Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

I've gone ahead and jumped into RTTS. I'm impressed with the subtle presentation improvements. They really bring life to the game overall.

I brought over my previous save from 18, but went ahead and started afresh after a few games, just to get the full experience with the new RTTS changes and improvements. Glad I did. Even the presentation changes in the prospect/showcase games are nice.

One certain improvement over last year, RTTS gives the player more influence/choice in what team they're drafted by again, rather than having to go back to college and hope for the best or, worse, hope your agent gets you a decent trade down the line. I'm happy to see that SDS was listening.

I'm seeing alot of graphical clipping with player models and equipment, especially in the arms/elbows and ankles. I imagine that'll get fixed within the first few patches.

Frame rate does feel worse this year after a few more games. Hopefully it’s something they can improve in a patch.

The pre-pitch cameras are really growing on me. I like they they are in addition to the regular broadcast cameras and not a replacement. Only gripe is they do seem to have more jaggies at times than the standard cameras, which seems to be because they are moving which amplifies the jaggies.

On a ps4 pro, playing on faster and HDR. Tried everything but the stuttery frame rate at Minute Maid is beyond terrible!!! Didn't have this issue last year, how could the framerate be this bad? Is it even something they can patch?

I tried everything to smooth it out but can't find a work around. Very disappointing as the Astros are my favorite team. Won't be playing if this stays like this.

It’s pretty bad. I’m on a pro and I’m in the middle of my first game at MMP and it’s like every 4th pitch or so is frame rate hell. Not sure what’s causing it, but hope there is a fix, soon.

I found using the Broadcast cam instead of Dynamic for in-play offense/defense helps a bit, but it’s still noticeable at times, though I haven’t tried playing at MMP yet.

(I’m also on a PS4 Pro in ‘’faster” mode)

So far I'm very impressed with this game. Seems to have more life to it. I love how they added the Wrigley Field organ, and the crowd comes to life during key moments. The Marlins jerseys are absolutely spectacular, and I love the graphics. Not totally sold on the new camera angles, and there have been a couple minor glitches, but I trust that these will be patched out in due time.

              19 is a winner!
Would the lady who left her nine kids at Wrigley Field please pick them up immediately? They are beating the Cubs 4-0 in the 7th inning!

Can't have Shohei Ohtani in starting lineup in franchise.

Re: MLB 19: First Impressions Thread (IMPRESSIONS ONLY)

Popped the game in a started my first franchise. Right off the bat (no punt intended), I noticed a major bug. Every player rating is 3-5 points lower than their true value.

I dug a little deeper into the issue and realized every player’s morale in franchise mode is angry with their team role. There is no fix or work around. It seems that the game is setting each player’s team role to the lowest possible (Bench or minors for position all players, Bullpen or minors for all pitchers)

Does anyone have a devs attention so that this issue can be fixed?

I just simmed a quick season to see if salary figures were adjusted. It does not appear they have been. Didi signs 2 year 7 mil deal in offseason, Jose Abreu's 6.6 1 year deal.

Arbitration and free agency numbers do not appear to be scaled to account for real contracts. Yankees start with an additional 30 million in space and after offseason should have much more.

Arbitration offers lower than previous years salary.

I can see this impacting trade values etc.. really disappointed. Users could have changed contracts to real figures..this is beyond frustrating.

Edit: on my way to work I also remember Pujols retires in year 1 giving up millions.(a few years ago it was made so players in contract would not retire.)

Trades that happened were mostly rp, arbitration renewable level players. I'm guessing since trade values were not adjusted to reflect higher contracts.

I need to do more tests, but for me this is not playable unless contracts were edited to pre-real contracts.

I didn't mention this last night, but the opening intro to this game is absolutely beautiful and gets you fired up to not only play baseball but to watch as well.
I can't shave with my eyes closed, meaning each day I have to look at myself in the mirror and respect who I see.

I miss the old days of Operation Sports :(

For my zone hitters, any idea what the vibration on the right joy stick is for? I move that stick around as a timing mechanism and it didnt vibrate last year. I remember years ago it being used for swing influence, but to my knowledge that was removed some time ago.

That's really disappointing if true. I think most of us had a bit of fear that they'd not implement it particularly thoroughly, but from what your saying it sounds like they've done even less than I thought they would have. Hopefully it's not the case and they've done more than it initially seems

I simmed a quick season before heading to work. Although not thoroughly tested I took a quick picture of arbitration figures and offers. Salary was the same as before for new contracts.

From initial look the trade logic seems to be impacted too. You do not see guys that are veteran hitters being traded because they make "too much" according to the coding.

If this is it fact true, then the game for me is broken.

This is very disappointing that the frame rate got worst from last year while the graphics stayed the same

Performance/ bad frame rate on fly outs and looks horrible with the pixelation on edges and pitching meter

Balanced/ bad frame rate as well but looks nicer

Sharper/ Terrible frame rate but looks the best

The broadcast fielding cam to me is the best but they pulled it back from last year and the fps drops and stutters when you get a fly ball. Awful
