Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

About to play my first franchise game with the Philadelphia Phillies.
I’m on hall of fame difficulty plan to play 1 sim 5 so I’m always using a different pitcher.
    Lineup:
    1. Andrew McCutchen (LF)
    2. Jean segura (SS)
    3. Bryce Harper (RF)
    4. Rhys Hoskins (1B)
    5. JT Realmuto (C)
    6. Odubel Herrera (CF)
    7. Cesar Hernandez (2B)
    8. Maikel Franco (3B)
    Bench:
    Nick Williams (LF)
    Andrew Knapp (C)
    Scott kingery (3B/UT)
    Aaron altherr (RF)
    Rotation:
    1. Aaron nola
    2. Jake Arrieta
    3. Vince Velazquez
    4. Nick Pivetta
    5. Zach Eflin

    Bullpen:
    Juan nicasio
    Seranthony Dominguez
    Victor arano
    Jose Alvarez
    Hector neris
    Pat neshek
    Edubary ramos
    David Robertson

I plan in doing a pretty realistic franchise not too many trades only one I’m pondering right now is trading Cesar for a starter or a bench bat so that I can give Scott some playing time. I’ll be updating as my franchise goes along. 👍🏻

Re: MLB The Show 19 Franchise Discussion Thread

Went to pull my 2018 Fantasy Franchise team from mlb18 through to mlb19. So started franchise in mlb 19 but pitchers hitting stats are not transferring over and all my veteran pitchers are getting thier first major league hits? Anyone else experiencing this with thier continued franchises, if so, can this be corrected or has anyone posted specifically on this.
      Thanks.

        Cubs @ Marlins

Game 1: Jon Lester continues his great start to the season by going 7.2 innings with 7k's, no walks and 1ER. At one point he retired 14 in a row and the Cubs held on to get the win and give Lester his third victory. Cubs win:2-1

Game 2: Javy Baez hits his 3rd HR of the season, a 3 run shot and Kyle Hendricks goes 7 as the Cubs go on to take game 2. Cubs win 6-2

Game 3: Cubs going for the sweep! Marlins up 2-0 heading into the 4th, Solo homeruns by Kyle Schwarber and Willson Contreras tie the game at 2. Cubs take the lead in the 6th 3-2 but fall late and fail to get the sweep. Cubs lose 5-3

This game is silly. So Julio Teheran has been pitching like this

After getting Drew Steckenrider to harmlessly fly out to left I got this message

I simmed the rest of the game out of frustration. The first thing I saw when I got back to the Franchise menu was a message saying Julio has a forearm bruise (How that happened on a flyout is anyone's guess) and he will be out 1-2 days. Talk about an unnecessary heart attack.

Edit: Just realized I said Steckenrider flew out. I meant Brian Anderson.

            End of April - 2020

The first month of the season down and much like last year this Royals team is fighting to prove they aren't as bad as some expect them to be. But unlike last year it might be more than just a fluke. We sit at 17-13 at the end of April. 2nd place in the Central 3.5 games back of the Twins and 1.5 games back of the Rays for the 2nd Wild Card. Last year we were winning with a negative run differential. This year its a bit different as we have outscored our opponents 125-96.

The 125 runs scored is good for 17th in the majors and 10th in the AL. We are hitting .249/.309/.428 (22nd/28th/12th). We lead the league Doubles, 2nd in Triples and 21st in the Home Runs. We have only stolen 16 bases after leading the league last season. We are 28th in Walks with just 84 and 4th in Strikeouts.

Adalberto Mondesi, Whit Merrifield and Ryan O'Hearn have been 95% of the offense. Mondesi is on a level I have never seen. Hitting .365/.407/.809 and that .809 is his slugging% not OPS. His OPS is the best in baseball at 1.215. 9 Doubles, 8 Home runs, and 9 TRIPLES! in 29 games played. Ryan O'Hearn is hitting .293/.358/.616 with 7 HR. While Whit is hitting .304/.328/.461. The next 6 guys with the most AB are hitting a combined .211/.282/.344 with Bubba Starling putting up an impressive .489 OPS.

Our 96 runs allowed is 2nd in the majors. Giving us an AL best 3.05 ERA nad 3rd in the majors behind the Cubs and Dodgers. We have allowed the 6th most Home Runs, continue to not strike anyone out as we sit in 27th with 221. But we arent giving away free bases as we lead the majors in walks allowed with just 73.

Leading the way in the rotation is Jake Junis putting up a 1.70 ERA and 1.13 WHIP in 47.2 IP. He has earned the win in all 7 starts. The rest of the rotation is doing pretty good aside from Jorge Lopez. We have been running a 4 man rotation as much as we can so he has only gotten 3 starts so far. The bullpen has been very up and down with Zimmer and McCarthy being the only reliable guys we have. Zimmer has yet to give up a run in 8 innings and has a 0.75 WHIP with a 14.63 K/9. Richard Lovelady has not been able to figure things out so far this season. Has an 8.10 ERA in 10 IP. He has already given up 4 homers after giving up only 3 in 53 innings last year.

