Ya I’m pretty sure this is it.

I think they were really striving for broadcast authenticity. I personally like it how it is but I can totally see how others wouldn’t. It would be nice if they had a setting or if the volume slider made a difference so everyone could be happy though.

It would take a ton of memory and likely something only the PS5 would be capable of delivering, but how awesome would it be to have the option of 10 or so real life MLB radio announcers from around the country that you could select to call any given game or set it to random? Matt Vasgersian could still be an option, but his voice as the announcer is getting a little stale.

Yeah..I like it too. I just can't hear the announcer very well. He needs a sound upgrade. Even can't hear post game when no other sound is playing.

Have any of the people complaning about the PA sound tried using headphones? TV's aren't really known to have good audio systems. Before you say you never had problems in the past... that's not what I'm asking. Have you tried headphones because I can hear the PA clear as day and overall the sound will be much better if you use good quality headphones.

How about the cost and development time that would cost. Never going to happen. But hey, one can always dream.

Lot of people don't want to use headphones because of the damage it may do to your hearing.

When I played The Show, I wanted to feel like I was on the field, not sitting in my living room watching the game on TV.

I muted commentary. The game did a good job of making me feel on the field.
Do it. (Release The Show for PC)

Same issue here. Always enjoyed hearing the post game announcer in The show 18 tell me what bus lines are running post game. Has to be a glitch... even with every other volume level turned down I can’t hear the announcer clearly.

Is this a bug of some sort ??? Or is it just just me ???
Agreed, commentary sounds inconsistent throughout. I’m on a 5.1 system and I have to lower the commentary way down and raise the volume of the PA and sound effects but they still sound muffled.

                        Re: PA Announcer sounds odd

I'll just say that I haven't heard it yet because I haven't yet gotten the game, but I will say that I really hope people be careful what they wish for when it comes to an adjustment in this thing. If it goes anywhere back to sounding like what the previous guy sounded like (filters used, not just his voice), I'll be extremely upset. It never sounded good, even if it sounded "clear." I do have a feeling that the proper audio equipment is necessary to hear it as intended, though. Probably a 5.1 system, not sure.

This all reminds me of The Dark Knight Rises and Bane's voice. The problem with true IMAX theaters and their sound systems is that dialogue is already hard to hear for whatever particular reason... so when they showed the TDKR prologue and people bitched about not being able to hear Bane ("He's covering his mouth!" is what I expect to hear from the complaining masses lol) got a "corrected" theatrical version for the actual release so he was clear as day to hear. Problem was, when you watched the thing on Blu-ray or any other regular theater, he sounds boomy, overbearing, and is coming from every speaker. He sounds like a voice-in-the-head narrator or something. The adjustment came as a result of producing it on the wrong equipment.

Anyway, I don't know what effect they're going for yet, and I won't know till maybe tonight or tomorrow. I do know that if it's changed too radically, there isn't any going back, and that'll just be too bad if this effect is indeed authentic in some sort of way like watching a game on TV. I've been the only person on the forum clamoring about getting a new PA announcer and a new style in the audio sound for years, and I have a feeling they probably got close to nailing it this year. It would be a shame if they went backwards again, that's all.

Sorry to disappoint you but it really does sound bad no matter how you adjust the volume. It really sounds like it's underwater or something similar. Not clear sounding like in years past. I just hope they can make it better than it is now.

Might as well add on another "I'm glad it's not just me" post. Haven't done anything to any audio settings but it sounds like he has a thick blanket over his head. If you hire a new guy to do the PA announcements and he invests hours upon hours of time in the studio to record thousands of names, shouldn't you at least be able to make out what the heck he's saying?

A useless aside, but I remember that the old PA announcer had this odd reverb whenever he said Melvin Upton Jr.'s name.

yeah I can't hear him at all. I used to like hearing him at the end telling us the time of the ball game. now I have no idea I used to like hearing how long the ball game would have gone for.
