SHOW 19: The March to October Bull Session

Started a March with the White Sox. Beat K.C. 2-0 in 11 innings after picking up play in the 6th inning. My win projection jumped from 68 to 74. Got 5 of what I will from here forward call 'fireballs'. Got 3 fireballs for Opening Day Win, another fireball for Pitching Staff Shutout and one more fireball for an Extra Inning Win. I thought it would skip me ahead a bit in the sched, but it looks like my next foray will be the next day against the Royals again, and I have to mount a comeback. Looks like the pitching coach must have got my bullpen warmed up during game 1 but I was still able to decide when to go to it, and I was also able to sit one reliever down in the 'pen and get another throwing in his stead.

Is Jimenez on the roster in this mode?

Nice info Caulfield. Do you mind others sharing their March to October progress in this thread? I can't put together much right now but I can give an update on mine after I get back from work. I'm on Legend difficulty with the Cubs and having a blast with it.

Yeah, I kinda thought it would run in a similar vein to the Franchise Discussion thread.

Jimenez hasn’t made his MLB debut yet and he won’t be officially added to the game until he does. So for example, Vlad Jr isn’t in the game either.

Played my second game against K.C., entered top of 9th down 0-1 & 1 out. Jose Abreu up so I'm swinging for the fence but I pop up weakly to thirdbase for out two, then groundout to end the game. got 2 ''snowballs'', 1 for being shutout & another for No Rally. dont wanna get snowballed too much, leaves a bad taste in your mouth lol. still, the opening day win was enough to propel me to 8-2 & in first place to start the season before I have another chance to play. looks like I'll be down 0-1 to Tampa in the 7th inning and my goal is to complete the series sweep. My current win projection now sits at 79.

Im through around 45 games with Milwaukee on Veteran. In the 9th of a game vs Philly where I was asked to make a 1 run comeback starting in the 6th. I got one to tie it then, went the 7th, 8th, and 9th scoreless. And now in the 10th, Hernan gets a single to the wall (i for some reason didnt have auto baserunning), he steals as Moose Ks, and then they intentionally walk Cain to get to Thames in the 2 hole with 2 outs. First pitch, yep... 3-run, no doubter to right, and I now have a 3 run lead going into the bottom of the 10th, with Knebel coming in to close.

Re: SHOW 19: The March to October Bull Session

Here's my progress so far with 3 and a half hours into the mode:

17-14 isn't much to write home about, but it started out looking a lot worse than this. I dropped the home opener in really ugly fashion, giving up 8 runs in the 3 innings I played. That sent me into a streak with several L's and I was down in 4th at my lowest point. Also had one other loss from what started as a tie game, so that knocked me down a bit too. I'm starting to rebound now though behind a recovering bullpen and some late-game heroics by Kyle Schwarber. He has 4 homers and 2 of them were hit by me, both winning games and one of them as a walkoff.

Albert Almora is my player lock boost player and so far he's not really been anything special, showing some uncharacteristic power with 4 homers, but not much else. In the one game I played with him I went 2-4, which was good enough for 2 "Plus" boosts. That only happened a few games ago though, so the player boost probably hasn't had much time to take effect yet.

All in all it's been a lot of fun so far, both the ups and downs. Legend is very playable, and demands that you be on your game especially since the user action takes place in the late innings. The plan is to take this into a franchise after it's over, regardless of whether I win or lose. Along with taking the mode for a test drive, I'm also doing this as a test to see where I should be difficulty-wise for '19. Right now Legend feels very good.

Here's a video I recorded of my latest game, and a really tense bottom of the 9th after one of those Schwarber HR's I mentioned. Cishek is the closer here, and that's because the AI shuffled the bullpen after Morrow scuffled early on (some of that by my hand, some not). The 2nd out in-particular was a major fist-pump moment after some of the early struggles (both in the season AND this same inning).

Didn't take long in in-game time to get another handful of noteworthy moments - this is the next game after the previous update. Remember how I said Almora got the +2 player boost? It might have helped here:

Cards re-take the lead in the 11th, and then this happens. Contreras draws a 4 pitch walk from Andrew Miller, and then Vic Caratini (35 Power vs Left), the last man on my bench, catches a hanging slider and sends the crowd into a frenzy.

This mode, man. Win or lose, I'm having an absolute blast.

Re: SHOW 19: The March to October Bull Session

I had a game where the situation was player-lock as Yoan Moncada. It started bad and proceeded to terrible from there. My first appearance was in the field with 2 out and 2 on. Groundball right to Moncada at third. I foolishly thought I could I could tag the base w/o risking a throw across the field. But He/I/we bobbled the fielding and was late to the base. All hands safe. At the plate, a couple of typical Moncada whiffs and a lazy fly to the outfield.