Haven't had many injuries so far. None at all in the Majors. Nicky Lopez hit the IL for AAA Omaha with some cartilage damage in his knee. Should be back in about a month. Connor Christian has missed about a week with a Pulled Hamstring. He should be back in the next few days. Jake Noll was optioned to AAA Omaha on the 28th. Hunter Dozier was recalled to take him place. Dozier was hitting .353/.371/.676 with 5 Home Runs in 68 AB. Knoll was hitting .217/.333/.217 in 23 AB. 2 days after being sent down he fractured his wrist and will miss the next 6 weeks or so.

Mac Williamson is going to be designated for assignment before our next game. Williamson is hitting just .138 in 29 AB. Taking his spot on the roster will be Michael Gigliotti. He is hitting .314/.410/.535 with 3 HR, 4 Doubles and 3 Triples. Buba will move to the bench with Gigliotti starting in Center. Yunior Marte will be optioned to AAA with Drew Storen taking his spot. Marte has a 5.68 ERA and 1.74 WHIP so far. Storen has a 1.42 ERA and 0.79 WHIP in 12.2 IP.

We have 31 games left until the draft. 16 will be against a team with a winning record and 20 will be on the road. So far we are 2-5 against teams with winning records and we are 6-7 on the road.

I had this happen too. One of my pitchers had to be pulled with tightness in his elbow. Scared the hell outta me. Exited the game and it didn’t give me a notification, he was just healthy and ready for his next start.

In year one with the Braves in my franchise. Signed Dallas Keuchel in the Spring and he was pitching a no-no against the Rockies. He had to be pulled from the game due to lower back tightness after 6.2 IP. Luckily the bullpen kept things together and the Braves knocked off the Rockies 4-1 from an Acuna Jr. 3 run bomb in the 7th.

April started like a lion but left like a Lamb. Isn’t that supposed to March? April showers bring May flowers...we’ll get to that. The Sox started a dismal 1-7, which included losing their first 6 games, by an average score of 6-1. They ended April by losing 4 of their last 5. Mixed in the middle was some great pitching and very timely hitting that lead to a 10 game winning streak and a 14-2, both losses coming in Yankee stadium. Sox bats haven’t been much to write about with the exception of Jake Lamb. Lamb has proven clutch. Out of his 10 homers, 7 have either tied or given the Sox the lead. Lucas Giolito took a no hitter into the 7th inning against the Yankees before sizzling out. If the rest of the line up can follow Lamb’s lead and start showering the bleachers with baseballs, it could be a fun summer on the south side.

I’m getting the itch, as I do every year, to pause my current O’s rebuild and start a “play every game” franchise with my Yankees. I feel like I’m doing myself a disservice having started this O’s chise without 30-team control on. Someone talk me off the ledge

My friend, it's a very hard ledge to come back from. I can't in good conscious suggest that you switch to the Yankees though. You go from being the trash birds to joining the most evil empire known to man!

To be fair, I've been picking at my Marlins franchise, but keep switching back to the Jays.

Always gotta go 30 team though. Wayyyyyy too much CPU AI stupidity. Would you ever consider re-starting your O's chise with 30 team on?

No way, I’m in it way to deep to restart. I’d just pause it for now. Its really the immersion that is killing me. I can’t watch rebuilding CPU teams trade top prospects for 4th outfielders any longer and convince myself that my imaginary baseball universe is realistic.

I feel ya. If you're going for any sense of realism in this game, there's no way you can do it without 30 team on.

Good luck with the Yanks! May Baby Vlad, and the injury bug torture you, but in an enjoyable way!

How exactly does the 30 team control franchise mode work? Do i have to resign every player manually in the offseason or? Sorry if a dumb question never have done one but i see those same dumb trades in mines so could look to do one

You set up two “settings file associations” (IE two profiles within the franchise file) then set all teams to automatic transactions (except for the one you’re controlling). Thats the jist of it - its been covered in the forums exhaustively so just search for it. There are step by step instructions on how to set it up properly.

Thats the jist of it - its been covered in the forums exhaustively so just search for it. There are step by step instructions on how to set it up properly.

Just for curiosity, how much do you guys do in 30 team mode? I know there'll be dudes on the extremes, but for the general Franchise guy who just wants no BS from the AI, how much control for the AI teams do you feel is enough? For me, I want to compete vs the other 29 teams, not control them to the point I feel like I'm playing chess by myself. I really don't want to have my hands too deep into the AI cookie jar if I can help it, I'm already a guy who likes to play every pitch. Like, the idea of setting every team's lineups makes me not want to play the game at all, that's just too much detail for me. What's normal for you 30 team guys?
