It’s so people are aware that they can start the download process and be ready to play the game Monday night when the game becomes playable and not having to wait for the game to download. 52gb is a lot to download, especially when everyone is trying to download at the same time.

No kidding. Nine hours for me. Got up this morning still have until 0800. I guess I'll stay up Monday to make sure the patch starts at midnight (assuming it's not already in this download).

Mine's done, downloaded for about 9-10 hours overnight. 50-ish GB's goes a bit quicker for me these days.

Mine just finished downloading...now the waiting game til midnight Monday begins.

Got my fantasy baseball draft tonight, The Show on the horizon, and MLB opening week rolling around...what a great week for us all! Bring on baseball season, fellas!

I have mine preloaded but if I go to the game icon and hit the options button and scroll down to information it says 71.21 gigs, but yet people here are saying it's like 52 gigs, what's up with that?

Simple question : if I go on MLB19 Icon -> Options -> Information -> it says Downloaded 74gb.

But I get no confirmation in the Notification section. Is it normal ? I mean the Notification section will only tell me when game’s installed ?

Maybe day 1 patches?? An extra 19 gigs though would seem rather high for a day 1 patch

Hmm, mine says that too actually, but the in-progress download was definitely 52. Maybe just extra space the game reserves for updates/additions and such? In any event there's nothing more for me to download so I know I've got the full game downloaded and installed.

On that note, the version I downloaded is 1.02, so there seems to be a pre-release patch or two baked into the digital version. All it says in the update history is "various bug fixes".

As long as the 52 GB download is the full game (and again, there's nothing else for me to download so I assume it is), you won't be forced into the LA/BOS game or see an "installing" bar when you go to start up the game Tuesday at midnight EST. I did this process last year and was playing a Cubs/Cards game as soon as I fired up the game for the first time.

The information page file size being significantly different from what I downloaded is a change this year, but as long as my system is telling me there isn't anything else to download I'm not going to stress about it.

I was thinking on this and I have an idea of why the file sizes are different.

It very well could be that the game we pre downloaded is still compressed and will "unpack" later or even at midnight on launch.

Or it is just allotted space as a buffer for the download and will let the extra go on "launch"

Just a thought.

Does anyone know why in Europe we get it a day later this time ? I cant preload until the 25th and release date here says the 27th. It's the first time this happens as normaly release date is the same as everyone else.
