Re: MLB '19 Framerate drops/sutters help and discussion thread

Ok this needs to be addressed because far to many people are suggesting things that have ZERO to do with the issue.

    Here are a few examples

    1. The version of the show you have has ZERO to do with the issue as the issue is on every single version of the game. Those that say they are getting a flawless version are either trolling or just not sensitive to the issue but if you play their version you will see the same issue from your perspective

    2. The tv/monitor you have has ZERO to do with the issues of fps drops in the game. This is tied to the game/console as fps drops are all about the gpu and cpu of the console which to me for this game the PRO is terribly under powered. It does not matter if you play on a 4k tv or monitor or 1080p monitor or tv the issue will still be there

    3. I cannot speak for the base ps4 as this is only for PS4 PRO. Perhaps those on the base ps4 are getting a great experience but it does not apply to the PRO

    4. The issue is mostly on fly balls to the outfield and it seems to be the new dynamic camera being pulled back that is hurting the fps as it now shows more on screen which the PRO cannot handle. That is just my uneducated guess but playing on retro camera or broadcast lessens the issue but that is not a fix as the only camera I like is Dynamic

    5. Rebuilding the database is not a fix for FPS drops, that only would help a laggy menu in the OS and has no bearing on FPS drops in the game which again is tied to the game/pro console capabilities.

I am willing to bet $100 that in any mode faster/balanced/sharper the game ever reaches 60fps. Last year on faster mode it was a lot smoother than faster this year which is a mess at times and looks horrible. The game has zero AA which causes jaggies all around the objects and player models and broken foul lines. These are all indications that the hardware is not up to snuff for this game. PS5 please come soon

Will I say the game is not playable? No I will not but it should not be acceptable either

Just bought the game yesterday. Let the game fully install and played my first game. I was initially disappointed with the frame rate and graphics. So, I rebuilt database and the game ran really well for me on sharper setting. KS8000 and PS4 Pro. I will rebuild database before I play every time if it looks and plays that smooth. I thought sharper mode ran comparable to last years balanced mode.

LOL read XxGamerXx's post above yours.

Also, 4K mode likely is at a locked 30 FPS and isn't having the same framerate drops/feels because it's already at such a low framerate. Most people witnessing the issue are playing on Faster, and it's going from a purported 60 FPS to something criminally lower in comparison on some aspects.

The game looks amazing in sharper but baseball should not be played in that FPS setting as it has judder and screen tearing.

Balance should be the best of both worlds but it is not right now. Faster is the best of them all but not great either and it comes at a huge downgrade in graphics which when you are use to high end graphics it is hard to accept

Another thing I thought of, and pardon my ignorance if this sounds stupid lol...could part of the issue be the new extended protective netting they added to the game?

I had tons of framerate problems with '16 as I've mentioned. Somebody else mentioned '16 was the year they implemented (not sure what it's exactly called) more detail to things like the dugouts. So can the extra netting and whatever is involved with that, make the framerate drop?

As xGamer said, maybe the Pro just isn't powerful enough to handle everything this game is throwing at it. Kind of crazy to think that way, since '18 ran way smoother for me, but it also kind of makes sense as well.

Also, can we please try to keep this thread focused on the actual issue and not bickering back and forth? I’m honestly not sure why those who aren’t having the issue are even posting here. We get it; it’s not affecting everyone, or at least not noticeable to everyone. Meanwhile, it IS affecting a lot of people, so let’s just focus on hopefully finding any common denominators until SDS can address this in a patch.
Ahh. That explains it. Seemed like folks were talking about it as though it was a regular PS4 thing as well. Carry on.

I honestly think that the dynamic camera on defense is a big issue. I love the camera this year because it looks fantastic when fielding ground balls and throwing out runners. But by pulling back the camera from previous years there is now more to show on screen and this to me is causing the issue.

Also lighting in the game needs to be toned down a bit which will boost fps big time

Have the devs acknowledged this problem at all? This game has always had a frame rate problem...

I'm playing on a base PS4. Prior to installing, I rebuilt my database and installed the newest PS4 update. The only place I'm seeing frame rate issues is when balls are hit through the infield to the outfield, either line drives or balls that bounce through quickly. When my fielders are moving toward the ball, and throwing the ball in from the outfield is where I'm seeing the stuttering and frame rate issues. For those that remember the old Hardball series on the PS1, it sort of reminds me of the outfield glitchy feel from that game.

There are times I'm seeing the issue that I truly don't care about. For instance, whenever an out is made at 1st base, and the first baseman starts to toss the ball around the diamond...whether he throws it to the 2nd baseman or the SS, the framerate is laughable lol the ball skips soooo much. But things like that...I'm ok with. But when gameplay is affected, that's when it starts to bother me. And unfortunately that's where I'm at right now. There's enough stutter during gameplay that is super noticeable to me, it's just killing this game for me.

The gameplay itself feels great. However playing it with framerate dips makes me not even want to play it.

Hopefully we get this thing sorted out. We'll see.

videos will not do anything, and sharper is not even close to being even locked 30fps. If you feel it is higher and closer to 60fps than we should not even discuss

So your guys’ issues are with faster setting being worse than it was last year? That really sucks and am sorry for you guys. I play on sharper and it’s better than it was last year. I tried balanced for a bit and it did seem worse than it was last year.
