch...as it gets closer to the plate and I'm about to swing, the framerate drops SIGNIFICANTLY. Wow, I'm pretty shocked at this. I don't remember experiencing anything like this in '18 or '17 even.

                      Sorry for the caps lol.

I was only able to play 2 games before work, but I did experience the AI correctly using their bullpen. They weren't leaving the reliever in for 4+ innings like last year.

Thank you!!! It is GARBAGE in that park!! Worst in the game, It's almost unplayable.... you can't hit as the ball skips across the air towards homeplate.

If you are getting framerate issues try rebuilding your ps4 database. Worked for me

Did that the day before game came out. The problem is Minute Maid is horrid this year.

We're comparing it to 18 tho which was much smoother than 16.

19 does feel choppier to me than 18, but it's still very playable.
